Except we already know with RTX turned on you get MAYBE similar (or SLIGHTLY higher) FPS numbers to a 1080 Ti overclocked in the same infiltrator game.  So if you want to call that a 'kicker' or 'win' for both higher performance and graphics for $1200 go right ahead lol.
 
And even saying its 'improving' graphics is slightly disingenuous given we already have lighting tech that can recreate all these effects, it's just more expensive to do so than with RTX and these new cards.
 
Its great tech, for next next gen, but right now its only great for nvidia to fleece the sheep for their money.

No the point is not hurr they finally show something and people are complaining, the point is they were not showing anything about real world performance outside of ray tracing, and now AFTER the fact they seem to be back peddling to show us how good it is.  If they showed it in the first place I would be less suspicious.

I'll believe it once the reviewers can confirm this kind of performance. If it had this kind of performance wouldn't they have said at least anything about it in the presentation? All we got to see was 'gigarays/s' which doesn't tell us anything about non-rtx performance.
We also don't know what the Y-axis means so it could be anything.

Lastly there is only ONE reason why nvidia wasnt boasting real FPS numbers over current gen, and instead was specifically talking about ray tracing applications, is because its about the same or only slightly better than current gen.  There is NO REASON why they wouldn't boast about it like they did with pascal unless it wasn't worth boasting.  They spent that whole first hour convincing you why you needed this card for ray tracing to justify the price to you.

This has nothing to do with 'poor' people being able or not to buy them, and everything to do with nvidia raking us consumers over the coals just because they can.  I am almost willing to bet money most of these people defending this have already pre-ordered these cards because they have been waiting for god knows how long for this new holy card to come out and fell for the hype train.

Look the difference here is that nvidia is OBVIOUSLY artificially jacking the prices up sky high MAKING it cost prohibitive for people who dont make as much.  PC gaming was never the champion of elitism until smug acting dicks like you and Brooksie359 entered it.
 
No one is saying anyone is entitled to PC gaming, much less the latest tech for it.  The general idea here is why the hell are you supporting a multi billion dollar greedy as shit company?

Obviously nvidia is entitled to making a profit for delivering breakthrough and best performing technologies in their class.  And the problem is only they know what it cost them to make this tech to bring to market.  So there is no way we can know and make an estimate on what is a fair price.
 
What really pisses me off is seeing potentially that these new cards only perform about 10-30% better than current gen then pricing them as they are.  Which even that would be forgivable until you add in the fact next gen is likely only a year away and they knew this already and are 'making' people pay these sorts of prices to be an early adopter.  I mean really I guess I should just sit back and laugh at all the people who pre-ordered only to find out they've been shafted hard because in the end its up the the consumer to be informed and intelligent enough to see a sham.  Or in the end the joke will be on me for NOT preordering.

Well that PC enthusiast crowd tends to get lost in the weeds and cant see the forest for the trees.  Generally when stuff like this pops up its always at max about 5-10FPS difference which is nothing.  Its never hey my game is running like crap am I bottlenecked?  Its hey I noticed my GPU isnt running at 99% and even though I am getting 30000 FPS am I bottlenecked?

When I want accurate and detailed I watch GN, when I want entertainment I watch LTT.  Its weird and kinda not good but this falls under meh for me.
