  1. Ah, so if its physical then markind bad sectors won't do anything lol. And if its not, then there is no reason to run a tool before hand as it will have the same effect as the system checking it during an operation
  2. So if I run a tool, and it finds them, it will mark it before I do an operation? Can bad sectors spread or cause more bad sectors? That would be the only reason to me now to run a tool. To prevent bad sectors from spreading
  3. So it sounds to me that modern HDDs automatically check for bad sectors and mark them then whenever you do an operation on the drive? so no need to even run these diagnostic utilities?
  4. Yeah its fresh off Newegg. What tools should I use. I have WD Lifeguard tools and i intend to run tests on it. When these tools detect bad sectors, do they write them off even if there is data there and block it off?
  5. Just like the title suggest, I bought one and just slapped it on. I didn't do a full format or check for bad sectors. I am offloading 500 GB right now to it so I can disable one of the HDDs till I find my cases mounting brackets Will it be fine if I run WD Data Lifeguard tools after the fact? If Data is written on bad sectors, will it remove that data? What will it do with bad sectors? the 500 GB I moved over is of little consequence to me btw but I definitely don't want to delete and recopy again unless absolutely necessary
  6. I was gonna buy a GTX 1080 Ti SC to upgrade from my R9 290. I can get one used for 520 right now. 290 is painful at 4k. What do yall think? Wait for 1180 to come out and go ahead on this deal? Me waiting would be to hopefully get a better cooled one
