0 hinges on a phone was enough for me.

I can understand the appeal of them for some people though.

    Source: https://9to5mac.com/2019/10/17/google-photos-iphone-loophole-free-unlimited-storage-orig-quality/

In a stupidly funny news today, Google Photos automatically store images from iPhones at original quality because trying to compress HEIC/HEIF images (the format modern iPhones have been defaulting to for years now) actually increases the size of the file
If HEIC/HEIF indeed takes up much lower space compared to traditional jpeg, I can't possibly understand why Google hasn't already shifted to HEIF and HEVC by default on android. I'm aware of the licensing stuff, but if Apple's able to do it, google should also be able to. They could save so much storage space if they did shift, especially since Google Photos has turned into defacto photo back up software.

Nonetheless, it's still quite hilarious especially since Pixel 4 was curiously dropped out of this highlight service

Edit: Since Galaxy S10 and Note10 users also have the option to save images in HEIF (not default I think), even you guys will get unlimited storage at full res

To be fair, that thing will do nothing in a real situation. In this event it would likely get kicked over and then destroyed.

At most it can send a GPS coordinate to the police station and they can go based on that but then it's rife for abuse and fake callouts

There's quite a bit wrong here.
On X99 and earlier, the X designation was the top unlocked HEDT SKU. The K designation was every other unlocked SKU on their desktop platforms.
K SKU CPUs also weren't stripped (or limiting) any features of their non-K SKU counterparts.

3rd gen Threadriper is going to make this launch irrelevant. 2 years..all the fierce competition from AMD..and this is all they can put out. Surely this is pointless because it's going to get slammed by reviewers while Threadripper is going to get all the praise in the world.

Let's hope the price/performance they've been talking about is true, if it has better value than 3rd gen then maybe it can have a purpose.

I would take these scores with a bucket of salt though because geekbench likes cache I believe, something the 3900x has a ton of.

Wait...an ad blocker that slows down web browsing? Even my i7 4770 (3.9 all core) and 4790K (4.7 all core) take forever to load some pages due to how aids ridden some websites are, making an adblocker mandatory for them.

T02MY reacted to BigDamn in EPIC JAILBREAK: Introducing checkm8 (read "checkmate"), a permanent unpatchable bootrom exploit for hundreds of millions of iOS devices.
For those who don't appear to be understanding (or don't want to understand?), this poses a big threat to security on iPhones. If you lose your phone and someone steals it, iCloud won't help you. This allows a thief to circumvent iCloud and completely reload iOS to use for themselves... or they could install spyware and return the phone to you. Essentially, if someone gets their hands on your phone for even a few minutes your data and privacy could be compromised. There's nothing Apple can do to prevent this now. Major oof.

In the continuing saga of "don't trust hardware manufacturers", Microsoft has announced that BitLocker will no longer by default utilise hardware encryption.

Their reasoning is based on repeatedly finding that hardware implementations often have severe flaws, significantly harming security

I'm conflicted between my hatred of how Google manipulates search results to fit their political agenda, and my hatred of news sources that proclaim themselves as journalists, which should arguably a non-profit endeavor, that also report solely to fit their own political agenda (which stands in clear defiance of journalism as a moral endeavor.)

However, I am glad to see the two eating one another, since the majority of news sites have the same political agenda as the people who work at Google.

you can replace google with any search engine and they probably wont be jumping to pay news publishers to advertise for them. like duckduckgo probably dont have enough money to do it even if they want to. and a law like this probably helps google maintain their monopoly more than anything if they decided to cave and pay

EPYC will still belong in servers.
Octochannel Threadripper is limited to 1 DIMM per channel (2TB RAM cap, instead of 4), will likely be clocked higher (higher TDP and power draw), only support single socket, and likely missing security features in Epyc.

Supermicro often makes a workstation variant but are still using the server chipset so the additional workstation niceties are often delivered by extra chipsets added to the board. It's much more 'elegant' to have a proper workstation chipset with these capabilities in it so less chips and 3rd party drivers required. It also lowers the cost which is nothing to complain about.

    Edit:
Also Intel has a large lineup of single socket Xeons on a different socket and chipset that have the extra I/O inbuilt. The dual socket workstations are still the higher end Xeons on the same chipset that require those extra things I mentioned but what AMD is doing is the same as the Intel Xeons on socket H4 (1151)/R4 (2066) etc.

Intel workstations are a mess of hodgepodge different chipsets, sockets, feature support. Basically it's a complete mess compared to what AMD are proposing.
