Current build i7-9700K ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING Corsair - Vengeance 64gb DDR4-3200 EVGA 3080FTW 10GB Be Quiet Straight Power 11 Platinum 1200W PSU Asus Rog 27" 1440p Monitors x2 HP Reverb G2 VR headset Main use is for Microsoft Flight Sim (Monitor & VR) Considering 1. 27" 4k 144hz Monitor 2. i7-13700k, DDR5 Z790 Motherboard and DDR5 Ram Unfortunately I can't justify doing both! Any and all suggestions are very welcome. Thanks. G.
  2. I'm also seeing this behaviour on my 4 month old ASUS VG27AQ...
  3. Budget (including currency): €1000 Country: Ireland Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Linux Enigma2 STB Some Details: Purpose: Satellite & Terrestrial Set-top-box / HTPC OS: Any Linux Enigma2 (e.g. OpenVIX, Open Blackhole) Hi there, My Enigma2 STB is nearing end-of-life. Instead of buying a new box such as a VU+, I'm interested in building my own STB / HTPC. Can anyone point me to any online videos or content I can use as a reference point? Must Haves FREEVIEW DVB-T2/T/C Terrestrial / Cable Quad TV Tuner PCIe Card FREESAT DVB-S2 satellite Quad TV Tuner PCIe card Graphics card to support 4k HDR TV ...do I even need one if I use an APU Motherboard & CPU ...I have no idea! Thanks in advance, G.
  4. Thanks all for all your advice... in the end I went with PAKITE Wireless AV Sender,5.8GHz 24 Channel Wireless Audio Video Transmitter and Receiver Broadcasting Audio Video sender TV Signal (PAT-590). (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07PGV1KFD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I've been using it for a month now and am very satisified with its stability and performance. G.
  5. Thanks John for your reply. Unfortunately the the TV is not a smart TV. I've seen some items on Amazon but not sure if there overkill for what I need... e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B015OMVSCM/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_10?smid=A15TW43BF9Y9WW&th=1There are cheaper solutions but not sure if their transmissions are stable. G.
  6. Hi there, We are moving our TV from one end of our living room to the other end. This is roughly 4.5m/15ft, with no brick walls. I don't want to move the TV Box, as it's right beside the digital/satellite wall connections. I'm also not allowed to run any more cables! Can anyone reccommend a Wireless HDMI extender (Sender & Receiver) solution? It doesn't have to be 4k... 1080p would be fine, once it's stable. I dont want to spend over what I need to... but I also dont want to miss out on must-haves, by under spending on a solution. Thanks in advance, G.
  7. Hi All, I'm looking to purchase an ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q 27 inch WQHD Gaming Monitor. Best Price new is on Amazon for £651.99 but there is also an option to purchase a "Used - Like New" one on Amazon for £480. Sounds great doesn't it? But then I read... "Item has 4-5 bright pixels which are only visible on white backgrounds". I'm now torn between buying the used monitor and saving £172... Or getting a cheaper RTX GPU and buying new. If the issue was wear-and-tare on the chassis I wouldn't care. But I'm undecided because its pixel related. Any thoughts? G.
  8. Great Question. From what I've learnt from Youtubers, whose opinions I trust, like Linus, Dmitry, Paul & Kyle) is that a27" monitor is the perfect size for gaming. A 32" is just a bit too big to take in all the real-estate. For me, I've decided to get a cheaper Graphics card so I can get a an Asus PG279Q. G.
  9. VG279Q looks the perfect partnership for an amd gpu. But I'm looking for a G-Sync monitor. While the VG279Q is only £367 on Amazon the PG279Q is £651 on Amazon. @sYNTHwAVE did you consider a PG278QR before going with the PG279Q?
  10. I suppose my budget would be £450-£500. I'm ok with 1080p.. but would really like 27" 144hz and G-Sync.
  11. Doesn't have to be budget... but cheaper than the Flagship models such as ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q would be nice...
  12. All, I'm looking for a gaming monitor recommendations that would match my minimum spec below... 1080p 144 hz IPS / TN (undecided) 27" G-Sync Thanks in advance, G.
  13. Many thanks again for all your input. I've decided to take your advice and downgrade to a 750 PSU and switch the fans to the standard SilentWings3. I'm going to stick with the 9700k because it's only £15 more expensive than the 8700K. Regarding my monitor choice of the Asus - PG279Q ROG Swift (27.0" 2560x1440 165 Hz), is there a cheaper alternative I should consider if my minimum requirements are... 1080p 144 hz IPS 27" G-Sync Thanks, G.
  14. Thanks for your replies... I intend to use this for apps like Finale, Eclipse, and MS Office. And for gaming titles like Civ-6, X-Plane 11, and VR Racing Sims. I have a 6tb WD blue drive I'm going to use with it. Great feedback on the PSU and extra fans. Would an 850 PSU cover it? any recommendations? G.
  15. Hi All, This is my first build in years as I've being using laptops. I would be grateful to get feedback from the forum for my proposed gaming spec. ...
