Last gen AMD doesn't support AV1.

He said he wants to get into AV1. 4000 series offers dual NVENC with 8K 10-bit 60FPS AV1 hardware encoding.
 
The fourth gen tensor cores are also a massive improvement over the 3000 series.

Omg yes, just installed it and I love all the options! Even shows the ms for all the encoding/decoding/network and allows me to do H265, thank you for introducing this to me!

Benchmarks aside, its hard to beat $140 compared to $400 minimum.

I picked up one of these and its surprisingly capable, even at gaming. Was able to do HoTS (high preset) and Diablo 3 (mix of high/med) at 4K 60-100 fps... Its in the PC that runs my TV currently. I've been itching to throw it in my main rig just to test it out in Diablo 4.

Back in March this was tested and frankly, the results are near as makes no difference for normal people. Extensive testing and benchmarking with VMAF.

i believe in theory you want the antenna's pointing towards the direction of the wap with their side (so.. pointing 90° away from it), and have a 90° corner between each other.
 
that's ofcourse theory.. and if there was a "best way to put antenna", those analog TV antenna's from back in the day wouldnt be 34-way adjustable.

Don’t ever port forward SMB… unless you really like everyone in the world being able to access your data, but worse… be able to alter or copy data (viruses….) onto your share. SMB is not meant to be internet facing. 
 
As others said, what you want is likely either nextcloud or use WireGuard to set up your own VPN. Once you or your friends VPN in, you can use SMB just like you normally would if you were in the same network, it’ll just be slow since it’s going over WAN…. 

You could also use something like nextcloud that syncs files. Then the person doesn't have to deal with the slow connection over wan. Using smb over wan isn't a great experience normally.
 
If your editing video together many of the large editors like resove and premiere allow multiple editors on the same project, and you can make small proxies for editing.

What you want is not a commercial VPN, but to set up your own VPN server on your server machine like Wireguard or OpenVPN, and have your friend connect to it. 

What does gpart show -l outputs ?
 
If your goal is to install truenas on mmcsd0 and you don't care about the data on the disk, you can try writing a new gpt partition table on the drive with gpart and see what the truenas interface picks up then.

I just upgraded to a 2070 Super a few months ago, but I totally would have bought a 4070 if EVGA was bringing one to the table.

The Gigabyte card has a better cooler and would in theory be quieter, but it's a 4070, it really doesn't need all that much power delivery or cooling performance. It's not like you're gonna notice a difference in performance, longevity, or really even noise going for one over the other so it doesn't really matter one way or another. I'd probably get the Gigabyte card just because, but if you've got a fairly cramped case the ASUS card being smaller would be a significant upside and therefore the better pick. 
 
Both are bad, Gigabyte it worse. That said, neither card to my knowledge has RGB, so it's not like you'd need to use any of their software to begin with. Only piece of software you might want to install is some sort of fan control or overclocking software, in which case get MSI Afterburner and use that instead. 

Personally, I'd probably go for an Asus Strix but between the Asus Dual or Gigabyte Windforce, I'm not aware that there's much of a difference. The Windforce coolers have gotten quite a bit better since the days of Maxwell and Pascal, as far as I know.

For what it's worth, EVGA really did make the best Nvidia cards. The release of the 4070, coupled with it being an actually decent card, has made me miss them even more than I already did.

I ended up getting it to work by going into Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings > Checking PlayStation Configuration Support  

Yeah I totally belive that too! I even watched Gamer Nexus' video on gaming chairs and your experiance aligns with what they had to say, I'll 100% be avoiding gaming chairs, thanks!

This is just my experience, but I've found that "Gaming" branded chairs are basically all garbage (at least the cheap ones anyways). They always use the fake leather garbage that peels away in less than a year. I would personally recommend finding a good office chair instead, as having proper lumbar support, adjustable arm rests, good cushioning, etc etc. are all things that are often skimped out on "Gaming" branded chairs in lieu of fancy colors and gimmicks you don't really need. Because at the end of the day, it's a chair, you REALLY want something that is comfortable and can be used for many hours at a time rather than aesthetic imo.
 
I would recommend going into a big retail store and personally trying out their chairs in person. Beware of ones with "Fake Leather" as I mentioned earlier, they will peel and look absolutely terrible. Mesh chairs tend to be better in that regard but aren't necessarily as comfortable (though ymmv), so just something to consider.
