Alim got a reaction from Fasauceome in Do I need to change my pc parts? Do I need something else?
H670-PLUS might have problems with a 12 core CPU. I have this board and was researching potential upgrade path recently.
Based on this video, B660-Plus, which has similar VRM, limits CPU performance in standard air flow and 21c room temp. Real temps during summer are likely to be higher, meaning that CPU is likely to throttle even more.

Alim reacted to Jurrunio in Do cheap H670 boards support BCLK overclocking with K cpus?
Only the B660-F and B660-G among all non Z690 boards from Asus support BCLK OC. Also K or not does not affect their BCLK OC support, but memory OC range is much better on the K because of unlocked System Agent voltage. Single thread heavy tasks are often memory intensive as well.
That's why you dont buy secondary components before having solid plans of the major components.

Acronis instant restore would do what you need. It capable of deploying one image to many computers. Also it installs drivers required to boot image on new hardware

Alim reacted to comicsansms in Is reddit a safe place to buy Windows keys
I find it crazy that people pay for key that are probably stolen from somewhere, but they wouldn't pirate it themself.
Reddit is not the way. Try and get it off your school. I am able to get a single key of 7, 8. 8.1 and 10 keys off my school for free.

Alim got a reaction from SgtShaken4 in Does Windows 10 reset keep my games?
Are sure you are talking about windows reset (refresh), not reinstall from usb? I know it removes apps, but doesn't it apply only to apps installed in Program Files? Also it keeps personal files, but I don't know is that all my files or just my documents, my pictures, etc

Alim reacted to W-L in io plate pushes mobo
That's perfectly fine as long as the motherboard isn't complaining about the mounting holes or the PCI-E lanes don't have problems installing cards your golden.

difficult to see, but from that angle, it look normal... After a couple a builds, I came to the conclusion that perfectly aligned IO shield w/ motherboard is like the silicone lottery...

Alim reacted to dragoon20005 in 4790 vs 4790k OC
the i7 has 8 treads
the i5 only has 4 treads
in games both will be almost the same
but in productivity application which need more treads
than the i7 will pull ahead

Alim reacted to dragoon20005 in Go SLI and 4790k or 4690 without SLI
the performance difference between the gen of GPUs tends to be around 10-20%
your daul 970 will last at least 2-3 years before you need to upgrade
you only concern is if your games support SLi, if not you are stuck with one GPU power
if you worry about SLi now, get the GTX980 and call it a day
wait till the next GPU comes out and decide to add another GPU or upgrade to the single next gen card

Alim reacted to bomerr in PSU influence on overcloxking potetential
On a 2jz-gte it's a 20hp gain at stock boost levels.
semantics, the battery affects the capacity (among other things)
But anyways back on OP PSU have more characteristics then just output. Ripple voltage is a big deal for instance.

Alim reacted to loccilucas in Usefulness of huge CPU coolers in comparsion with small ones
Yes, bigger heatsinks perform better (alot better) than smaller ones so having a small
Heatsink does limit overclocking capabilities at the same being loud.

FFans for case or just for cooler? Having it push or pull doesn't really matter, difference is only 1-3C. Two fans is better but can make more noise. Or it could be silent for same temps that make 1 fan spin crazy. Try with 1 first and add another if you feel like it.
For case fan config we need to know which case and what fans.
