  1. Hi kodaka, i see you had Gl503ge and so do i. My cpu temps are touching 95c even after repasting with arctic MX 4 twice. But no good. I dont think i applied the paste in wrong way as i did lots of research on how to apply properly. How was your temps after repaste and should i go for thermal grizzly kryonaut(its not liquid metal) thanks.

  2. I think this is dependent on Asus know, because the CPU use to take about 55W average, the fan is loud, but that is fine with me. But after BIOS update ( as I remember ), the fan run quieter, and the CPU is taking 45W. That make me believe that the cooling system is efficient enough to handle this amount of heat. My laptop fans are 12V, and it spin the same RPM as a Asus TUF ( We are taking a ROG )
  3. About that, I have already done it, but the BIOS just shut me of. The max load that I can get is 60W, and it only last about 15s before PL1 Kick in, after that, 45W. Changing the time the turbo boost in XTU already, with undervolt. But the BIOS still kick in. Maybe tell ASUS to change the BIOS?? I don't think they will listen
  4. I'm using a gaming laptop, and it is suffered from PL1. It make my CPU run really slow, or at least, slower than what it could perform. On Intel ARK, the I7 8750h has TDP around 45W. But a lots of gaming laptop can run stable at higher TDP, about 60W, or event 80W at peak. And I'm sure that my laptop can run stable at 60W (CPU only). Is there a way to tweak the PL1? P/s: I'm using ROG GL503GE.
  5. Yeah, I agree about that. The cooling system is capable, but the PL1 hit too early that even the system isn't ThermalThrottling, the PL 1 stop the CPU at 45W. And can you explain more the additional Info. And why lowing the Volt while the system at Power Limit still come with a better result. Tks!
  6. I think every time I tried to the ROG GL503GE as a normal Laptop, it just twisted itself. Normally, I don't Undervolt my Laptop. Since I had already change the Thermal Paste on it, the temp is just great for gaming. Not until yesterday, when me and my friend try the cinebech score, mine was lower than him. The odd thing was that we use the same CPU (i7 8750H) and his score was better than mine. But there was no thermalthrottling. Then I tried to undervolt. As I read on the web, people usually set it at -0.140V, so I did like them. And the score got better. Then I get to the point where the Undervolt is at -0,210V, and it still run Cinebech just fine.
  7. Yeah, some of my friends do recommend it, but how about IC Diamond, Linus used it alot.
  8. For some reason, my laptop got Motherboard VRM Thermal throttling. It can't keep the i7-8750H stable at it boost clock and go down to the base clock ( 2.2 Ghz ) all cores. If I use a better thermal pas for the VRM, will it run better? And also a good thermal paste recommendation pls! Tks! P/s: No liquid metal pls! I am using this laptop for school and work, so can't take that risk.
  9. I may need to give this to Warranty Services.
  10. I did reinstall the Windows with all the Drivers, also running the newest BIOS. But It just keep the 0.8 Ghz clock speed.
  11. Yeah, the GL503GE have two 12 V fan, and if I not wrong, 4 Heat pipe.
  12. Yes, I do understand that Rendering is very CPU hungry. But I tested on Aida 64, and there is no thermal throttling on the CPU. And for comparing, the Asus TUF Gaming FX504GE-E4059T have the same Hardware as the ROG, same wight, thickness, same case but on gaming, the CPU keep it self at 3.2 Ghz and GPU max load. I did test Render on the other machine, and it get a higher clock speed. 3.0ghz and never go down to 0.8Ghz. And remember that the TUF is a cheaper version of the ROG.
  13. I just bought a ROG Strix Scar GL503GE with i7-8750H and GTX 1050Ti. After buy it, right away, I update all the Drivers include the BIOS to v 308. I haven't tested the BIOS v306, but my laptop is overheating. Just after I press the render on Adobe Premiere, on XTU, it said Motherboard VR Throttling. The CPU clock speed jump from 3.9 Ghz to 2.2 Ghz. Not only that, when I play Overwatch on High Setting, the CPU clock even go down to 0.8Ghz. And yes, I did turn on Over boost, and l even lift it up, so that the fan get as much air as possible. But the CPU sitll down to 0.8Ghz. Is anyone uesd the ROG Strix Scar GL503GE that have the same problem like me? Or it was a bad machine among the good ones?
