    Oops?

Apparently, a teen from Melbourne, Australia was able to access some of Apple's secured servers for over a year, being able to access confidential information, some of which included customer information.

But the reason why he hacked? Not for money or anything. Nope.
    Haha, stay classy Australia.

Nayru reacted to HungoverRabbit in Google records your location even when you tell it not to
A team of Princeton researchers has confirmed AP's claim that Google records users location data even when "location history" is paused.

It seems that the only effect of pausing location history is to stop users, and not Google, from seeing where they have been.

To be honest I would prefer if Google was more upfront about the quantity of data they gather instead of giving seemingly useless options to disable/pause "Location history"; definitely now that consumers only have the choice between Android and iOS.

Title and following quote are from Ars Technica.

Here are the actual lines within the files:
"Steam_Settings_Compat" "Steam Play" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Title" "Steam Play Settings" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Info" "Steam Play will automatically install compatibility tools that allow you to play games from your library that were built for other operating systems." "Steam_Settings_Compat_Enable" "Enable Steam Play for supported titles" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Advanced_Title" "Advanced" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Forced_Info" "You can use Steam Play to test games in your library that have not been verified with a supported compatibility tool." "Steam_Settings_Compat_Forced_Enable" "Enable Steam Play for all titles" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Advanced_Info" "You may select a compatibility tool to use with games that have not been tested or verified to work on this platform.\n\nThis may not work as expected, and can cause issues with your games, including crashes and breaking save games." "Steam_Settings_Compat_Default_Tool" "Compatibility tool:" "Steam_Settings_Compat_Info_Link" "SteamPlay FAQ" "Steam_Settings_Compat_No_Default" "None selected"
Interestingly enough, the file doesn't specify the actual OSes so there is a chance that this could work in reverse (Linux -> Windows) as well as being used for macOS. Last I remember, Valve has stated that it hasn't given up on Linux gaming so hopefully this is the solution they had in mind.

    The RTX Gaming Laptop Guide
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Other Guides:  Computer Parts | Reseller Guide   So this time around I'm dividing by graphics card.  That's because the prices this gen are all over the place and in general don't fit any nice cut off points like under 1500...  Unfortunately for RTX you'll be paying more than that.  Note that until I reach the portables section these laptops are more focused on performance and non max q components.   Categories: RTX 2060 Machines RTX 2070 Machines RTX 2080 Machine No Limit Portables   IMPORTANT: Links are to view the product.  It doesn't mean that's where you should buy from.   BE CAREFUL TO AVOID 1x16GB ram stick.  You'll take a significant performance hit this gen with single channel RAM.   BASE PRICE: Generally what I'd consider a starting config price range.  Should be about 16GB of ram and either an ssd + hdd or larger sized ssd.  I try and make it a "base" useful config.  A config with 8GB of ram for gaming is fairly useless.     Owner's lounges (where actual owners of the models discuss their machines) will be linked, though not everything has an owners lounge.     ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   RTX 2060 Machines:   This is where stuff starts getting good.  Now we have some serious gaming horsepower coming into the mix, with the RTX 2060 present in all recommendations.  Anything less is not a smart use of money for a gaming machine in this price range.  Quality also increases here.   Sager NP8961/Clevo P960ED (17" version here)  - A lightning strike has a lot more power than a surge protector can protect against. If you really don't want to chance losing hardware, it's best to unplug it.
