    - Floatplane only at first was a bad take.
    - A lot of the criticism was just lies so they're not going to agree with everything
    - Floatplane subscribers have been asking for this style of content for a while.
    - Do you have a better alternative?
    - I felt it added a bit of humor to an overly negative video, but that's subjective.

I genuinely don't understand what people want here. Clearly, nothing would be good enough lmao. The 'scripted text' is just a nonsense comment. If they didn't read off a script they'd no doubt forget something or make mistakes and people would be arguing about that.

    Hello folks,

I had a meeting with Microsoft and they are taking our video about Windows Modern Standby very seriously.  If your Windows laptop experiences this problem (extreme battery drain while asleep, finding your laptop super warm in your bag with the battery drained) then there are a couple of things you can do.

For your own personal troubleshooting you can create a Sleep Study.  To look at this open Command Prompt as an admin and type in "powercfg /sleepstudy".  This creates a log of your devices battery life and sleep states, maybe there is something interesting in there.

More importantly, you can send feedback to Microsoft so they can try and diagnose the problem.  Here is how that works:

The Feedback Hub is the best way to provide detailed feedback on issues to the Windows engineering team. The tool gathers detailed logs and can run additional diagnostics to help us diagnose and fix issues.

Launch the Feedback Hub and give your feedback a relevant title.

Click “Report a Problem” then provide more information on the specific issue. Any additional details are valuable.

Click Next then choose Power and Battery >> Sleep (it may automatically select this based on what information you provided in the description). Selecting the right area is important as it directs the issue to the appropriate engineering team and gathers relevant telemetry from the system.

Click Next, then select New feedback.

On the Add more details section, mark as High Severity if you’ve hit the battery drain issue, then choose one of the items below, I’d pick Inability to use my PC if your battery is dead.

Continuing in section 4 – this is the critical part – gathering additional data, without this we will not have enough data to diagnose the issue.

For the battery drain issues please select Sleep (it should be selected automatically). Click Start Recording, button turns read, it will gather data, wait 10s or so then press stop (you don’t need to go through the actual sleep process, nor do you need the screenshots) it may take a minute or two to process after stopping the recording. You can also put your computer to sleep during the process then reawaken it – it will collect data across the process.

    Click Submit.

The most difficult part of diagnosing Windows Modern Standby problems is getting good data, so with any luck the LTT community can send them boat loads of data to try and get it fixed.

I think the use case of this video has been completely blown out of proportion. I'm not defending LTT on this video, but I think they meant for this video to show the possibilities of making your own router rather than a step-by-step in-depth guide.

I have never seen any content on YouTube or floatplane that has made me think "Gee, this is great content, but the 1080p resolution sucks.  It would be SO much better in 4k"

I'd rather them charge for 4k and keep the ad count lower on the free tier than continue to offer 4k but turning YouTube into broadcast TV levels of advertisements.

Oh yeah on reddit it was discussed that Linus's graph was very missleading given that they say it's exponential growth but also cut out everything from July 2015 to May 2019.

EDIT: For clarities sake the second graph was created by /u/StreetWave3339 who posted this graph on a subreddit discussion where I learned about the topic. I posted the comment here before having a chance to finish the video since I noticed no one in the discussion here had brought it up while it was one of the top posts on the LTT subreddit.

It might be a good idea to include non-gaming related test. Such as Blender rendering, Ai training, encoding and decoding, etc. That way you may be able to test other components, such as CPUs

    Presenting... MarkBench!

This is the home of MarkBench discussion for the time being! While this post is relatively empty right now, you can look forward to occasional development updates, answers to common questions and (eventually) a link to the software!

    What the heck is MarkBench?
Wouldn't you like to know? And wouldn't we like to tell you! Check out our announcement video!

    When will it be released?
    When it's ready!

    Is it free?
When it launches, MarkBench will be completely free.

    Can I contribute?
In the future? Maybe! In the now? Development will be done in-house. BUT, you can contribute by providing feedback and feature suggestions in this thread!

We want to hear from you! What do you think of MarkBench? What features would you like to see?

Freaking 5 eyes, 10 eyes, and 15 eyes alliances are going hard on Huawei, ZTE, and Kaspersky antivirus firm this year. Dam American can't be friend with China and Russia. I know we have a lot of questions to China and Russia about their security and privacy practices, and we know they don't give a dam about security and privacy because China and Russia are communist ( Well, Russia can be Soviet Union if Putin wants to bring it back). " Network Security risk " my ass. They don't trust China and Russia products because these eyes alliances know they are going to spy and hack.  It doesn't matter whether you are using America tech products, China tech products, or Russia tech products because at the end of the day you are going to spy by the government. No difference by banning Huawei, ZTE, and Kaspersky security firm.

Note: Since writing this a few minutes ago, the walmart.com links have since been pulled down by Walmart and it now redirects to the "Gaming Desktop" search page. Will leave the links there in case Walmart relists the product.

Walmart's PCs have been removed for sale from the Walmart website. This comes days after Walmart dropped the price of the DTW1 $200 from $1400 down to $1200.
When trying to view the Walmart product listing for the OVERPOWERED DTW1, DTW2, and DTW3, the option to buy the product has been removed and replaced with a notice that the item is no longer available. If you're thinking it was a short lived product, then it was. The OVERPOWERED gaming PC lineup was only released by Walmart less than a month ago.

It's worth noting that the message displayed on the Walmart website states that the product is "No longer available", as opposed to the standard "Out of stock" message when an item is out of stock, so it's unlikely that they have simply sold out. (Although it is a possibility that it is just out of stock and this may be fake news. It's also possible that they are temporarily removing them for sale while they sort out issues in their assembly line or make a change to parts used in the system due to technical issues).

Can't say that I'm surprised. They received a lot of bad publicity once units started to ship. Out of the 3 review videos I saw (GN, Bitwit, LTT), all 3 reviewers had serious issues with their system. Both Bitwit and LinusTechTips received systems that did not have the PCIe power connector to the graphics card plugged in; a state that would prevent the system from booting, and one that most tech-illiterate people (the sort of people who buy a prebuilt from Walmart) would not know how to fix. Gamers Nexus had it much worse, having ordered the $2100 DTW3 gaming system and instead due to a shipping error receiving the $1400 DTW1 instead. Judging by the reviewer experiences, and the customer ratings on the Walmart store which show an average 1.7 star rating for the DTW3 system, it's obvious that this OVERPOWERED Gaming PC lineup has proven to be problematic for Walmart.

There were also a number of other concerns with the PC, such as the DTW1 lacking front USB 3.0 ports and instead relying on a add in USB Type C card at the rear of the machine, partitioning the HDD in to 4 partitions for seemingly no reason at all, pairing the i7 8700 with an extremely cheap H310M motherboard, use of single stick 16GB of RAM instead of dual channel on the DTW1, a cheap power supply, hot gluing cables to the motherboard, extremely restricted air flow due to the glass front panel and insufficient spacing, and probably more.

You can view some of the reviews of the systems here to see the issues faced:

Update: It's been noted that the Walmart links to the DTW1, DTW2, and DTW3 have since been pulled down by Walmart. The links for the products instead now link to the search page on the Walmart website for "Gaming PCs". This change has happened in the last 10 minutes of posting this thread.

UPDATE #2: Walmart has revived their teammate and has brought the OVERPOWERED gaming PCs back to life! The DTW1, DTW2, and DTW3 are now all re-listed on the Walmart website and available to purchase. Turns out this was fake news after all, sorry folks!

    DTW1 - $1199
    DTW2 - $1899
    DTW3 - $2099

UPDATE #3 - @Jackson noticed that Walmart has dropped the price on all 3 models.
    DTW1 $999.00 (From $1199) (Was originally $1399 but was already discounted $200) DTW2 $1499.00 (From $1899) DTW3 $1699.00 (From $2099)

Microsoft is using data from private GitHub repositories to help enhance it's Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning aspects of the upcoming Visual Studio release(s).

Previously Microsoft was using data from public GitHub repositories to enhance their AI powered platforms. Although it doesn't seem to have worked out for them since they resorted to buying GitHub for Data.
