Hey there Linusoids, been a while and a bit.
 
Never really stopped folding, been doing a lot with the main system since I last posted. Making more money, looking to move after the heaters broke in this building, so I've been running hot and hard. Upgraded the PSU to do it. After everything that's happened, I really don't feel bad about popping for two 1080Tis back in 2018. They stay folding almost 24/7, unless I want to game or something, and nothing slows them down. CPU's all too happy to join in the fun sometimes...but I get stuck with a lot of 3-day projects, so I usually finish, pause, and restart after one of those. But yeah, I never really left, just got busy with life.

It's more than that, there's the four moons of Crusader, there's little Delamar, the entirety of Hurston is navigable and has surface activity (brutal FPS stuff, really intense), there's its three moons, ArcCorp no longer crashes at the drop of a hat so you can enjoy all of its splendor, including doing some low-flying buzzes all around the planet as well as what's at Area 18, both of ArcCorp's moons are totally mapped out, there's all the space stations including PO, Grim, all the R&Rs... It's kind of amazing how much there is to do in the game, how much there is to see thus far. It's all very beautiful as well, even with some of the graphical oddballs.
 
If Star Citizen were a scam, it'd be an awfully wasteful scam, considering how much there there is to it that you can interact with, and how alive it feels even in this primitive state. Isn't the whole idea of a scam to get as much easy money as possible and then disappear? There's an awful lot of effort present here for there to be any huge "gotcha" down the road.

Setting things up as a corporation with investors is no guarantee of solid promises. Look at the dot coms from the 90s. Look at the WeWork situation. Look at the ongoing undercurrent of real estate "investment" schemes. If RSI/CIG was defying the laws of financial gravity, it'd be a different situation; it'd show that they were hiding their true financial nature, then they'd go bust in a wave of scandals and that's when everybody'd find out how much the top brass had profited while maintaining little more than a shell company. That kind of methodology is much easier to do with venture capital and traditional investment methods; crowdfunded backers are a quicker, dirtier business that usually involve something that looks too good to be true. Whereas with Star Citizen, it's been a rocky ride for certain, with moments where it loked like the whole thing might come to a complete end.
 
But it hasn't, and it's only gotten better and better as time goes on. Sometimes, it's not about the finished product; it's about being part of the development process as it goes along, something a lot of other video game companies can seriously learn from.
