  1. I was actually just looking at a caddy lol. Thanks for the input. Yea I will probably just get a Sata ssd since they are cheaper and move the hdd to the dvd drive with a caddy if my laptop is compatible. If I’m not mistaken I just need to know the size of the dvd drive. That way I could use the optane to speed up the hdd still. I think you can use it on a secondary drive now. Then I can get rid of the optane down the line if needed.
  2. I recently got a new hp laptop from walmart and since it was a gift I didn’t pick it out. It has 16gb of optane memory in the m.2 slot which is nvme compatible. It also came with a 1tb hdd. The processor is an i7-8550u. I want to upgrade to a ssd of some kind but im unsure of whether I should drop the hdd or the optane. I’m also going to be upgrading the ram from 4gb to 16. I don’t want to spend too much on the laptop since it was just over 600 when purchased. I know the optane doesn’t speed up a Sata ssd much but it does make a small difference. I could also just have a slow 1tb hdd and a ssd in the m.2 slot for extra space and maybe replace the hdd to ssd later if needed. What do do you guys think? just some extra info so you guys know my plans with this laptop till I have the cash to build my desktop: im a music producer that Dj’s and makes videos/streams and does graphic design for my brand. Im also going to school as a software engineer
