I will only be using the 3090 for gaming (and vr), not as a workstation card.
I know its performance is only slightly above a 3080ti, but considering the higher vram capacity and future reselling value, £30 more for a 3090 seems very reasonable.
But is it even worth it to me?

Psu = Txm 750

Hi, i’m set on purchasing a rtx 3090 after lots of research. I’m planning to choose either the Zotac Trinity one (£560) or the MSI Gaming X Trio (£600).
The Msi one is obviously higher quality, would you spend the additional £40?
Both have the same 2 year warranty from the trusted store i’m purchasing from.
If any other information is required just let me know!

still 320*2=640+150=790W
Not at all saying you are wrong here but i have never heard or seen anything about doubling the “average power draw” of a gpu to determine the most it might draw. I could understand adding like 100W to get an estimate but from what i know, doubling it seems a bit extreme.

I was slightly mistaken:
3090 TI = 850W+
3090 = 750W
What CPU do you have, @Ed.NevApologies for not providing that. It’s the I5 12600KF
As far as i’ve seen elsewhere it is good for any of the cards here. Would you agree? Thanks

I'd still undervolt 3090 at least slightly either way to avoid potential crashes from transients.
Sorry what are transients?

Hi!
I’m looking to purchase a new gpu and these are my current options and their prices:Rtx 4070 Super = £580
Rtx 3090 = £580
Rtx 4070ti = £640
My concerns are the lack of frame generation on the 3090 - though i have tried frame gen and don’t love it in all games. I’m really worried about only 12gb vram on both the 4070 super and ti as i want this card to last a few years.
Sadly the 4070ti super (and above) is just too expensive.
My psu = Corsair TXM 750
My case has good cooling and have undervolted before so could do that to offset the heat of the 3090
Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated.

in modern CPU heavy games, yes. The 9700k or 9900k would be better obviously.
I had a 9900k with an RTX 2080 Super and that felt like a decent combo.Would it be worth the upgrade though or should i just buy a new mobo and higher gen cpu
-
The seem to be so close to one another. Is there going to be a cpu bottle neck here?
Main issue is that my mobo is limited to 9th gen max and so new cpu means new mobo as well :((
Other notable specs:
2tb nvme ssd
16gb ddr4 2666mhz
(can’t remember mobo but it doesn’t allow for OC)
Oh and just remember to add i play at 1440p

When running my Vega 56 Asus strix in games, the gpu temps sits at about 81 degrees centigrade.
Although this is quite warm I know it is safe and not harmful to the card.
However, the GPU memory reaches a temp of 88 degrees centigrade at a peak and sits at about 87 on average.
Are these temps anything to worry about?
-
It is not over heating, all temps are below 75
Will not respond at all until hard shut down
Any idea what the issue is and how to fix?
Specs:
i5 9600KF
16gb ddr4 2660 mhz
Asus strix rx vega 56 8gb
PSU= Corsair TXM 750W Gold
Thanks

interesting, because that is one of the ones that i had installed, might i suggest running malware bytes and seeing if that picks anything up, same as defender (defender will check for errors inside of windows along with a virus scan)
okay will do, thanks

what sort of problems are you running into playing blade and sorcery?, i had a 4670 with an 1060 6gb that ran it quite well and when i got a 9600k and a 2070 i ran it with mods and it worked perfectly, when i house sat i ran it with the same mods but through a laptop (3gb 1060 and a like 6th gen old i5 i think) and it ran it quite well ingame but loading is where most of my issues were
I'm not sure what's happening but even with just 1 mod installed CPU is running 70% with no enemies and 90-100 when there are enemies and this bottleneck causes alot of lag. any ideas??

Are there any cheaper options you can recommend something around £70?

...you're kinda crippled either way.
2666mhz RAM isn't the best for Ryzen, and it's a weaker CPU.
But if you upgrade to the 9600k, you can't overclock it....so you miss a bit of performance there.
The A320 motherboards are pretty bad as well, I wouldn't pay that kind of money for one.
Yeah it's not a great situation but I did some research and found that 9600k Vs OC 9600k aren't that huge of a difference so what should I do?

I am upgrading from an i5 8400 as it is lagging behind in VR. I play alot of very CPU demanding VR games like blade and Sorcery.
Which CPU is a better upgrade for me?
For the Ryzen I would have to buy a new mobo but I can get the Gigabyte A320M-S2H for £50 and as Ryzen 5 2600x are very cheap, bundling the two together is similar priced to an i5 9600k
So which CPU will be most effective for me?
Other specs:
Vega 56
12gb ddr4 2660mhz
2tb 7200 rpm HDD
120gb ssd
(current mobo) MSI H310m pro-vh
TXM 750W psu
Thank youuu

upgrading from i5 8400 is this a good option? budget max £200. title says it all really
thanks
also on CPU user benchmark it ranks 11th and i5 8400 ranks 65th ISH.

Vega 56 uses HMB memory, which is not a separate chip on the board like GDDR is, it's actually bonded to the GPU to allow wider and faster communication lanes between them, but it also means that there is a shared heat load between them. The more VRAM is in use, the more heat it is creating, the less thermal room the GPU cores have to boost and visa versa.
so all fans at max? :))))

My vega 56 has all 8gb of vram used in blade and sorcery and this is causing awful lag, however the culprit isn't the amount of vram, its that the game is limiting the clock speed of the vram to 500mhz or 167mhz (nothing different) when in other games it can run up to its full 920mhz. How to I fix this so that the game using the full speed of my vram?
thanks

what screen on time are you all getting?
just curious so I know roughly what to expect.
I do know that alot of factors determine this and it will be different for everyone just want a brief idea.
thanks :):):):)

How do they compare in real usage?
-
I would want to change from 1440p to HD+ is this possible
btw i want to do it to save battery.

I have been playing blade and sorcery and i noticed it was very laggy and looking at usages i can see that it is using all 8gb of vram although I am well above recommended specs and im playing on lowest graphics and still getting incredibly low fps
any suggestions on why its using so much?
the minimum specs is 4 gb of vram and recommended is 8gb so I should be fine especially on low settings.
all other components are well below 100% usage
thanks
Is it worth spending £30 more for a 3090 over 3080TI

Do you think in the next few years i’ll find a use for that much vram in gaming (i’m at 1440p) or will it just be a nice to have.
In Vr it will really help if i have mods but that’s about it
