It is probably a CPU bottleneck. Fortnite and CSGO are pretty poor games to benchmark to know for sure though.

it probably is but maybe i just think the fps is bad because my persona rig is 1080 with 8700k or maybe it actually is a bottleneck but who knows

A ton. If you're getting stuttering frames then you probably have a bottleneck going on, feel free to see if your CPU usage is pinned at 100% in task manager. An i7 4770 would make an adequate upgrade.

i was testing out temps are good usage is about 50% on games with 1070 and probs 80-100 on cpu on fortnite all epic settings he gets around 80-100 csgo max settings 100-200 i feel like the fps jumps alot but maybe not it might just be cpu bottleneck

Nothing should happen if you go to far. It'll just fail to display or everything will get blurry. Just wait the 30 seconds and windows will revert back to what it was before.

Yeah but if you like accurate color then it's a trade off. Up to you.

on nvidia panel it says overclocking higher may cause damage and increase heat and voltage

Overclocking a monitor is more a process of reducing color depth to increase other data throughput like your referesh rate. If you overclock you'll have slightly worse colors and slightly better refresh rate.

if you revert the overclock the monitor then revert the overclock will it change the colors back to normal?

Z390 motherboards are generally better for overclocking than Z370 ones and get the newest updates, while some Z370 motherboards will no longer be supported/updated.

Well it's likely that you can't just throw your 9700k or whatever 9th gen cpu you have in a Z370 board without updating the bios first.

so lets say i got a 8700k would it work fine with a z390 or better could it oc higher or can it only max out at 5 i heard the new 9700k can go to 5.3 max but i dont know i was going to get a z390 because its newer i just thought it would be better for either cpu but idk

ok my boy... please leave this yeah 100$ is like 2h of work for me bs away here

We talk about tech and not about how much we earn or how poor others are

    alright? Thanks!

you can't argue against the price to perf ratio of AMD compared to intel.

Sure he asked for intel but we all should recommend what we think ist best. And almost everyboads here says: AMD

So sure state your opinion but don't brag about how much $$ you make

a 100$ saving for a pc with not much different performance can help some people very much

I would never buy amd when Intel is better even though I don’t make much I buy quality it was just a simple question on intel going on sale for Black Friday I don’t give a damn about amd

Intel and nvidia is better then amd and their gpu series

Then we agree after all and I can understand that things get heated up and sometimes taking out of context (we do write stuff after all and not all of us have English as our native)

People like you make it seem the i7 8700K is a single core processor.

The multi-treading/multi-tasking of the 8700K at 5ghz is much on pair with the Ryzen 7 chips, slight behind in favour for much stronger single and quadcore performance, frankly I don't get it why people keep parroting this stuff every where like it is such a 'gigantic' thing.

People acting like FPS doesn’t matter intel i7 clearly has the best performance all around like do they watch the benchmarks I would get a i9 but that’s so expensive

Agreed,..You only need to go Intel if your GPU/GAME is CAPABLE of 120-144+ FPS at 1080p (UltraSpec 1080/Ti) or 120-144FPS+ 1440p (UltraSpec 2080Ti)

Some games are just too shit to make it on either Processor.....
If your chasing less than that, either CPU will suffice at any typical resolution.

I’m a gamer who wants my FPS so intel is the better choice but this post is about Black Friday

Buying the cheapest Z390 motherboard and expecting it to support your OC to 5.3Ghz is not a wise move. If you're hoping to OC the CPU at all I'd recommend at least a mid-range board and something that isn't Asus as their offerings leave a lot to be desired this time around.

Why not asus it has a nice design and it’s 180 if not asus what about MSI MPG Z390 Gaming PRO Carbon

except it doesnt really show any noticeable advantage

    https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-9700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8700K/4030vs3937

Also liquid metalling the 8700k is much easier and superior to the soldered 9700k.

Either you go big for the 9900k, or go cheaper for the 8700k.

Then mid range boards aren't good enough. You'll need to invest in the top boards like the Asus Maximus 11 lineup or MSI Z390 Carbon or Gigabyte Z390 Extreme or Asrock Taichi.

Isn’t 10% more power better or not much of a difference?

Unless you care about overclocking and benchmark scores more than real world performance, the cheaper 8700k is the way to go. 9700k is just not worth that $50 more.

If you don't know what board to buy, just give us a budget and we'll find the best one out there for you.

I’ll be streaming and I just want to be able to max out overclocks on ram cpu and gpu I know 8700k has 6 core 12 thread and new one is 8 core 8 threads I just wanted the 9700k because it can oc to 5.3 which is honestly a decent increase I would think

  12. Hi I currently have a i5 7600k ocd to 5ghz and a 1080 duke I want a i7 because they are better then i5s but which one should I get 8700k or 9700k I plan on maxing out the on for maximum speed or should I wait for next years chips I stream often and I find my cpu can’t handle streaming my stream seems to lag a lot
