  1. would save that money that you intend to spending on an aio for a better GPU. On a 1060 just not worth it.
  2. a i5 8400 system would approx. draw 205 watt so a 250/300 watt powersupply would be enough throw in a small ssd for boot and most used programs like the browser
  3. GPUs and machine learning go hand in hand. For example giving the computer cat pictures and let him figure out if this is a cat or not.
  4. here is an article comparing 1080ti vs 2x1080ti https://uk.hardware.info/reviews/7270/22/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-review-incl-sli-faster-card-for-the-same-price-gtx-1080-ti-slinperformance-per-game Battlefield 1 (DX12) - 3840x2160 - Ultra 65,2 61,8 -5,2% the fps are down due to sli in battlefield 1 for example, though that is probably due to DX12
  5. SLI might not scale well or isnt supported at all. This could lead to no performance gain in some games at all despite spending another 700 dollar on a second GPU. And you might get microlags do to the fact that one card is waiting for the other to compute. If it is possible for you to wait (two weeks for anouncement and maybe another month for availability) your bucks will be probably better spent on one single GPU.
  6. In the future maybe Apple vs Intel since there was a rumour lately that apple could ditch the intel processors in their macs and go with inhouse developed cpus. Might be just a negotiation tactic of apple but if not this will be for sure interesting. in some regards it would make sense for apple to develop their own cpus for laptop at least since the cpu chips they are developing for the iphone/ipad are power efficient and already close to entry level macbook and high margin.
  7. do you mind sharing the rest of your pc components and games you play?
  8. if the 1080ti isnt powerful enough i would recommend waiting for th 30th August. Maybe nvidia is presenting there the 2080ti/1180ti. why do you need a 1080ti sli config anyway? do you have a 4k monitor and your fps isnt sufficient?
  9. Thanks for your answer, i have hairworks disabled (dont really notice it that much) but my frames still hovering around the 40s with some setting turned down and mildly oced GPU.
  10. Hello Internet, WQHD 144/120Hz or not that is the question. Currently i have a 4k 60Hz IPS Display and am supper happy with it apart from gaming in Overwatch. Im am going to upgrade to the 1170/2070 or something 1080ti aquivalent so i can finally game Witcher 3 at 60 fps in 4k. Lately im playing more and more Overwatch though and am now considering to get a higher refresh monitor and since a 4k high refresh neither the GPUs needed to power these are in my budget im considering WQHD. I wouldnt get rid of my 4k monitor and would have a dual monitor setup. What will be probably annoying though for me atleast if im dragging a window from one monitor to another where would be a size difference in the displayed window. Furthermore im not sure if my 6600k has enough horse power to power 120/144hz in WQHD. My current rig: CPU: i5 6600k@4.3 Ghz with i believe the Pure Rock bequiet CPU cooler GPU: KFA GTX 1070 MB: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5-EU RAM: 2x8GB 3200Mhz 1st SSD: 950 Pro SSD 512 GB My budget for the upgrade (GPU+possibly Monitor+possibly CPU) is around 1200 Euro. Other games i enjoy playing: Anno 1404 (going to buy the upcoming one probably), Skyrim (planning on modding it), Far Cry 4 (not going to play the 5th one), Tomb Raider (the newest), Witcher 2, Total War: Medieval 2 (played Warhammer and Rome cpu or graka not keeping up but i am probably not going to play them much more). If i am going down with the WQHD 120/144Hz route which monitor could you recommend? If the 6600k isnt sufficient should i keep the motherboard and get a 7700k? Looking forward for you answers, appreciate that you are taking some time commenting.
