I think we should have a linus tech tips forum app because it would be very easy to get into the forum and discuss tech related content, because i can't be near my desktop everytime and also don't ask about chrome in smartphone, It is not good. How many people want LTT FORUM APP IN ANDROID

Check motherboard settings have not hung.
IE.. reset or not using what's set.
 
I unplugged for 2 weeks, replugged, OC settings didn't stick on reboot.
Set it up again, working

I have had an i5 4440 (4C/4T 3.1GHz, turbo boost to 3.4GHz) for almost 5 years now. It has served me well and has done almost everything I have asked of it, up to now. I have been playing GTA V with it for over a year now, and it has always been taxing, but my CPU managed to do it. My CPU used to turbo boost all the way to 3.4 GHz when I ran it, and it seemed like it needed all of that power to run the game.
Recently, though, my CPU has been stuck at the base clock and has not been turboing. Temps are steady at 60C even when under constant 100% load (as it is when playing GTA). What is going on here?

Because the specifications you are looking at are for the 2016 ~ 2017 model.
 
The CPU is a 6th generation Intel CPU.
 

The i7-4710HQ is a 4th-generation 'Haswell' Processor.
It uses DDR3 -- more specifically DDR3L -- memory.
It cannot be DDR4; the CPU physically does not support DDR4 memory.

DDR3-1600 would be correct since the i7-4710HQ supports 1333 and 1600 memory speeds.
 
Again, we don't know how you are doing this "2505 MHz" overclock for your RAM.
The effective speed is 1600 MHz, but the ACTUAL speed is 800 MHz -- none of those are close to 2505 MHz.
Very little DDR3 RAM can reach 2500+...1600 / 1866 / 2133 are the more common ones.
 
Your CPU operates a 2.5 GHz (~2500 MHz), and can boost up to 3.5 GHz if power and temperature allows.

I'm not sure if this is a joke, a challenge, or you are asking for advice, so I'm going to assume the latter.
 
Ram can never be used as a boot drive because when it loses power, all the data in it is wiped, and when you are booting up a computer from a no power state...hopefully you see the obvious conundrum here....

It would take more than the work it's worth to pop the board out and check for cold solder joints, but maybe. Though I don't know why giving it time would be a consistent solution in that case.

Only if it been done nicely, I am no app developer, but I had use many forum app that didn't work, and I can imagine making an reliable app for different devices will not be easy.
 
Moreover, making an app that works isn't cheap, so I can totally understand why LMG is not going to invest into it when the forum is not expected to make profit for them. After all, the mobile web version works.

I couldn't think of any better mobile UI for a forum than this, maybe there's better UIs out there. I haven't tried reddit's mobile app and have no interest to but again as is, LTTs mobile site is fine lol

I've seen far worse mobile sites so by far they did a really good job with it.

 
If OP wants a dedicated button to launch the website for the forum on iOS and Android there's a way to do that I believe.

Besides if you wish to use the forum on the go, use Chrome for Android & the mobile version of the website.
It works great on most screen sizes & looks pretty slick imho.

I always see on forums threads saying that AMD needs to catch up with intel or nvidia.I cant understand why does every body want competition.I have an amd cpu and an nvidia card.I am still a fanboy of intel.I got the cpu because it was cheap and enough for what i do (gaming) but i will still support intel because it is the foundation.It has made the biggest discoveries and we owe to intel it got us where we are today when amd was not existent.And there amd comes to steal some of intels profit.Same with nvidia.Also more things make the consumer more confusedas to what to buy.Soooo... What do u guys think
