We have seen those USB killers, any USB peripheral can have that installed in it without the end user knowing it.. So realistically: yes. And as for software issues, bad drivers or just malware implanted in the usb peripheral can screw up your installation of your OS.

But in practice, this stuff really does not happen. If a USB peripheral has some power issue, it's usually a self contained issue too (as in, doesn't spread to the PC).

Does it have 19 pins? (10x2, with one missing at the corner)
if so, then yeah, it's an internal USB 3.0 connector.

look on your motherboard manual to see where that is on your motherboard.

ok, thank you! Now, here is where it's coming from: (video has a timing pointer)

Linus noticed that i7-6920HQ throttles down to 3.1GHz (same working frequency as i7-6700HQ)

yes the virtualization software llinux uses in his videos is not the same as running a vmware with a host os
he basically natively runs the stuff on the hardware not really a virtualization, more like clustering

So, if raid controller dies - all data is gone? OMG

I thought that using RAID 10 makes my data completelly secure and it turns out that even in this case there is a breaking point - the controller itself. O_O

    So disapointed...

Nothing in your PC that does the actual computing has any moving parts, and any of that stuff can fail for many different reasons.

Yea you put to much voltage on anything it kills it, too much heat kills as well, and then there are a plethora of other things.

if im not mistaken the idea behind the rendering machine is to ahve it output multiple files all day through, the ram usage we saw was from only a single user, imagine how it looks like when 3 or more people are working on projects at the same time.

I get it. So, two quad-channel RAM kits in (1,3,5,7) and (2,4,6,8) DIMM slots are going to work exactly the way that 8 sticks kit would? Are you sure?

If you're going to a recent SSD, just make sure that AHCI is enabled and make sure that TRIM is supported if the drive asks for it. These days you really don't need to do more than that. You should be fine leaving everything to be written on the SSD, as long as you have space on there and you always leave at least 10-15% spare free for the best performance.
