  1. Seems im too early to see the warfare of "apple bad" vs "apple good" in the comments, but I'll put in my two cents as somebody who is certainly crotch deep in the ecosystem. In no specific order I own: 2014 Macbook Air 2011 Macbook Pro 13" iPhone 12 Pro Max Apple Watch Series 4 iPad Pro 12.9" + Magic Keyboard + Apple Pencil Airpods Pro The only things im missing that I want are the apple card (I am aware so far as credit cards go it's nothing spectacular. but I use CC's as debit cards i pay once a month, so it doesn't matter), and the magsafe wallet. Notice the Airpods Max arent on that list. Thats because I don't wear over ears in public anymore, and Im very happy with my propods to the point where I can't justify $550 on headphones. I feel for *most* people, excluding those who use headphones as a fashion statement and those who just still think it's the early 2000's when over ears in public was a thing, the propods are probably the better buy. But, the airpods max seem super cool and I might buy them second hand in a year or two.
  2. Not just you! Mind you, I also have pretty bad ADHD.
  3. Unfortunately the warrenty doesnt renew with each new mouse. I gave up once the replacements quit being free, and bought a razer viper ultimate. Im a lefty, so i needed at the minimum an ambidextrous mouse with buttons on the right side. Sadly all the proper lefty mice have ceased production (Razer Deathadder left handed edition was my favorite, but mine died)
  4. I went through 3 G903's in 2.5 years because of the logi double click issue. after that i threw the towel in and bought a razer viper ultimate. I am not hard on my mice at all.
  5. Would be trivial to get any local print shop to print the vinyl for you. They just need the dimensions of the sheet (the size of the glass, in this case), and what you want on it. I have not seen it done *personally*, but it could be super cool!
  6. Firstly, i am warning you that that drive is very notorious for failure. Mind you, all laptop drives tend to get a bad rep seeing how they are in portable devices that see a lot of abuse, but this seems to be statistically significant. Secondly, yes you can replace the PCB but i dont reccomend it as the cost of the PCB out-runs the cost of a new drive. See here: https://www.hddzone.com/seagate-100720903-pcb-p-604.html at $42 plus shipping i would much rather just buy a new drive.
  7. My apologies. I had been thinking of an update that enabled more features in the overlay. After looking through yoru post, I do believe the issue may be Windows' poor handling of some drivers. Just because a driver appears to be installed and working does not mean it is. Here is the link for the Dell/Alienware official drivers for the Aurora R4. Try installing the provided Chipset driver, Intel Management Engine Interface driver, as well as "Dell Update/Alienware Update Application for Windows 10" program in the order i listed them. Code 43 could mean anything. It simply means that the display driver stopped because *something* went wrong, something being everything from a bad power supply, a failed GPU, or bad drivers elsewhere in the system.
  8. Did you manually install drivers, or let windows take care of it? Kind of sounds like missing chipset drivers. Is there anything missing in device manager? No GPU performance metric in task manager just means windows isnt updated. Thats a very new feature.
  9. The site linked worked, however the one thing it did not manage to restore and that I cannot find is the proper driver to make the keyboard shortcuts work for audio, brightness, etc.
  10. The site @demonix00suggested appears to be genuine, and working very well. If it fails for some reason, I will try the HWID method
  11. Any reason nothing happens when i click download? EDIT: Chrome was being stupid. I swapped to edge and it worked. Will report back with driver compatibility
  12. Hello everybody, i purchased a Sony Vaio VGN-P35J with a wiped hard drive second hand... i installed Windows 7, and have been met with two "unknown device" entries in device manager. Since this laptop was only sold in China as far as im aware, american Google is of no help and my mandarin is nowhere near good enough to navigate chinese google. I *did* manage to find the driver download page on Sony's chinese website, linked here, but it appears the download links might be dead. I havent tried to VPN to china to see if its a geo-restricted thing for some reason. Any help finding drivers, or if at all possible, a recovery ISO? Thank you in advance!
  13. Dark mode all the things! My eyes are incredibly bad at adjusting to changes in light, i need to wear sunglasses a lot of the time because of it. In order to keep light theme from giving me horrid migranes, the brightness needs to be so low that its not usable.
  14. Caffeine and its derivatives are fine, which is all this gum has in it. whats frowned upon are harder and usually illegal substances.
  15. 5 gum = ~$ 0.018 per stick Razer Respawn= ~$ 0.187 per stick EDIT: Just read the article fully and its a 5 Gum partnership... good choice. id imagine the cost difference is largely in the additives and razer isnt actually making bank on this. roughly 10x the cost per stick compared to my regular gum, but far from the worst price ive seen either... idk, people will buy it. If its what @PineyCreek says it is, i may even buy it or source the same product cheaper.
  16. Could not tell from the pictures if anything got in the way with a GPU in place, since things get shuffled around depending on what hardware is in... I suppose only one way to find out!
  17. Hello! Looking to do a build in the SG14 as i absolutely need a 5 1/4" drive and its about the smallest case i know of that supports one and is basically a better thought out version of my current case, the Thermaltake Lanbox Lite. My question is as such. Does anybody know if i can have a full length GPU and a 5 1/4" drive in the case at the same time? Its difficult to tell from the photos and the website doesnt say. Thank you in advance!
  18. Its a fine paste, but being preapplied curing starts immediately and shipping conditions (heat, moisture, etc) are horrid on paste. ESPECIALLY on coolers bought from online retailers. I recently bought Noctua NTH-2 and repasted my macbook air with it, very happy and its now my go to paste
  19. Preapplied thermal paste usually isnt good. Reapply with some high quality stuff and make sure your mount is good
  20. I was referring to the OS developers themselves, not apps... apps are of course a mixed bag. However, as efficient as the linux kernel is, there is quite literally nothing more efficient than knowing exactly what hardware your software will see. THAT is where iOS gets its buff in optimization, and partially why iPhones get away with lagging behind in battery sizes, RAM, etc... And for the record i have on several occasions in my life dialed android phones, including cyanogenmod and other "stock" android versions.
  21. iOS also has vastly superior software optimization than google can ever achieve, since the iOS devs know exactly what the software will see and can code around it. Android doesnt have that same level of certainty.
