Long time follower of LTT but new community member. Figured I'd share a little project that might be cool to expand on or demonstrate.

Something that I got to working on was inspired by Linus's rack mounted personal rig. My desktop is pretty loud and I hate wire clutter so I really wanted to tuck my PC away where I could still enjoy the benefit of a power PC but without some of the clutter and noise. Using moonlight, along with a local network switch, and some dummy plugs for the monitors, I was able to get my gaming rig completely headless with just my ethernet and power chord. On the receiving end I had two monitors, logitech g603/613 wireless mouse and keyboard, and my ethernet into a small thunderbolt 3 dock on a macbook pro (I know its a sin but I use it for software development). Used really short cables so I couldn't see anything but the cable going from the macbook to the dock. Thanks to the network switch, latency was under 2ms and was able to stream at 60fps with no compresson artifacts even when my roommate was maxing out our local bandwidth. I think a cool video, albeit possibly not a tech quickie, would be showing the advantages of using a local network for in home "streaming" for those of us with wire OCD or anyone with a jet engine sounding pc that would rather tuck it away in another room. Also doubles for a nice NAS since you have the 10 gigabit connection (100 gigabit if you're feeling frisky).

Sorry if someone else has posted a similar project, been very excited about it and couldn't find much on in home streaming between the forum and the channel. Closest I could find was a video from 2014 talking about in home latency.

How about a tech quickie on the difference between RGB and Addressable RGB and how the 2 systems are not compatible with each other.

I would love to see a video explaining PCI bifurcation. It's actually being used more and more recently since the introduction of affordable consumer M.2 raid cards like the Asus Hyper m.2 and the Asrock Ultra M.2. I've found plenty of posts online with people looking for information on it, but little to no information on either how to enable it. Most people have to go to extreme modding forums to find any decent documentation on it.

Plus, I'm in the SFF scene and you should see some of the amazingly small SLI ITX builds some people have made.

For those wondering what it is, it's the technology used to split CPU lanes in order to address multiple devices over one connection. PCI bifurcation can allow a single x16 slot to have 4 individually addressable x4 lane devices. or 2 x8 or 1 x8 and 2 x4 etc etc. And, like in my example above, you could split a single x16 PCI 3.0 port into to x8 PCI connections that would be able to support full GPUs or other such devices.

The old thread in the vBulletin forum got lost in the migration (don't worry I still have access to it and I'll still look at it) so I'm creating a new one.

    Guidelines
       1. Video should be possible to watch in 1-2 minutes.  2. No elaborate props. If we can't shoot it in the white box with a couple of demonstrative pieces, it's probably not feasible.  3. Keep it simple! The idea here is to simplify computer concepts to the point where your mom can understand it. Not looking for "how to peel the ramspreaders off your memory"    I will read these suggestions, but I may not reply to this thread very often. That doesn't mean I'm not paying attention, it just means I'm busy creating lots of new video content     If you haven't heard of Tech Quickie, it's another YouTube channel we run for paid content and the ever-popular "Fast As Possible" series.   Techquickie's channel - YouTube   http://youtube.com/techquickie   Learn about the latest cool technology in only a couple minutes! Psh, with enough Netflix and a 360 that actually plays games I'm set for as long as needed. Though I'm pissed I won't get to watch my fails videos before bed.

Because if integrated graphic present on the system with Window 10(1709 or over) it will detect it as Power-Saving GPU when you plug in the monitor into that iGPU.

Give you a heads up, Ghost Recon is VERY resource intensive, I get ~55 with dips at 1080p playing on a gtx 1080 (ultra settings, small OC). For 1440p 75hrz, a 1070ti or a 1080 would be best, imo. Also, prices SHOULD go down as the rtx cards sell, but not sure about that. Miners are selling them for cheap though, at least they used to.

Looks great to me, only thing is, I got a 144hrz 1080p panel, and paired it with an i7 8700k and a gtx 1080, on ultra I don't get the level of performance I wanted, FC5 I think about 110 fps, forza hor 3 about the same. That said, if you turn down a few settings and don't play games that are hardware busters like those, (e-sports) you will be fine

Be aware that most "gaming" laptops (including this one) weigh like a brick and they are hardly ideal if you want to carry them to school every day. I recommend sticking to a 13" and staying below 1.5Kg. Also this HP has outdated hardware, 8th gen quad cores are cheaper, almost as fast and they draw a lot less power.

A while ago I was looking for a laptop, the best bang for your buck(or euro ) that I could find was the acer preditor helios 300. Its not all sunshine and rainbows as the laptop does not have the best screen available in that price rang, but with a gtx 1060 6GB, you would be set for most games and picture editing(though I think that might be more relient on the processor) Speaking of which it "only" has a i7 7700HQ, which will work great for gaming or anything else (in fact that is a VERY good CPU compared to a lot of laptops). https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-7700HQ-1060-6GB-G3-571-77QK/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1533155127&sr=1-3&keywords=acer+predator+helios+300
