Thank you guys this was very helpful. Never realized I was so ignorant

@tank234 I'm not exactly sure what that means (I'm pretty new to this stuff). From my understanding a hard drive partition just separates a hard disc drive into separate storage devices in software. The only storage devices I have in my PC are SSDs.

I recently bought a 1tb m.2 ssd to replace by cheap 200ish GB SATA SSD. I was planning to clone windows onto the new drive but the new SSD does not appear in the file manager. The m.2 port does share a lane with one of the SATA ports but the SATA port is not in use. What can I do to fix this? Do I need to do something in the BIOS?

What is the best way to transfer windows to new SSD

my old SSD is a SATA SSD. I know they are crappy but I cheaped out on it so I could get better graphics card -
I am about to run out of storage for my PC so I ordered a new m.2 SSD. I want to transfer windows to my new SSD and give my brother the old one because he uses his PC much less. I Know there are lots of ways to transfer windows to a new drive but what is the safest and most reliable option.

My XPS 15 has randomly stopped working and I have no idea what the problem is. When I boot the laptop the fans do not start, Dell logo does not appear, and I can not open the bios. It is completely charged and the keyboard lights turn on so it is receiving power. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

My brother is a freshman in college and produces music for a hobby. I built him a really nice desktop for his music production. He needs a new laptop for schoolwork on the go and he wants to get a macbook. The only macbook for 999 has a 7th gen processor and 4 year old graphics. I tried to talk him into the XPS 15 base model but he wants the macbook. His reasoning is that most DJ-ing software is desigened to work better on a mac. Is there any truth to this? What should I recommend my parents buy him? I considered getting a macbook pro 13 inch base model that is only 300 dollars more and I can upgrade the storage if he needs it. BTW the serato system requirements are really basic at 4 gigs of ram 1.07ghz processor and 1 gigabyte of Vram

never mind I just overclocked my gpu for the first time and increased my core clock 990 mhz! Am I doing something wrong, how is this possible?
-
@Tz000 I do have a 144hz monitor and I get really inconsistent frames from 60-144 usually closer to 60. I want to upgrade because any time I get in a fight when you would want more frames my frames drop down to 60. should I just get a better chair or something like that? Im thinking about getting a rx 580 or 590 and then reselling my 570

I currently have a rx570, ryzen 5 1600x, and 450 watt psu. My grandmother feels obligated to get me a birthday gift and I want to run 1080p 144 hz low settings in games like fortnight and apex. What graphics card should I ask for? She has not given me a price range so I want to keep it relatively cheap.
-
@Slottr I realize that but i'm asking if there is a specific distance at which I can sit and not be bothered by the low resolution

I'm looking to buy a 27in 1080p monitor. How close do I need to be to my monitor to see pixels?
-
I have updated since it started if that changes anything but if I have to reinstall IOS and lose all my stuff I might as well just upgrade anyway.

two days ago my I phone 7 lightning port (the headphone jack part) stopped working and the day after that the wifi started acting weird. I can't open youtube, google, or netflix but prime video, duck duck go, reddit, and imessage work fine. on duck duck go I can do a wifi speed test and im getting 30mb download and 15mb upload. does anyone know how I can fix this or should I just upgrade to the xs because I think this just might be planned obsolescence. I dont know if this should be on this fourum page or the phone one so I posted it in both

I am looking to cut cable and trying to build an HTPC to replace it. I plan on using it to stream video and occasionally 4k content and I want it to be as cheap as possible while still doing the job for a long time. I also want it to be small, no RGB, and not stick out. Also if you know of a good keyboard mouse combo that you can use on the couch please tell me. This is the build I plan right now please give suggestions. I am building a PC for my brother to use with FL studio/Ableton Live and light video editing. I know I posted on this build already but I have upgraded It and now want to see If anyone can cut the cost on some parts. The priority is music software (FL studio/Abelton Live) and the video editing will be light and 1080P. 16GB of ram is needed and a large core count processor. graphics card is not a huge concern because only light video editing will be done. Here is what I am looking at PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4MDyq4 Price breakdown by merchant: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4MDyq4/by_merchant/ CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($149.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock - AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($59.89 @ OutletPC) Memory: Team - T-Force Delta RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($149.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Team - L3 EVO 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($44.49 @ Amazon) Video Card: Zotac - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB Mini Video Card ($169.99 @ B&H) Case: Thermaltake - Core G21 Tempered Glass Edition ATX Mid Tower Case ($29.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Corsair - CXM (2015) 450W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($49.88 @ OutletPC) Other: Wigbow 120mm fantastic led Cooling Case Fan with 5050 SMD 2pcs 18 leds 30cm LED Strip Light for PC Computer 2 pack(black) ($12.99 @ Amazon) Total: $667.21 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-08-03 19:06 EDT-0400 If you think It is already fine please say that

but I think I am going to go for the HA220Q because it is IPS and I don't need an insane response time because the games I will play the FPS barely matters
