  1. been told that aerocool was not that good before, wanted to make sure, might stick with the gxs as it is available and easier to get, otherwise i would get one shipped to me which may have a higher cost and risk there was one cooler master v1000 gold , but it is well over my budget Thnx
  2. Hey guys, i am getting parts for my new rig, and am at the part where i need to choose a psu. i got a intel i5 8400 (8500,8600\k out of stock, i plan to upgrade maybe next year to a 9thgen i7 or i9, i don`t plan on overclocking) I got a msi tomahawk mag z390-(got it for features and looks over the non z boards, not planing overclocking, couldnt find a good looking non z board and some had less usb ports) I plan on getting 16 gb or 32 gb ram , depending on prices if they fall down more, if they do why not get 32 while they are cheaper right? (i know they maybe a bit useless) i plan also on getting a rtx 2070 well wattage wise i know i should be fine with a 650w psu but i don`t know what brands are good, models, etc etc... and all i can find in my country are mostly aerocool, i dont know anything about them, and some few other brands like cougar ( only 1 model too lol..) so these are my picks https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/psu/kcas/kcas-750gm https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/psu/kcas/kcas-850gm or http://cougargaming.com/products/psus/gxs/ according to the tier list, the cougar GX-S is a tier B , but i would like to know if the aerool is better (or any good?) Also note: power can be sometimes unstable a bit, the past 12 years i got 2 psu`s dead , even tho they are hooked to a ups Thanks in advance
  3. Hmm i see I might try that too if it still interfers with the ram(ram is not here yet) , i can put the fan at the bottom side so it pushes air upwards Thnx
  4. Hey guys i got the msi frozr L for my cpu , i know if the fan has an issue with ram spacing i can move it away a bit, but would it make a huge difference if i put it on the other side of the fins and make it so it pulls air through them instead of pushing? also my board has 4 ram slot and i only plan on using 2 , could i just put them in the next dual channel config instead of the 1st one(would that too make a difference?? (a bit off topic i know sorry) thanks
  5. gonna have to wait a couple month either way i already got the motherboard, was supposed to get the cpu at the begging of December , i5 went out of stock mid november ( in my country atleast??, shipping is not an option , a bit more expensive) was thinking of getting the 8th 4 core i3 for a while then upgrade, but it won`t be much of an upgrade vs the 3rd gen 4 core i5 or trade the motherboard for something AMD
  6. The thing is my current pc is now about 8 years old, and it is time for a upgrade , currently running a 3rd gen i5 on ddr3 , i need to build a new system , and upgrade the cpu (only) later on if anything MUCH better is released ( price and spec wise) , otherwise i won`t be able to play some of the awesome upcoming games this year xd , i would have postponed it to late 2019 but i really want to play metro exodus and cyberpunk xd
  7. I have seen in several sites that Ram speed does not matter on PCs running Intel cpus (gaming wise), while on AMD higher ram speed gives a bit of a performance increase that can range between 10 ~ 30 fps. We already know that in most cases (if am right ) Intel cpus push higher fps than their AMD counterpart , so does using higher ram speed put them on the same lvl fps wise? ( using the fps as a method of comparison cause it is the easiest way lol) I game alot, i also may use my my new pc for programming later on in late 2019, was planning on a i5 8500 or 8600 , they are out of stock tho (maybe gonna wait for 9500 or try to switch some stuff for Amd , should i stick with intel and upgrade next year if they released something that runs on z390 and is actually much better than what we got the past 3 gens since AMD has entered the competition ?? ) thanks
  8. BTW just noticed u got that 7200 1tb barrucada Is it annoying u when it starts to spin up? Mine is annoying af i might leave it out of my next rig... Idk if it is the case
  9. Still got my old rig for now I hope i won't have to wait longer tho lol xd Then i might have to pay an extra 200$ for a i7
  10. Already got the motherboard(each month i am ordering a part for my new rig) , funny thing is all the i5 8th gen are out of stock, currently there is a rise in gaming lounges and pc gamers overall many stuff is going out of stock, only one available is the 9600k I made a mistake of not getting the cpu before the board i guess
  11. As i mentioned above, can't find a i5 8500 in my country right now, out of stock in many places, and the already existing shortage from intel makes it worse Either way am gonna wait a month and see if the 8500 becomes available again, i noticed it doesn't differ much from the 9500, the spectre and meltdown patches according to benchmarks i saw really do not affect that much, and thr 9500 is almost the same as 8500 (but i need a cpu either way lol so if 8500 is never to be found on my side, oh well)
  12. Hi all , i have been getting the parts for my next build and i was going to get the cpu next month, i wanted to get the i5 8500 but now it is out of stock in my country, and am afraid they would take a while to be back instock , so i was wondering if the i5 9500 would run on the z370 , and what it`s gonna be priced at do i need to update the bios of the board or something? Also is the 9500 even out yet? (can`t find proper info on it currently) thanks
  13. Last time i checked 4k HDR monitors are expensive , check tdhis one tho BenQ EL2870U 28 inch 4K HDR Gaming Monitor Idk if there is cheaper
  14. lol but how can i know if it is the one causing the problem??? as i said resmon shows no activity
  15. I tried Hotplugging a couple of years ago , doesnt work on my board i think on my next rig i will look for some sort of external usb mount to plug it in when i want to use it Tho was wondering if there is a software workaround for it
  16. I thought so too, the last scan it did was 2 days ago Tho , and i dont think defender is going to scan it every couple of hours per day
  17. Hi guys , about 3 month ago my old HDD died, it was not my main , it is secondary storage, i have a SSD for windows 10 I got this 1Tb 7200 rpm HDD to replace the old one and i noticed it starts to spin up randomly when the PC is idle I would leave my pc to go to sleep , and sometimes it just spins up randomly for atleast 30 mins ( i put the time for it to spin down after 10 mins of no usage) i even barely use it , i store on it stuff that i don`t use alot and games that i barely play i have steam library on it , but i tried closing steam and leaving it idle , still same result. Also sometimes it spins up when i open Chrome...idk why It doesnt just happen at night, i just returned home and found it running It is really annoying especially that my pc doesnt make any sound , even underload, only the HDD ruins the silence . Anyone knows how to solve this issue?? i checked resmon and task manager , it shows no HDD activity (sometimes in 1 or 2 Kb/s) My pc is a bit old , 7 years , 3rd gen i5 , ddr3 etc etc...could it be because of how old it is? either way am upgrading next year in april, should i add in a extra ssd and ditch that HDD???
  18. As i said my country had very low population of pc gamers, thus not much pc stores that are all about "Gaming" or buying used parts, the other thing is most who buy a desktop tend to keep it till it completely dies, i have seen machines that are till now still running pentium processors and windows 95 (it's not that we aren't advanced in terms of technology, they just know for example it is a i5 it is good, nothing else, not tech savvy is the term? lol). Anyway might look for a used i5 or i7 and keep it for a while , but i still prefer changing the board and going to a newer gen cause my ssd transfer speed is bottlenecked by my board, I don't even have the sweet usb 3, and if i plug thro ethernet cable my ping goes to 500, thus i use WiFi... The list goes on, this good ol'friend needs to retire lol
  19. I looked into ryzen, but the only model that is not out of stock yet is the 2700x which is about 400 usd here (my country had a very low population of pc gamers, they were mostly PlayStation players, only recently we have a hugr increase in pc gaming because of pubg and fortnite) i think that is what contributed to the rise in prices and shortage Bad time for a upgrade i guess I will look into it further Basically i well get the new monitor for now, maybe the power supply and case and will wait to see what happens to the cpu and mother board Thnx for ur time!
  20. Sorry i forgot to mention that the gpu upgrade is for a later date(late 2019) gonna stick with my 1050 ti after this upgrade Also the prices on my side are higher...wow the difference U can see in the image below, some price differences, then add VAT tax it becomes alot more Edit :ram is in cart but missing from picture, 2 x 8 gb sticks (non rgb) for 154$
  21. Hi guys this is my thread for my build plan, any tips, suggestions, thoughts would be much appreciated 1. Budget & Location My budget is about 1,350 USD, i live in lebanon (middle east) My choice of parts are as follows : -Case: Aerocool P7-C1 Pro, cause it has 3 rgb fans included, 1 rear fan, and a tempered glass side panel -Cpu: either thr i5 8500 or i5 9500 depending on the price difference, i was planning for the i5 8600 but price went up from i 235 usd (i think it was that) to 299 usd so depends -Ram: Team T x2 8gb ddr4 ram @ 2666 mhz -Motherboard: Msi z370 gaming m5 motherboard -Msi Frozr L for cpu cooling -a 256gb m.2 nvme -Gpu currently i have a msi 1050 ti oc, i plan to upgrade late 2019 to a 1080 ti or a rtx 2070 (depending on the results and reviews of rtx in games if it is worth it) -power supply either a aerocool gold or a cooler master gold rated (both at 850 watts) 2. Aim For gaming, i play demanding games and want it to be ready for Cyberpunk 2077 and some new games are starting to show the age of my current cpu. I play some online fps , like cs go, and alot of single player games. For programming, currently in college, Studying in MiS, it has courses and uses java, c++ 3. Monitors I have a 8 year old benq it is 1080p @60 hz(can't give model right now, away from pc) Planning to get this Samsung C24FG73FQM 24″ Curved 1080p 1ms 144Hz (copied it is way it is in bold lol) I don't see my self requiring more than 1 moniter at the moment 4. Peripherals Already have a great mouse, headset keyboard well try a mechanical one and decide if i like it or not 5. Why are you upgrading? My current pc is turning 8 years old soon, i only upgrade when i feel it is time for one, it is a 3rd gen i3 with 8 gb ddr3, some normal intel board, a 256 ocz ssd and and a 1tb 7200 rpm barracuda( both will be moved to new rig). It was running most of the games at a 40 fps minimum at 1080p between high and ultra settings, but lately it is starting to drop to the thirties Some games can't run well at all ( like assassin's creed origins) Fun fact : 3rd gen i3 has hyperthreading while 8th gen doesn't...what is intel thinking?? Feel free to give an opinion Also i don't know if i can post the link of the shop i am ordering the ports off(it is a local business in my country and is a good reference for anyone interested in this topic) Sry if i reply late, heading into class soon. Thanks
  22. Hmmm i see the thing is pc gaming in my country was not that well known , most of them are console users(playstation actually , very few play on xbox, i am one of the xbox guys , rarely find another guy who has a xbone here lol) , they are not the typical gamers , most just play fifa or gta 5 or COD, until recently a sudden increase of high tech cyber cafes pc gaming started to grow here ,been a pc gamer for all my life, but the lack of high amount of demand on pc gaming stuff makes it hard and expensive to find all the decent stuff like a proper psu so i think i should look for Corsair , cougar , thermaltake PSU`s with something like a gold psu and more than 80% efficiency , well until i get all the parts i need to start my build i think i would find by then a good one i would be very grateful if u can tell me what to look for in PSUs , i know like alot of stuff on building pcs but nothing on psu Thanks for your help and time P.S. the country is Lebanon , shitty government lol
  23. Yeah, at the time i got it i couldn`t find any other brand, searched several stores , nothing. i might hang on to it a while , am already planning on a new rig , this one got very old ( about or more than 7 years) any psu u can recommend for the new rig? it`s gonna be a msi z370 tomahwack, i5 8500 , maybe gonna stick to my current gpu( 1050 ti) , depends , i may get a 1070 or wait for the new gen i found these tho , didnt get one since i didnt need that 850 w https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/psu/kcas/kcas-850g https://www.thermaltake.com/products-model_gallery.aspx?id=C_00001966 by bad did u mean the brand or type? cause most of them had these aerocool brands Edit : i can order a psu from online sites , but they have to be shipped to my country , and our customs are bastards, for example if i order a 90$ item , when i receive i will have to pay like 30 or 40 $ customs extra ( that`s with out shipping fees ) for example i ended up paying 200$ for the jaybird x3 earphones which the initial price was 115 $ ( were on sale, shipping cost me somewhere between 20 or 30 $)
