Intel NAND would only be found on an Intel drive, with an intel/micron controller.

Your drive is counterfeit, it doesn't work because it's a scam.

dnyank1 reacted to Chase Douglas in An Update Regarding LTX 2022
Due to what we've observed with other events over the course of the past year, we've made the tough decision to delay LTX until 2023.

This wasn't an easy decision, but with COVID-19 still affecting events worldwide, this is what we felt we needed to do. Our goal with LTX is to increase interactivity each year as we grow, and we feel that this isn't yet possible for us to do in a safe manner.

We want LTX to return, it's just a matter of when. We've been working on a lot of ideas and partnerships behind the scenes, and are looking forward to sharing those when the time is right.
Sorry for the bad news, we can't wait to see you all in person again.

I saw the new Noctua 3070 and thought what a waste, why not put that configuration on a hot/loud card.... so I did. I'm new to 3D printing and modeling so it's not perfect but it's what I can do. So dam quiet now, I hated the 3 fans. Cooling was never an issue but it helped with that too. It's an EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra. I need to run some tests for accurate numbers but right off the bat, cooler and SO QUIET. It's chunky but so is the official Noctua version. 120mm fans are thick. Btw fans are white, camera pick them up as purple. Cheapo fans.

Oh god no, do NOT buy that much stuff.

    Ebay:  "HP i5 6500"

You can buy refurbished business PCs for a little over 100 bucks.  Probably with an SSD included.

a 6th gen i5 6500 is plenty for browsing the web.  A small-ish SSD for windows, and maybe a second drive for big files (may be unnecessary, too.)  They're not made for gamers due to normally being 'low profile' so you can't add video cards.

    Adding to @dnyank1suggestion...
Knowing the make and model of the motherboard (being used with the Ryzen 3 2300x) would be helpful too.

Depending on the age of the motherboard, or the quality of it...the motherboard BIOS (e.g. firmware) may need to be updated to support a Ryzen 3000-series Processor.
If it is a lower-tier board, may also consider upgrading the board...which would be anywhere from $80 ~ $130 for a decent one.

Knowing the graphics card, and potentially the RAM (amount, and the speed/frequency) currently in the system would be useful, too.

With all the said and done, if all is needed is a Processor upgrade (and potentially motherboard), it would be WELL within your $500 budget.
$500 could also include a mid-tier graphics card, too.

    Hey Logan's Mom!

    Welcome to the forum.

In order to best suggest upgrades for your son's computer, it would be helpful to know the rest of the specs! Namely RAM, storage (type and capacity), and graphics card.

I agree with eeee that your budget is likely rich enough to support buying new (as opposed to used) parts, but don't agree that it's unlikely your son is running a minecraft server, it's entirely possible he's hosting for his friends on his computer. I am in agreement that dropping in something like the R5 3600 would be a great upgrade for this machine - which would cost around $200. It would give him 2 more cores, each of which are faster - and a whopping 3 times the "threads", which critical for multitasking (ie - playing a game while also hosting the game's server in the background)

What? No? Error? A MacBook is by far the worst thing you could recommend, even worse than that HP monstrosity.

Both of those are riddled with problems ranging from power limits to heat issues to shit internal quality to crap QA. Avoid them.

You're asking a lot from a low end laptop. You either have to get a gaming laptop such as the Acer Nitro 5 with a Ryzen 5 4600H or a business laptop with good battery life. You can't afford both.

They do other types. I just could not be bothered that second to check all of them. Did eventually find what look to be exact "replicas" of the Kickstarter. I wonder how a Chinese company managed to invent timetravel and take that Kickstarter tech back to our time.  As Justpoet posted.

searching LiPo USB AA batteries brings up plenty of results with the exact same physical specs and dimensions as this fake kickstarter. By defending them as if they're legitimately designing something and not just rebadging chinese garbage does the forum a disservice.

"NiMH batteries don't need overcharge, and over discharge protection circuits, the USB ports also cost money, as well as the LEDs." - so what if the end result is no better than the NIMH battery?

The way YouTube Premium (YouTube Red previously) dealt with this is split up the money amongst watch time.
Say you watch one channel 75% of the time and another 25%, these channels would get 75% and 25% of the YouTube premium cost (after fees and such) respectively.

This is probably not a super fair way to work with it though.. but that's the whole 2014 - present algorithm talk all over again (how 2 minutes of high effort content is beaten by a 20 minute 'easy to make' gaming video).

But I don't think it's a good idea to start comparing to YouTube, it not being a very profitable service for Google + YouTube premium not adding much revenue to YouTubers.
