  1. From some replies I got on another forum page, one suggestion was to change display port version to 1.2^, which some monitor support (1.1, 1.2, 1.2^). Other suggestions are that Samsungs are a bit finicky with the type of DP cables, so I'll try and get (buy) another cable to test it with to narrow down to a screen or cable problem.
  2. Hi All! I have a Samsung c24FG70fq , 24" FG Curved gaming LED ( 1800R curvature ) , 144hz monitor that I bought in 2018, but has since been replaced twice. I've had constant issues with this product and do not recommend it to anyone. I'm currently having issues with it again, and want to ask if it's perhaps something I'm doing wrong, instead of the product. The current one with this error, I received last year in March and for the past few months, it's been showing these horizontal lines on startup. Initially it was only a few small lines at the bottom, and only lasted about a minute after it was turned on, and then disappeared. It's been getting steadily worse, now the lines reach across almost the entire screen, lasting a bit longer each time. I've googled around, but none of the other queries I found had this severity of an issues or it was vertical instead of horizontal lines. Has anyone ever seen this before? If so, what might cause this issue? See image for details. For further details, I'm running a second montior, DELL SE2419H 24" FHD 1920 x 1080 IPS Monitor, both off a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 ARMOR OVERCLOCKED Edition 8GB GDDR5X, from a 3 year old Corsair CP-9020051-WW VS650 650W Desktop Power Supply. Both screens' power is fed from a Mecer ME-2000-VU 2000VA/1200W Line Interactive UPS. Any info or suggestions would be really appreciated.
  3. My CPU temp levels are quite steady. I've run a hardware monitor to verify this. Around 60 degrees Celsius. I can definitely do a clean install, but I suspect that the issue will occur again, after a few weeks of use. Still worth a try
  4. Yeah, I'm really happy that AMD has picked up the pace and become a good competitor. Both to motivate Intel to lower their prices, and give us consumers more alternatives for better systems.
  5. I agree completely, I'll definitely try and sort it out I know it's hard to look at. Thank you for all the advice @syn2112
  6. Alright, I never really considered AMD. I'll compare prices. I'd prefer the most performance per price, of course. I have to preface this by saying, that the "multitasking" I do, is mainly either gaming, whilst at the same time browsing youtube or streams, nothing advanced. Nothing against AMD, I've just been a habitual intel user
  7. Okay cool! That's great advice. Thank you I'll look into it
  8. It is enabled yes. My FPS is limited in WoW to 90 FPS. I have a 144Hz monitor, so of course I'd prefer to remove this limitation in order for the game to run more smoothly. That said, I'd rather provide higher priority to the game than other processes. To make them lag rather than the game. If I don't have anything running, my CPU idles at around 15%. I assume this is the amount my background processes are using in general?
  9. @syn2112 At that point, yes. However, a couple of seconds later, the other processes would use less and then wow would take up 60%+. Either way, I'll look into upgrading to a good i5 8th gen CPU, should solve my problem. Thank you!
  10. When I have a game running, it will use as much as the CPU can give it. Regardless of the settings I have the game on. Is a i5 7500 really not capable of running WoW at reduced settings without using everything available?
  11. Yes, I've done just that. For some reason, my CPU manages to hang around 100% with barely anything running as well. I suspect it might have a minimum core utilisation or something.
  12. Thanks for the reply! Do you think that my issue will be solved by going for an 8th gen 6 core i5, or rather a i7?
  13. Hi! For the past year, ever since I've upgraded to a brand new intel i5 7500 cpu, I've been experiencing occasional, but intense mouse lag. It occurs whenever I have multiple windows, and a game open. For example, I'll randomly get a input lag spike whilst playing DotA or Pubg, if I have my internet browser open. I've researched this online, and as far as I know, this is caused by my CPU being overtaxed. However, in a different post here on this form, I've asked whether I need to upgrade my CPU or my GTX 960 2G. According to the reply, my i5 7500 cpu should still be fine to handle most operations. I use a 2 monitor setup, and frequently have multiple windows open, so this is an issue I'd like to resolve asap. Since it's not consistent, I'm not sure if my CPU is really the problem. Do I need to upgrade my CPU, or might there be a different issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
  14. Thank you for the fast reply! I will most likely go with your suggestion. I just have one more question. You said that the kaby lake should perform fine, however I've been experiencing wierd input lagg in games like Pubg, and when I run WoW, my CPU will be maxed out more often on task manager than my GPU. Am I interpreting this wrong, or might there be an issue? I was also fairly convinced about the GPU upgrade, but those issues made me wonder if it's a CPU issue.
  15. Hi! I've been deliberating for the past couple of weeks on what I need to upgrade next for the most performance for my money. Linus' latest video gave me the prompt to ask for advice here. Hopefully this is the right thread to ask this in. I do very much want to avoid being bottlenecked, but as explained in the last video, I don't really think that will be an issue, rather that I'm not sure what will give me the most performance at this time, and not bottleneck my existing parts. I made a sale purchase on the GTX 960, which is why it's such a weak one, and a dumb mistake on the locked i5 7500. I'm looking to start rectifying those mistakes. However, I can only afford a CPU & Mobo combo, or a new GPU at this time. At this time, the parts im looking at are: I predominantly use my system to play games, in a variety of games. Probably more CPU intensive games like World of Warcraft, but a fair mix of other games as well. Note that whichever part I buy next, I'll buy the other one when I can afford it next. So it's not too much of an issue if the new part will bottleneck my existing parts only slightly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Have a great day. Edit: I play on a 1K 144Hz Samsung C24FG70 Monitor. Don't know if that will make a difference.
