UPDATE 4 (THE ANSWER/SOLVED): - Tried a PS/2 IBM keyboard with an USB adapter and it worked I was able to erase the password. So turns out the bane of the existence of this motherboard was that it needed a PS/2 keyboard (even though it only has USB ports). SIGH! INTEL! BLEEP YOU! UPDATE 3: My secondhand GTX460 was delivered today as well, sadly I still need to get UPDATE 2 fixed (no OS and BIOS is locked where no keyboards are working to enter password). The GTX460 has also brought more problems ;-(, knew it was PCI-e 2.0 x 16 and checked that the DQ35JO motherboard supported this and it does, except forgot to look at the 6 pin connectors it needs two and I only have one (fix below) Also my PSU is rated as 480W and 530W peak, all PSU calculators online range from 423W to 474W and Nvidia also recommended a 450W, so I am hoping this PSU can do its thing with the GTX460. My next steps: - To try another keyboard - To buy a sata cable and try and just boot the pc via a dvd drive (I still have the original disk for vista 32bit that the pc was running). I read somewhere that some older motherboards prefer optical boots, and hoping that this could circumvent the whole "Enter a password" for the bios if another keyboard does not work. - For GTX460, I have ordered 2 x Molex 4 pin to 1 6+2 pin PCI-e cables (people online said it shouldn't be a problem as most graphics cards has 2 x Molex 4 pin to 6/6+2 PCI-e cables). SIDE NOTES: People online discouraged 1 x Molex 4 pin to 6/6+2 PCI-E cables as they would not be able to draw enough power.

UPDATE 2: I tried installing windows via usb and it just wouldn't take (windows vista 32 bit which was corrupted) and windows 10 32bit and 64bit (CPU is 64 bit). Then tied Ubuntu 18.04 and 16.04, the latest version did not load at all with errors that things were missing from the bootable usb. 18.04-I connected an ethernet cable and said that it should download the updates, it took over 4 hours and nothing was happening. Tried 16.04 it installed without ethernet and worked on the usb stick, I realised that the install somehow turned the hard drive into an external hard drive. So checked for assistance and tried loads of things such as installing ubuntu alongside ubuntu, which keep partitioning the hard drive into smaller and smaller pieces. Just gave up and deleted everything. I thought maybe its a uefi motherboard issue. I ended up seeing something that the intel motherboard needed security enabled for uefi boot. IT DOES NOT, this bricked the system as a whole. Every time I turn on the pc, it asks for the password BUT none of my keyboards work again, so I cannot enter the password. I have tried flashing the bios, changing the jumper pins and removing the CMOS battery and somehow it still remembers to ask for the password. Saw a repair school via Youtube with the same board DQ35JO, turns out you need to set the jumper from 1-2 pins to 2-3 pins on the motherboard and start it up. Then select "Clear passwords" and hit enter and save. Sadly, unlike the Youtuber my keyboards still do not work. I have checked intels manual and it also confirms the Youtuber's methodology (video is in Bangla but screen is in english and you can get the just of it all). I just wanted to play old steam and GOG games like Dungeon Keeper 2, Red Alert 3 and Virtual games. This whole pc is giving me nightmares.

UPDATE: I put the jumper back to normal and left the Recovery USB in the PC, with HDD still disconnected. It booted to the BIOS, and I was able to use my Keyboard automatically and then I enabled USB Configuration under the Advanced System Setup Tab. However, now on Windows Error Recovery, the Keyboard does not work (but as stated it works for BIOS). So I cannot select any other option from Windows Error Recovery, only the "Start Windows Normally" and I get stuck in a loop.

Hello to whomever is out there, I call upon the elements of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Heart and The Force to please kindly assist me. I recently acquired my aunt's old pc and thought 'Oh, I could use this for old steam games'. I have checked everywhere and I cannot see a fix hence I have made my first forum post ever. This Linus thread (linked below) was most helpful however it did not fix my issue as the person in the thread used a Xeon in a motherboard that did not support it. I have never done anything as detailed as this so please be patient and explain more than you usually would. Essentially, two major issues: 1) The Hard drive is stuck on Windows Error Recovery (the issue is that the Keyboards I have tried do not register at all, hence it is continuously stuck in a "Start Windows Normally" loop where it boots up to the load screen and restarts and continues). 2) Keyboards are not being accepted for bios/post so I cannot 'fix' the hard drive by choosing another Windows Error Recovery Option. PC: CPU: Q9300 Core 2 Quad 2.5Ghz (LGA775 Socket / Yorkfield) GPU: None yet, was a 500 series NVIDIA (She took it back! The best piece! So found a cheap GTX460 online which hasn't arrived yet-not in case). Motherboard does have a VGA connector. RAM: 2 x 2Gb DDR2 800Mhz Motherboard: Intel DQ35JO https://ark.intel.com/products/50382/Intel-Desktop-Board-DQ35JO Please note this PC only has USB Ports no old keyboard port. OS: Windows 7 (SP X? I cannot get it past the logo). What I have done so far: 1) Disconnected the HDD and moved the Jumper thing on the motherboard. 2) Did the Recovery BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® Desktop Boards with correct version via USB https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19638/BIOS-Update-JOQ3510J-86A-?product=50382 The BIOS recovery worked/said was done and I replaced the Jumper thing 3) My USB keyboards still do not work at all, I cannot get into the BIOS to see if USB keyboards are enabled. I have tried every port on the back and the front (turning off and on after each try) and NADA. So now I'm here... Side errors: 1) The firmware has detetected that a CMOS battery failure occurred 2) The firmware has detetected that a CMOS Checksum Error occurred 3) The firmware has detetected that the system date/time has not been set I am also open to other options such as using an enclosure for the HDD to fix windows (can this be done?), or something else...
