  1. Hello, So after many questions and much research, I just bought a Galaxy Tab S and I was wondering if there is any way to remove some of the non-essential apps. My RAM is at 1.87 out of 2.7, and I want to free up as much as I can. I don't really know what apps I need for the tablet to run, but all I will be doing on it is watching and streaming movies and streaming my PC games via Gamestream. Which actually brings me to another question: Can I use my Dualshock 4 controller with Moonlight Game Streaming or do I have to purchase an OTG adapter? Thank you in advance for your help.
  2. Thank you for your reply, but I do not like iOS (and this is coming from someone who uses a Mac Mini for their everyday computing). My wife has one and I don't care to use it for my needs.
  3. Hello, I am looking for a new tablet. I have exprience with a Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Surface Pro 3 and an iPad. I do not like the iPad. The Surface is great, but even the Surface 3 is still more of a mini-laptop to me. I still have to use the keyboard and pen because I always seem to find myself in the desktop environment instead in tablet mode. If I were in the market for a laptop, too, I would probably get it. I think I want to stay with an Android device. I would like at least a 10" tablet. It will be used strictly for movies (local network streaming, on device playing and Netflix/Hulu streaming), music, minimal web surfing and game streaming via Gamestream/Moonlight. I am looking at the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, but it is really expensive...especially because I would have to order it from Taiwan, as it is not released in the US yet. And if anything were to go wrong with it, the warranty process would be hell. I am also looking at the Samsung Tab s 10.5. It really looks like a nice tablet, but there are some mixed reviews out there. Lenovo also has a 10" tablet, the Tab2 A 10-70, which looks okay because of the high resolution IPS display and the price. However, I am a bit skepitcal because I do believe that most times if it is to good to be true it mostly is and you get what you pay for. To wrap it up, does anyone have any advice or suggestions for me? Or, does anyone have any experience with any of the tablets I have mentioned? My budget is around $500 USD. Thank you in advance for your help!
  4. I actually tried a Surface and a Surface Pro. I really like them, but I have to almost use the pen and the Type Cover and that really just makes it a small laptop. There are not really too many apps, but I know that will probably change soon. I found myself just going back to the desktop environment, where the on screen keyboard doesn't pop up automatically and everything is a bit too small. If I was in the market for a small laptop, I would probably get it because I do like the line. However, I think the price is a bit high to purchase as a tablet.
  5. No, it is a MediaTek or something like that...it is a quad-core 1.7 GHz I may have to try and find a Sony. I can get a Z4, but they are International Stock because they haven't been released in the US, yet. I would be paying a pretty hefty premium for that tablet. My wife has an iPad and I don't like it. I am not a fan of iPads. I don't like being locked down. I want a plug and play tablet, where I can just transfer files without have to use iTunes. I am looking at the Samsung S with the AMOLED display.
  6. Hello, I am in the market for a tablet after returning the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70. I thought it was a good tablet, but the processor, even though it was a quad-core, didn't meet my expectations. Playback at 1080p was choppy and I couldn't watch it. I didn't like the touchscreen, either. It was a little rough and not as smooth as other tablets I have tried. And Netflix was a but choppy, as well. The 1080p playback got me to thinking, though. The Lenovo has a resolution of 1920x1200 at 10.1". It has a nice IPS display. Anyway, is there really that much of a difference between 1080 and 720 at that size? I haven't tried it, but I am assuming that even at that resolution, the definition quality probably isn't going to take a bit hit. Is that correct in assuming? Another question I have is about screen size. I have always looked at 10" tablets when searching. I would move right along when I would see an 8" tablet. Now, I am wondering how much of a difference those 2" would make when watching videos and surfing. Does anyone have any advice when searching, or using, tablets smaller than 10"? The Lenovo was okay, but I am coming from a Sony Xperia Z2 tablet and I thought it was awesome. I know I cannot expect the same awesomeness from a tablet that is a couple hundred dollars less, but I thought I would try out less expensive devices. All I am going to use the tablet for is media consumption, anyway. Do you all have any suggestions for under $500? TL;DR: Is there a big quality difference between 720 and 1080 at 1920x1200 on a 10" display? How much of a difference in viewing (besides 2" lol) will an 8" tablet be, as opposed to a 10" tablet? Are there any brands that you all would recommend for around or under $500? Thank you in advance for any and all help, advice and/or suggestions.
  7. Hello, I am looking for a 60" 1080p TV that has low input lag and a quality display. I am looking at the LG models with IPS display and Sony. I am staying away from Samsung because I don't want to play the lottery. I am in the US and my budget is around $1700. If I can stay below that, it would be a bonus! Thank you in advance for your input!
  8. Thanks! I don't plan on upgrading from 1080p @ 60 quite a long time. Should I consider a 970?
  9. Hello, My question is pretty much what the title is. This kind of is a continuation of my 980 Ti question I posted last week. I have the opportunity to get a G1 980 Ti, but I don't know if it is worth it right now at my resolution and refresh rate. I don't know if I should pull the trigger or just wait until I have to run games on low settings lol. I mean, I can start to see the card's (780) "age" in Unity and GTA V, and I wonder how well it will hold up for upcoming games like Battlefront, The Division...etc. I know we can't see the future, so I am just looking for some educated opinions/advice. Thank you in advance for your responses!
  10. Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't post resolution. I game at 1080p and will be for a while. I just got a 980 Ti from a 780. I was surprised that the 980 Ti really cannot max everything at 1080p, like GTA V, Unity and Total War games (Attila is what I tried). And who says a 980 Ti is overkill for 1080p lol? I am torn on whether or not to return the 980 Ti. Anyhow, it got me wondering about VRAM.
  11. Hello, The question is exactly what the title states: How long do you guys think 3GB VRAM will be sufficient for gaming? I am just curious. I really don't know too much, but from what I have read the cards with higher VRAM are for higher resolution gaming and textures. Is that true? Thanks in advance for all responses!
  12. Hello, I currently have 8GB of 1866 MHz in my rig. I was wondering if I should maybe look into upgrading it to 16GB. I mostly use my rig for gaming. I do not really use it for work anymore. Is it worth upgrading or is 8 GB still enough for gaming? I mean, I am running games fine now, but I guess it is more of a future thing. Thanks in advance for your response!
  13. Thank you! Can you me the difference between G Sync and FreeSync? EDIT: Nevermind. FreeSync is AMD only. I have a Nvidia card.
  14. Hello, Okay, so I have a brand spanking new G1 980 ti on its way. I am currently gaming on a 23" Dell 1080p IPS monitor(s). I think that with the new GPU, I would like to match it up with a great monitor. I know there are so many choices and I have no clue. I don't really have a budget, but I would like to keep it as reasonable as possible. 1. Should I go for another 1080p, but at 120 or 144 Hz? I mean, what should I get to play whatever game I want with all of the bells and whistles, at least 60 FPS? 2. Should I jump up to a higher resolution, like 1440p? 3. Is there a certain feature that I should be looking for, like IPS, G Sync...etc? 4. What are the top brands I should be looking for? Those are all of the concerns that I can remember, but I am sure as soon as I post this I will remember others. Thank you in advance for any and all help!
  15. Hello, The title is pretty much my question. I have a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 780 GHz Edition. I can pick another one up for around $275. Would it be wise just to SLI for that price or try and sell my current 780 and put the money towards a 980 ti? Do games still struggle with SLI? I game at 1080p @ 60Hz. Before I get an influx of, "It is not worth it for 1080p @ 60Hz" comments, let me just say that I know. Even though I game at that level, I want to be able to check everything in the settings menu. I am pretty much set do one or the other. Thank you in advance for all help!
  16. Thanks! I have been looking at Sony. Will that size be good enough for my 12x12 room? Do you know about the response time or input lag?
  17. Hello, I am in the market for a new HDTV for a relatively small room, let's say 12x12. So, I am thinking between the 50"-60" range...I think. I don't need 4K, 3D or anything. Just a plain ol' 1080p TV with a great display for gaming (consoles and PC) and movies. My budget is around $1000. I may go up more, but not much. Can anyone recommend a great TV? Can anyone help me with size to viewing area? I just want to know if 50"-60" is the size range that will fit my room. Thank you in advance for all help, advice and suggestions!
  18. Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me out. Does anyone know anything about the i7 4870HQ? Like, what would be considered the desktop equivalent? Is it considered powerful for a laptop chip? I mean, I know it is an i7, but I was really just wondering if it will be able to handle everything I throw at it, like multiple Adobe CC programs, multiple browsers and browser tabs, light video editing...etc, up and running at the same time. Forgive my ignorance, but I am just trying to see if that will do the job for me. Thank you in advance for your responses!
  19. Hello, I just got a mid-2014 rMBP/16GB/512GB/750M. I am going to use it as my desktop replacement. I will, however, be taking it back and forth to the work office once or twice a week. So, I am looking for a stand that will allow me to easily take it off when I need to go into the office, but still allow for a nice, clean and spacious home desktop workstation. I will be hooking up 2 external monitors while I am at home, as well. In case it is helpful, here is what I do and plan on doing: I am a web designer/developer that dabbles in graphic design and light video editing, so I would be using most of the Adobe CC apps. Plus, I will be watching local and streaming videos. Do you guys have any experience with Twelve South BookArc Vertical Laptop Stand? I don't know if I should go for a vertical or horizontal mount (Twelve South BookArc or Rain mStand, for example). I would like to use clamshell mode, but I am afraid of overheating. Is it better to have the device open? Does closing it up cause heat not to dissipate efficiently? If I went vertical, would it help to turn it upside down, so that the vents on the back of the rMBP are facing up? Thank you in advance for any and all help!
  20. Thank you everyone for the replies! Does that mean that it just sort of bypasses the battery when it is full charged and plugged in...if that makes sense?
  21. Hello, I recently jump the Windows ship and hopped on Apple's by picking up a mid-2014 MacBook Pro, i7, 16GB, 512GB SSD, 750M 2GB dedicated GPU. I must say it is pretty sweet. I do a lot of work at home, but once or twice a week I go into the office. I like the idea of having a desktop at home to work on, but the portability of the MacBook. So, I would like to know if I can use the MacBook as a desktop, you know with a keyboard, mouse and external monitors. Here is a list of concerns/questions that I have: 1. Can I use it with the top down? If so, will it cause any overheating problems? Can I use 2 or 3 external monitors at once? Could I use Bluetooth mouse, keyboard and headphones while the lid is closed? Is there a stand or something I could/should use? Will there be any resolution issues going from Retina Display to 1080x1920? Will battery life suffer from keeping it plugged in mostly all of the time? Will there be an issue with leaving the device on pretty much all of the time, maybe using sleep instead of shutting it down? I mean, the only time I am thinking about shutting it down is when I transfer the device from home to work. or if I bring it somewhere. I think that is it. I know that I could build a more powerful desktop, but I wanted this and went with it. I would surely appreciate any advice, suggestions and/or help from anyone who has any experience or anything with this. Thank you in advance for your help!
  22. Thank you everyone for the responses! I guess I don't have to sell my MacBook Pro lol. I know that my PC is more powerful, but I guess the rMBP is good for portability and compatibility for my degree program. As far as gaming goes, I take it that the 780 will run 1080p @ 60 games for a good while then, huh?
  23. Hello, My question is pretty much what the title asks. I have a Gigabyte Windforce 780 GHz Edition 3GB GPU. I am thinking about upgrading to a 980 ti. Would it be worth it or should I wait for the next gen of GPUs? I play at 1080p @ 60 Hz and will not be moving to a higher resolution or refresh rate anytime soon. I would be selling my MacBook Pro in order to upgrade. I am in school (Video and Motion Graphics major), so another reason I was looking to upgrade is my PC will be more powerful than my MacBook Pro. I can just use an external drive or a flash drive to transfer project files from school to home. The degree program uses Macs, though. Thank you in advance for any and all responses, suggestions and help.
  24. Thank you for your replies! I am really about to pull the trigger on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152686&cm_re=msi_gs60-_-34-152-686-_-Product It looks like a decent laptop for a alright price. What do you think? I am still open for your suggestions, though. Thanks, again!
  25. Nah, I just got to see if I would like it. The dumbed down Garageband, from what I remember from back in '08 when I messed around in it last lol. What do you mean by "worse in many other areas"?
