SidM got a reaction from TheBean in Please review this budget build for Witcher 3
Please my man, change the motherboard, it doesn’t support overclocking bcuz of a320 chipset limitations and cheaping out in a mobo is not something you should do

Ya that’s a good motherboard, keep in mind a v important thing tho, the bios is designed to work for 2nd gen and you will need to update the bios by using a 2nd gen cpu(which you will have to borrow from somewhere) only then will you be able to use ur 3rd gen cpu. This is bcuz b450 was originally released from Ryzen 2nd gen

Might be hairworks, did you have that enabled? They don't mention CPU and it's close to 100% load in some areas, so that might also be a factor.
The video is also from 2018, so it's quite possible that newer drivers improved performance. In any case the 2070S should be an upgrade over the 1080.

SidM reacted to Jurrunio in Extra GPU for something?
Another desktop + capture card using x264 encoding is the best for quality. Also older Nvidia card's NVENC is pretty terrible, 1440p 21:9 will definitely drag it to the floor.

SidM reacted to glenalz81 in What is the point of a larger GPU heatsink?... GPU struggles
Larger heatsink = better cooling = better boost = higher sustained clockspeed.

SidM got a reaction from billabeasta in Help with laptop question, adding Optane or SSD swap?
Im sorry bruh, but ur laptop doesnt have that m.2 slot to have a optane ssd, my best recommendation would be to get an ssd, crucial is the best brand as far as price to performance ratios go.

SidM reacted to Bruno_A in 1660ti with ryzen 3 2200g?
I would spend the extra and buy a Ryzen 5 1600 with dual-channel memory. Dual-channel memory is a must, in my opinion.

SidM reacted to DailyProcrastinator in ASUS ROG PG279Q 27" Or ROG Strix XG32VQ or alienware AW3418DW for gaming?
Budget considered, I would go 1440p 144Hz+ IPS. The Asus PG279Q ticks all those boxes.

EDIT: a bit of a budget stretch but you could go 1440p Ultrawide.

SidM reacted to Jurrunio in Question about static electricity and motherboard
unless you're a superhero in Marvel, you don't need any static protections. Just don't go scrub yourself with a balloon or sweater while you're at it.

So could I just get a second stick of ram, the exact same model number and everything making it dual channel?

SidM reacted to Firewrath9 in Help with laptop question, adding Optane or SSD swap?
I'd just get a 2.5" 1TB SSD (they are 100-120$), if you have a 1TB HDD, then you can use a SATA to USB adapter so you can use the HDD as external storage.

SidM got a reaction from Hadi7200 in First Pc Build Questions
No it wont bottleneck, if you plan to do some heavy overclocking a 650w psu would be better. As far as battlefield goes, yes you should have 60 fps with mid settings. As far as the dual monitor setup, dont run like sooooooper demanding workloads, otherwise you should be pretty safe. As far as ur second monitor, you could try a 1440p monitor but games at that resolution like BF1 would go to the lower 40s. I would recommend a 1080p monitor dual setup instead.
Another option is buying a 1440p monitor but running your games at 1080p so that you could watch youtube videos and do other stuff in in 1440p

SidM reacted to porina in Is overclocking to turbo speed overclocking?
If you run all cores at the all core turbo speed (PL2), I'd say that is not overclocking. If you run all cores at the single core turbo speed, that is.

SidM reacted to LukeSavenije in Need very quick help for ram and mobo compatibility
or just straight up getting a z370/z390 board to take full use of the chip
say that to wallmart
-
SidM got a reaction from LukeSavenije in Need very quick help for ram and mobo compatibility
nno wrong mobo cpu combination, you need a z370 motherboard not a h310 motherboard. Yes there will be compatibility problem between cpu and mobo(no overclocking)
-
SidM reacted to LukeSavenije in Need very quick help for ram and mobo compatibility
any ram from a reliable company will do. doesn't matter much if it's corsiar, gskill, samsung or any other stick. it's normally the same die in the end
it doesn't have compatabilityproblems, you just should use a unlocked chip in a unlocked mobo

SidM reacted to Airdragonz in Does core/thread count matter (EDITING)
Multiple cores do make a difference in editing larger, higher res videos, although processor speed is more important. At 1080p, a processor's speed is almost always more important than cores. For rendering and exporting, more cores will almost always be more important than processor speed.
