  1. I can put it in simpler terms or answer some questions about it lol. I mainly made the math in my own curiosity, but thought it can also be interesting to other photography nerds. Simply put: Lens lets in 2x more light, but sensor area at 10x zoom is also about 2x smaller. Quality at 10x at higher should be a little better on the s24u thanks to 12.5mpix vs 10mpix, while the sensor area vs lens brightness cancel each other out basically.
  2. Can you please explain what you mean by that? If you are a bit more specific then that would be helpful. If you mean that zooming in gallery after the fact when the photo is taken, then yeah. 12Mp really means that you need to get the image right out the gate and you can't zoom in on it afterwards. I owned the X compact, that was 20mpix, so had a bit more freedom in that aspect. But on the S22 you should be able to do 50mpix too. In low light situations you need to use the dedicated night mode, it isn't built into the normal "photo" mode, you need to swipe to video, then swipe up again until you get to night mode. It is about 20x better than the normal auto mode, and nothing less than impressive in low light situations.

Looked it up, and wow I forgot that thing ever existed. A really interesting concept.
  4. The first few, maybe 3-4 generations of the pixel phones had the same exact cameras every year, but they also improved massively yearly too. Image sensors really aren't the barrier in these age of platoed tech development, it is more about the image processing. I guarantee the S24 pictures will come out better than the S22 ones in all situations, even if you aren't interested in AI, this is exactly where it helps.

Same issue when directly hotsoptting my Samsung s23 connection to windows lol. At least usb tethering works somewhat fine, until it crashes the task manager in half an hour and screws with a few other features. So if you can usb-tether on the iphone, try that and then use the windows hotspot feature, should also give interesting results.

Thankfully the studio version has direct download, so you don't need to give them any data after buying the licence. There was or should still be a work-around to get a direct download for the normal version too without that pop-up, but as I have used the studio version for years I really can't be sure if it still works.

Hey @Kilrah how is lens flare on your Avata? Mi…

Yeah, I agree with @Kilrah, that kind of insane streaking is usually caused by a dirty or a foggy lens, it is really hard to construct a lens that performs that bad. ND filters wouldn't make it better, as they can cause internal reflections etc. So I would try to get in front of the issue first, inspect the lens throughoutly, maybe with a flashlight, and see if it is a bit greasy maybe.

Valve Index or upgrade from the 6950XT?

Valve index really isn't worth the asking price, so unless you get it used for like 500$, I wouldn't get it, especially in 2024. It is a 5 year old headset that was kinda outdated on release date, so technologically speaking absolutely not worth the high asking price. For example quest 2 can do 90% of what the index can, at 250$, quest 3 can do 99% at 500$. So wait for Valve Deckard, or get a quest 3.

Asus made a foldable phone? That totally flew under my radar.
  11. The 5x camera on the S24 ultra is 50Mp, pixel size 0.7µm, F3.4, 115mm eq (real focal length 18.6mm), sensor size 1/2.52 (sony IMX854, 5.75 x 4.32 mm). The 10x camera on the S23 ultra is 10mp, pixel size 1.12µm, F4.9, 230mm equiv (real focal length 27.2mm), sensor size is 1/3.52 (Sony IMX754, 4.3mm x 3.22mm) The new S24 ultra at 10x will be 5.75 x 4.32 mm / 2 = 2.8mm x 2.16mm. So the sensor area is about 2x smaller, 13.8cm2 vs 6cm2. But it will be 50/2/2 = 12.5mpix vs 10mpix on the old sensor. The new lens is exactly 1 EV brighter, F3.4 vs F4.9, so it lets in exactly 2x more light, effectively counteracting the fact that the sensor collects about 2x less light due to size. So image quality at 10x should be about the same, if not a bit sharper due to more megapixels, and it can use a 2x higher shutterspeed in all situations, so it should give better results in lower light. As far as higher zooms go, the extra few megapixels will help, but more difference should come from the new ISP and the better frame stacking methods the new phone can use. All the other cameras are the same, so no need to do any calculations, they will just benefit from the new ISP and better AI processing, so images should look better, how much is a different question. I like the 4k 120fps option on the main lens too, and that you can use all lenses at 4k 60fps, instead of being locked into the single lens when starting to record.
  12. I wish for Nicky V to go solo, oh wait, he already did. Then maybe Taran, oh, he also already went. Surely Ivan hasn't left yet, oh, he is also gone. Out of the still working there crew, James, Alex and Riley I guess.
  13. White GPUS are niche already, there doesn't need to be a ton of variety of them. Seems like you have good choices available anyways, both Taichi OC and Powercolor Hellhound are decent cards, I don't see why you would need more choice. Also worth noting that no filter is perfect, maybe the website you are on doesn't list the Sapphire cards for example, because they are not pure white, but mixed with other colors.
  14. Look at crystaldiskinfo, or/and do the HDD health checks through seagate software, make sure. Faulty hardware is the nr1 reason for file corruption. Probably your windows is installed on that ssd, so look at crystaldiskinfo, and try to find some SSD health checking utility too, most manufacturers provide them for their SSDs.
  15. I just made the same mistake back when I was starting too, went looking for the best fans for my radiator, spent a lot of money, only to discover the different in temps was 1-2celsius, so all that money wasted for nothing. I could have gotten an extra 32gb of ram for that money, or a better motherboard, more storage, anything. Sometimes the best option is just to stay reasonable and invest that money wisely into something else. For the price of a few high end fans you can already get a 1tb GEN4 m.2 for example
  16. The Arctic Freezer 2 radiator itself is the most efficient on the market. NZXT gets to the top of the charts only thanks to having the power of Boeing 747 in your room. This is why both are limited to 40DB, the Arctic takes the top of the leaderboard, because it is the most efficient design (radiator, pump, overall package) out of all of them. I have NZXT fans, at 100% you can hear them through the door and next 2 rooms over, please don't do it. Please don't overthink your cooling solution. Arctic is a budget Noctua, the fans are really silent and IT STILL COOLS VERY WELL. There is no point in having the "best solution on paper that is cooler by 1c", but what you can't stand because the computer sounds like it is an DJI Mavic about to take off next to your ears, 24/7. If you wanted the "best" cooling, why even take the compromise that is an AIO, and go straight to liquid nitrogen or a freezer setup? The arctic is the best compromise out of all of them. It provides MORE THAN ENOUGH cooling for your cpu, WHILE STAYING ACTUALLY REASONABLE ACUSTICS WISE. I would go stock Arctic Freezer 2, biggest radiator size that fits in your case, and stock Arctic fans.
  17. Then that is a weird issue with your motherboard, don't know what else to tell you, as nothing should be changing your bios settings. Either way as everyone has said, don't do the exhange, as 5800x is higher grade silicon, and just doesn't make sense to downgrade while taking a loss. My bios settings remain as I set them, so idk. make sure you save the bios, you could even save the eco mode into the default bios settings on some motherboards, play around, see what you can do.

btw. is techlinked on halt too? I mean, I don't…

It is yeah, that is the problem with fixing something that is already established into the core of something. If Everyone got together and dealed with the problem 7 years ago we wouldn't be here now, looking at that big mess happening. But I know that LTT will get through it and I really hope that Linus actually learns something for the first time, instead of closing his ears and yelling "lalalala I am right, you are wrong", like he has done in every previous drama he has been in.
  19. Origami Cactus

btw. is techlinked on halt too? I mean, I don't…

I mean, there is point. As the problem with LTT was systemic, every single employee was part of the system. So it makes sense to halt the whole ship, and retrain everyone at once.
  20. yeah, really worth noting that while it might seem not a big deal, 40db, 50db, the sound difference is only 10, small change, the reality is that sound is logaritmic. over 50db is really annoying and sounds like your personal jet engine, not something you want to hear every day. From pure cooling capability, the arctic wins, it can cool the chip more if you strap the same fans to it, as the design is more efficient.
  21. Absolutely no point. The 5700 is the 5800x, just with lower power limits. I don't understand why you have a weird complex with turning on the ECO mode in the bios, it is literally what the 5700 is. If you have an allergy against the word "ECO" for some reason, open the advanced panel in bios and type "65w" in yourself. There is no point in downgrading, as 5800x is the higher grade of silicon between the 2. That means, when limited to the same exact power limit, it will run faster. (potentially) As far as chip cooking itself goes, again just your personal phobia, not a real thing. So just set the chip to 65w limit and you are done. Bios can't change settings on its own. It only reverts back to default if you update bios to a newer version, or if you don't have the bios battery inside the motherboard.
  22. I mean it is completely fine, the instructor is the one steering, opening the parachute etc, you are just along for the ride, so really notinh scary. But if you have any phobia about it then it will look scary yeah. Also going skydiving with a crazy hangover probably not the best idea either.
  23. Yeah, I don't think he has changed either, he has always been that arrogant "i am right, you are wrong" kind of guy that does janky things. Back in the old house where everyone were friends, they were better at keeping him at bay, and also as you say, they were actually making fun videos where it didn't really matter they were janky, that is what he was known for. You can see that arrogant personality slip out of Linus in even the old videos, but then there was Nicky V or someone else back at him with a quick jab or a joke for acting like a douche. Now he only has Luke who really can't control him anymore.
  24. Origami Cactus

    Ayo not him too 💀

Yeah, I used to watch the wan show a few years back, only because of Luke, he is a great guy, he really tried to steer linus to the right path but it just didn't work. I don't know about the "he doesn't deserve it part", he has been getting away with acting like this for literal years, you kinda make your bed, and then you lie in it. In the old house he was held in control by all the old OG LTT staff, like Luke, Nicky V etc, but he still was the same person he was today, he was just more caged thanks to being surrounded with good people that kept him in check.
