  1. Hello if I buy a water cooler like the kraken or the Corsair h110i for a current build (the old water cooler started to make buzzing noises). Can I reuse it if I were to build a new system in a few months? thanks.
  2. I’ll look into reference length. I may overclock in the near future so should I take the 8086k?
  3. That’s what I’m aiming and waiting for. What monitor are you choosing?
  4. My goal is to build one without having to replace the expensive parts like CPU/GPU/MOBO. I don’t mind replace the cooling every now and then like I did with the current build (went from water cooling to heat sink to water cooling). The PSU price difference is not worth a little more no?
  5. I’ll look into it but I’m not a big fan of the founders edition.
  6. Is that extra 100$ worth it for the processor?
  7. 60fps later on when it’s an old build, I want hopefully 120fps minimum on ultra settings with the new build
  8. Thanks, I didn’t know there was 3600 mhz. I thought 3200 was the fastest
  9. 1080ti would add 400$, shouldn’t I just wait for the 1180? im not that educated in aio or custom loop. I’ll try to get into it but it’s most likely going to be a regular water cooler if it’s a headache.
  10. You could just keep the front panel off. I have an S340 and could choose to run the PC without a front panel if I wanted to, it would increase the air flow a lot and subsequently increase the temperatures So pick the H440 and it the temperatures are getting to high remove the front panel?
  11. sorry, miscounted somewhere. I stretched my first PC pretty far (i7 870. for 7 years). Stuck to medium settings for all my games. if I started with a 4770 instead (somehow with a time machine) I would still stretch it for 7 years, maybe one more. my work demands have changed though, so my current PC (2-3 years old) might see an upgrade in a year's time ,_, you'll do more if you upgrade from your GTX 770 though, this will get you better shadows and lighting effects (and larger textures with more VRAM). if you don't stutter during very busy scenes (e.g. you walk into a new area and the game doesn't freeze for a few seconds to load everything that's appearing) you should really do fine, otherwise lower the model detail in settings, or plan your next upgrade with a better CPU. make a post in New Builds when you're starting to plan for one. https://linustechtips.com/main/forum/18-new-builds-and-planning/ Start with a GTX1060 or equivalent (that's if you can get a 970 or 980 secondhand) (or whatever's next on Nvidia's board. 1150? 2050?) (you can try looking into an AMD RX 570 or 580, but Assassisin's creed origins may hover under 45fps. definitely try for secondhand or clearance if you decide to buy it, don't buy this new). also do the lower model detail thing first to see if you can alleviate some stutters if you feel that it happens. Thanks for the detailed response. But the reason for the 1080 or 1180/2080 is because I want to upgrade in the near future. I would keep the 1080 and buy the new parts. Games don’t really stutter as much but the frames are getting close to 30fps.
  12. Wassup, Im planning on building a new gaming/programming/rendering (mostly gaming) pc in the next couple of months (when I get money) with all the peripherals. This is what I have in mind so far: CPU: i7 8700k MOBO: Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI- FI AC) COOLING: NZXT Kraken X62 Rev GPU: GeForce gtr 1080 RAM: any 2x8Gb 3000 Storage: 3TB seagate 7200rpm Intel - 545s 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive CASE: NZXT h440 or S340 elite PSU: EVGA 750w gold MONITOR: Asus PG279Q KEYBOARD: corsair k95 cherry mx brown MOUSE logitech g502 proteus SPEAKERS: logitech g560 https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/JBGRgw I want it to last as long as possible playing games on atleast high setting with 60 FPS. The current one I have I built it right when the 4th gen i7 processor first came out. It has the 4770k, GeForce 770 (overclocked) and gigabyte z87x-d3h with 16gb ram. And I still play on high settings but with around 40fps. Budget is around 4-5k, I would prefer less but I don’t think it’s possible. I need advice on the motherboard since I want on that has at least 7 usb slots plus a usb c and this one seems to have it. Also if I should wait for the new intel processors and nvidia GeForce cards or get the current ones. And if I pick the h440, it will overheat since there’s limited intake area. Any advice or recommendation would be appreciated. Including why would be very helpful. Thank you
  13. What games are you looking to play and what programs are you looking to run? the 4770k might do fairly okay for another year or 3, so All range of games from rise of the tomb raider/assassins creed/Witcher 3 to games like stardew valley/minecraft. I would prefer to have high settings with 60fps though. A 4 gen old processor can do well for another 3 years?
