  1. In the latest video, "My pool leaked and killed my computer" Alex was wearing an Edison Motors hat
  2. oK, in the device manager I select the RealTek PCIe GbE Lan Controller for the built in ethernet on my motherboard I assume. the Speed and Duplex mode is set to Auto Negotiation. Is this correct. I also have the option to set it too 1.0 GBPS Full Duplex, 10 MBPS Half Duplex, 10 MPBS Full Duplex and 100 MBPS Full and Half Duplex. Im new to this networking stuff I'm sorry I don't know this too well.
  3. Recently I upgraded my motherboard to the ASUS Prime z390-P and got all the drivers installed and everything, however my Ethernet connection is now really slow. I usually get 100mbps uplink and 200mbps downlink, however now I am only getting 10mbps uplink and 20mbps downlink. I tested my WiFi on my MacBook and it was fine and I plugged the exact same Ethernet cable from my PC into my MacPro and it also worked perfectly. I do not know why my internet connection is so slow only on my PC.
  4. I've been planning to upgrade my entry level gaming/windows pc for a while and since ive really only worked on macs and apple computers im still a bit unfamiliar with PC gaming and standard hardware so i was wondering where I should upgrade, right now I have 1 8gb stick of ddr4 2666 mhz ram, and a Ryzen 5 1600 on a x470 motherboard, Im looking to upgrade to Intel because I prefer Intel over Ryzen, especially since I'm really only going to be gaming, video editing and multithreaded workloads are still going to be done on my MacPro. Right now im looking at something like this: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i5-9600K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor $259.99 @ B&H CPU Cooler EVGA - CLC 120 74.82 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $69.89 @ OutletPC Motherboard MSI - Z390-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $129.99 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill - Aegis 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4-2666 Memory Purchased For $0.00 Storage Crucial - MX500 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Purchased For $0.00 Video Card MSI - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB VENTUS OC Video Card Purchased For $0.00 Case NZXT - H500 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case Purchased For $0.00 Power Supply Thermaltake - Smart Pro RGB 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Purchased For $0.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $459.87 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-01-24 14:52 EST-0500 However would it maybe make more sense to get a cheaper CPU like the i5-8400 and instead get another 8gb stick of ram, a 240mm AIO and a cheaper H370 motherboard? I would appreciate any advice you guys have to offer.
  5. ok ill do some more research on that board, thank you to everyone that replied to this post
  6. Is this a good Z390 board? It fits my builds color scheme and doesn't cost more than the ROG STRIX B360 board. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/qpL48d/msi-z390-a-pro-atx-lga1151-motherboard-z390-a-pro
  7. I'm upgrading to Intel because I barely record or stream, I mostly just game so there is no point in me getting a AMD cpu
  8. i dont think a regular i5-9600 exists, at least you can't buy it on any major retailer website
  9. I recently decided my pc was due for an upgrade to an intel chipset and I'm looking to replace the mobo cpu and ram but as i was putting together some parts I noticed an error warning on pcpartpicker (I was using this to easily check compatibility) telling me that I may need to update the motherboard bios with an older 8th gen cpu before i can use a 9th gen cpu with the motherboard. The motherboard I was planning on using was the Asus ROG STRIX B360-F motherboard with a i5-9600k cpu. Does anyone know if this motherboard already ships with an updated bios that supports 9th gen, or when motherboards will start to be sold with an updated bios? I really would like to avoid using the older 8th gen i5 because it is more expensive and slower and older. 10. I've been wondering the same thing, i have around 300 dollars to spend on a graphics card and was thinking of either buying a 1070 or waiting until the rtx 2060 card comes out and the price drops to 300-350 dollars
  11. I saved together some money and im looking to buy some ram for my pc, because my current ram is some garbage 2133 mhz 8gb OEM ram module or something, its really bad and doesnt even have a heat spreader and has ZERO overclocking headroom, anyway im looking to buy some good ram and really would like to not spend more than 60 dollars, I'm running a intel system on an Asus - Prime B360-Plus motherboard and am not really sure what ram i should buy, i would really like the ram to match the greyscale black and white theme i have going on in my pc and was thinking of buying this ram: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RHWfrH/adata-xpg-gammix-d10-8gb-2-x-4gb-ddr4-2666-memory-ax4u2666w4g16-dbg are there any better alternatives to this ram that wouldnt cost more than 60 dollars, I wouldn't mind buying some other heatspreaders for it to match my current build color theme like these ones: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07D8R1XZ3/ref=asc_df_B07D8R1XZ357692041/?tag=googshopde-21&creative=22434&creativeASIN=B07D8R1XZ3&linkCode=df0&hvadid=308872732263&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15726469781751749095&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9043551&hvtargid=pla-593753553550&th=1&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61255173493&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=308872732263&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15726469781751749095&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9043551&hvtargid=pla-593753553550
  12. My 2008 MacPro is still not only keeping up with today standards but is significantly faster than the average modern day pc. I cant speak for the pc side of things but what from what I've heard/read on the forums and what my pc user friend told me it seems that pc's degrade a lot faster.
