  1. The monitor in question is an HP LP3065 and it only accepts DVI input. I'm upgrading my GPU and the new one does not have a DVI port so I will not be able to use this display unless I get a converter for it. However, I'm skeptical of whether a converter will maintain the full QHD resolution of the monitor which is otherwise only achievable on a dual link DVI cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I have an Asus B350 Prime Plus that has a DVI-D port on the back and I was wondering that port can be used as a pass through to the main GPU since my 1600 doesn't have an iGPU. I'm getting a new GPU but it does not have a DVI port, which is the only input one of my monitors can accept. Therefore, does the DVI port work as a pass through or is it only for the ryzen chips that DO feature an iGPU?
  3. Well that's shitty, good warranty service is an important factor for me so I guess that rules out the XFX completely. Thank you for your advice!
  4. I have both of these cards available to me at roughly the same price but I'm not quite sure which of these is better as both variants lack any real reviews. Ignoring all other variants, which one should I go with? Any advice would be really appreciated. 5. Not too concerned with the cooling, unless it's borderline unusable I'm fine with it. I'm mainly just worried about the driver issues but it seems those have been addressed, thank you everyone for the advice.
  6. I'd been using a GTX 1070 for roughly a year and a half which I've sold recently. The experience with Nvidia was flawless in terms of drivers and software. However, I cannot say the same for the RX 580 that I had before the 1070, which suffered from the occasional BSOD, conflicts with MSi Afterburner and Radeon software, and just driver issues in general. Nevertheless, I am still seriously considering the RX 5700 over the RTX 2060 due to the superior price for performance, yet I'm still worried if the issues I had with my 580 will persist with this as well. Would you recommend I get the 2060 and be safe or have these issues since been resolved making the 5700 a better option? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. my usage is primarily for gaming, productivity is very much secondary for me.
  7. It's certainly an option but that would restrict me to about ~30 GB free in one partition and 110 GB in the other; not ideal. Think I'll just install windows from scratch, thanks for your input!
  8. The source is a 120 GB WD SSD and the destination is a 240 GB Kingston SSD. Upon cloning the source to the destination, it creates an identical copy of the source disk and just leaves about 111 GB unallocated. Is there a way to have it cloned onto a partition that is 240 GB and has the identical contents of my current drive?
  9. Didn't work... I used Macrium to clone my old drive, its an identical copy of it; 111 GB total space, 80 GB used.
  10. Does any one know of a way to clone the contents of my old SSD (120GB) to my new one (240GB) without formatting the new drive to be 120GB as well? I haven't been able to find much on the internet regarding this exactly but if someone does have a link to a helpful thread or video that too would be greatly appreciated!
  11. The issue, I think, has something to do with the power delivery. After using it for hours (with no problems whatsoever) when he tries switches it off and then tries to power it on again, it doesn't work. The light on the motherboard also switches off indicating that there's no power going to it. The only fix he's found (so far) is unplugging and re-plugging the power cable back into the power supply a couple of times. Can anyone suggest possible fixes or troubleshooting suggestions? Specs: i7-4790k EVGA 1080 FTW Asus H-97 Plus Cooler Master V650 2 x 8 GB DDR3 RAM
  12. I'm considering getting a high refresh panel for my setup, but a G-Sync model is completely out of question for my budget (and its availability where I live) so I'm debating whether I should get a non G-Sync one anyway or go for a 1440p 60hz instead. Any input would be appreciated!
  13. Any particular reason as to why the Fury X is generally so frowned upon?
  14. Was considering that, but the market is quite messed up where I live and a used 1070 (without warranty) is roughly the same price as a 980ti so I thought I would go for the more recent option.
  15. Option A: AMD Radeon R9 Fury X Hybrid (used, $200 USD no warranty) Option B: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming X (used, $340 USD 6 months warranty) Ignoring all other factors and considering only the price to performance (and of course, warranty), which would you think is the better/safer buy for 1080p high refresh rate gaming? P.S. Also open to other suggestions within $350, used or new, for the abovementioned use scenario.
  16. The CPU is only going to remain temporarily, I just wanted to know how much of bottleneck there would be compared to a normal 1070 while I plan my upgrade.
  17. How much would you think a 1070 would bottleneck with an i5-3570 @3.4ghz compared to a balanced setup? Considering either an entire platform upgrade to an i5-6600k, but 1070 prices are relatively low where I live right now so that's tempting as well. All input would be greatly appreciated!
  18. The switch is soldered on to the PCB if I'm not wrong so removing it from there would be the main issue, but this is a start, thank you.
  19. How would that clear up the gunk though? It's inside the switch somewhere (not visible) and seems to just move to one side or the other when air is blown inside.
  20. If I remove the keycap and just blow air on it, the switch clears up for a few minutes but the problem reoccurs; switch is hard to press, travels slowly and resets slowly as well. It's a Cherry MX Red switch (backspace key) on a SteelSeries 6GV2 board. Does anyone know any trick to get the gunk out of the switch without disassembling? If not, a helpful beginner's guide to doing so would be highly appreciated!
  21. Appreciate the help, I'll test some games on an SSD to confirm.
