  1. Hey guys I'll be in the Richmond, Vancouver area for the next few months attending school. I'm looking for the best PC parts store so I can build an ITX gaming rig while I'm there. In the states we have Microcenter and Frys Electronics, any similar places like this in Canada?
  2. Ah I got it, thx for the clarification. Seems like I remember years ago when I started this if you tried to OC higher than the mem speed either PC would bootloop/BSOD or simply cap the CPU speed at the max speed supported by mem.
  3. But I'm asking is if get the minimum in your example the 2933 or must I get 3200 to achieve the 4.2 max boost. I basically don't wanna be locked at the base 3.6 ghz speed because the mem doesn't support it.
  4. Ah I see. Thx! What speed ram do I need to achieve the 4.2 max boost? Is 2933 sufficient??
  5. Hey guys I'm starting my first new build after 4 years and I have question about the ryzen 5 I'm eyeing on newegg. It specifically states "DDR 4 2933" are they saying its only compatible with this memory or do they mean 2933 and higher? Here is a great deal on the AMD RYZEN 5 2600X 6-Core 3.6 GHz (4.2 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 95W YD260XBCAFBOX Desktop Processor , https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=19-113-497 I found.
  6. I know a lot of games list 8gb of ram these days as required or recomended but I noticed after installing 16 gigs those same games went from almost maxing my previous 8gb ram to running about 10 gigs on average.
  7. Could it be windows 10 downloading updates in the background? I remember my PC updating over the course of 2 days with my last clean install

  8. Ah I see good illustration! Maybe this will help with some of the stuttering, hangs and frame drops I get in some my favorite games
  9. LOL no thx i'm good ?. I notice new CPU have more cache as well. Does that help a lot with gaming? ?
  10. Ah I see. It was so strange still seeing the same speeds 4 years later, also seems forums have gotten more friendly since then. Can't believe no one has cussed me out or called me a noob yet. ?
  11. Thx ? Shes my world!! But now I may have a reason to upgrade thx to you guys?? Can I blame ya'll when the wife complains lol!? Btw what happened to 5ghz CPU's? Moores law? Did they just give up upping the clock speeds?
  12. Ah thx for the clarification! Normally im really up on this tech stuff but I built my last rig (wife would let me lol) 4 years ago before my baby was born and figured with these new ryzen chips still clocked at what I had 4 years ago it was pointless lol
  13. Its definitely frames on certain scenes it will drop to 23fps and then back up to 60 fps
