Not Eligible For Stars got a reaction from Cavalry Canuck in How to Coax? ?
    @Cavalry Canuck

I too install coax when given the chance to run new cables (I'm a sparky), even tho todays use of it (at least in Norway) is limited. People usually go for IP-TV when given the choice.

IP-TV usually requires fibre service (or a high speed copper connection). It also requires 1 dedicated ethernet line to each TV. IP-TV has the advantage of higher quality and you get a good deal when you order together with your regular internett, as the ISP provides you both services.
The cable-tv/satellite-tv providers basically marks up the price because you have no other choice in your area, or are restricted by building rules (not allowed to put up satellite dish etc.)

What I do is run pre-pulled 20mm corrugated tubes with 1xRG6+2xCat6 inside. Use 22mm ship auger drill-bit to make holes in the studs. That way you only pull 1 tube to each spot you imagine someone would put a TV.
(notice: if you cant get your hands on pre-pulled tubes, go up to 25mm. Pulling 3 cables in a 20mm after you add bends will result in a lot of swearing.)
Then we drill a 73mm hole with a hole-saw and insert a orange/red box and connect the tube to the box.
Its all terminated in a wallplate with all 3 connectors neatly stacked in a triangel.

I'm not sugesting that you go out of your way to obtain these specific norwegian items, you probably have similar gear in your country. I know its common to pull cables in walls without the use of tubes everywhere else in the world, guess we are the strange ones for using it ^^
Btw, there are other styles and colors to the wallplate - i just displayed a basic one.

Seems you have Windows 1803 installed. But to confirm you can open the search field or the start menu and type "winver" without the quotes. What will bring up a little windows that will tell you what version of Windows you have.

Microsoft will stop issuing software updates for Windows 1803 in november, and that is why Windows now wants to update itself to a newer version.

If you don't see anything iffy on your system, chances are Windows Security just updated something or thought it had a problem. Just complete a full system scan to be safe.

Unless you have a specific reason for it, you might as well update Windows. The Windows Update system has become a serious nuisance. And staying up-to-date seems to keep it quiet ?

20cm of parallel cable won’t affect your performance in any meaningful way for home (hobby) use - don't worry about it.
I have done x10 worse stuff and gotten away with it (quality within specs verified with $10k+ fluke instruments).

Yeah, the second port on anything but the super high end APs are purely for convenience and redundancy. There's not much of a reason for LAG on any of these APs anyways as they are not going to saturate 1Gbps. The Nano will get close if you have a whole bunch of Wave 2 AC devices hitting DL all at once but it won't quite get there and you're unlikely to do this in a home environment anyways. Always good to run two cables but only because the effort involved in running the cable is high and the cost of the cable itself is trivial

It's worth pointing out that most of these APs come with a PoE injector in the box. From memory I think the only ones that don't are the multi-packs.

In terms of the in-wall AP I don't think the range is quite as good because it has a smaller antennae array. The only reason I'd go with one of those is if you were installing it over an existing wallplate or if you wanted to piggyback a PoE device via the PoE passthrough like a camera or a VOIP phone. If you're doing new cable runs anyways I'd just run one for the AP and one two a couple of ports in a standard wallplate for a better and cheaper end result than the In-Wall HD.

The cables are flat, flat patch cables aren't the rarest thing in the world. They seem just like standard STP (shielded twisted pair) cables to me. (most CAT6 is 32 AWG however - so wire is a little thicker)

It's not a blanking plate, it's a shelf. Look under it on the first image to give you a better view at it.

Likely to not have come with the rack.

Q1 - Are there problems with mixing different cameras in a cctv system?
Yes, it depends on the system.

Q2 - Can one set up a pad/tablet to monitor one camera (the door) for example to be lazy and dont get out of bed when its the girl scouts selling cookies?
Yes most ip cameras can be viewed from a web browser.

Q3 - How far can a wideangle camera see - before one should rather pick a directional camera?
I think wide angle is better suited to indoor use, on a wide angle lens after 4-6m(dependent on field of view) people become too small on the image to me usable.

    Q4 - Are the Ubiquiti cameras/software good?
Ubiquiti product are designed for commercial use and are very well regarded.

The unifi system looks really nice, easy enough setup, no subscription, and can be accessed from anywhere. but its a closed system, you can only use unifi cameras. the unifi cameras are small and very unobtrusive though and i think the benefits of the system could mitigate the need for a visible camera. if you hide the camera in the corner you won't be able to see it from the outside and being so high i don't think it will be that noticeable on the inside.

for a 5 camera system with there 2TB NVR(network video recorder) and an 8port PoE switch its $1233. you could probably install it yourself, especially if you know how to run the ethernet cable. you just connect the cameras to the switch, connect the NVR to the switch, then connect the switch to your internet router.

but if you really want the low profile cameras i think i found some good ones, all of these are open and can be used with many systems. but you'll probable need a pro for setup.

I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole on this one. Although i know a bit about this stuff, make sure you read all the documentation before you buy anything, i'm pretty sure i didn't miss anything but i don't want blaming if i did.
