Linux is Linux. there is really no such thing as a gaming distro Some distros, like OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, Fedora, *buntu, Mageia & Arch have newer mesa drivers if you have an AMD GPU

jpenguin got a reaction from CodeNova in macOS vs linux
MACOS 10.5+ is certified Unix compliant, all versions of OSX technically are but apple didn't pay the fee to put the branding on OSX <10.5.
Linux is a clone of minux, which is a Unix like kernel.

jpenguin got a reaction from wasab in elementaryOS Challenge! What do you all think?
I use fedora on my computer. It has been awhile since I tried elemtary, but it's Pantheon DE was pretty limited. It had terminal so you could install synaptic and such, but KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE & LXDE are much more capable DEs

jpenguin got a reaction from Exaco in Why people use MacOS?
Less aapplications is kinda true, but they have everything pretty well covered. some exclusive stuff that I still miss. I wouldn't go that far on gaming. Their are defendantly less games, but certainly a variety made for Mac. I use AMD on linux by choice, nvidia does make the best graphics- but AMD is perfectly fine. UI being outdated is your opinion.

jpenguin got a reaction from vorticalbox in nvidia drivers break Kubuntu....?
Proprietary GFX driver can be problematic and hard to support on Linux period. I have an old 650ti & an RX480, both use mesa drivers brilliantly

jpenguin reacted to Shoe_Eater in Need a alt OS that is not Linux, Windows or MACos
oh you say you want something that isnt one of the big 3, well i would say reactos is too similar to windows, and BSD is too similar to linux since they are both UNIX and POSIX compliant, so i would say, TempleOS.
Also for anyone who is saying things like chromeOS, android x86 and steamOS, those are all linux. Also i dont see why you cant just use some form of linux, or some other POSIX compliant OS.
