  1. hi, I am looking for a new smartphone, the budget is about €400, I live in Luxembourg so the phone will most likely be bought in Germany. These phones have extremely similar spec sheets and I was wondering which one would offer the best experience. I currently have a pixel 2 but the battery life has degraded so far and the performance isn't what it used to be. My favorite things about it are the software and the excellent cameras, but it's really starting to show it's age considering I bought it back in 2017. I am always open to new suggestions as well.
  2. So, I am a student and don't have much space. I have a lenovo c740 with 2 usb c ports one of which supports charging. I have a 32" screen on my desk and want to put my laptop vertically next to it, i have a seperate keyboard and mouse and am searching for a solution that only requires me to only plug in one cable into my laptop to charge it and connect all my peripherals and display. If you have a suggestion for a dock that would fit this description, feel free to comment it below.
  3. i'd indeed like to have one of those but they're a bit out of price range, certainly for the i7 versions
  4. Hi, I am looking for a laptop on which I can get some work done. The budget is about 1300€ give or take 10%. I'll buy it anywhere in western Europe. It should be pretty powerful preferably with an i7 4 or 6 core and have at least 8 to 10 hours of battery life while doing semi intensive stuff like searching databases. It also has to have 16gb of ram and a 500gb SSD or better. At home i'll be transferring files from my nas so i'd like it to have an ethernet port or thunderbolt 3 port. I'd like the screen to be 17" preferably or 15" if 17" is too heavy on battery life. The build quality should be good since i'll be carrying it in a backpack together with some other stuff. The operating system must be windows 10 (home, pro or education).
  5. So, i have a wd nas from like 9 years ago at home. it's a white one, dual bay from WD. But after 9 years of service, it broke. I have a backup from 12 hours before the crash but i need one file that is on there that isn't backed up. I took one of the drives and connected it my pc with a sata to usb connector and the disk shows up in diskpart. But not in file explorer, why is this? Is there a way to access these files when the disk isn't installed in the nas?
  6. Hi, iam a 2nd year computer science student and i need a lot of storage for projects and stuff. Well, around 2tb, i don't know if that's a lot or not. Until now for each of my different projects, i use several external hard drives. Now, you can guess what happens next. Correct, i dropped one and it broke. Luckily, the firm i sent it to could recover the data but at a pretty high cost. Now, iam a lucky guy with some parents willing to pay for the bill of a good nas. Now, at home my parents have a wd nas for media and stuff but sometimes in the middle of the night, it wakes up and starts making noise although it should be in some kind of sleep mode. For them that's not a problem because the nas is in the basement but i only have a small room and i need some sleep at night. Does anyone know of a nas that has some kind of programmable sleep schedule? The price should be beneath 300€ for a 2bay nas with 2x 3-4tb drives in raid 1.
  7. Thanks for the tips, i now have a 1080ti strix spinning in my system crunching every game i play on ultra at 1440p. I thought it would be nice to know that helping out on the forum really helps people out.
  8. So, iam looking to upgrade my current 1050 ti with something newer and more capable. My cpu is the i7 6900k. I was looking around and i found a 5700 for €300 and an rtx 2060 for €320. Then out of curiosity i started looking at second hand gpu's and i found a 1080 ti for €350. The guy told me that if i want to, i can test the card at his place before buying it to make sure it works. My question to you is:which one is better value and are there any important features that the 1080ti lacks that the newer cards have?
  9. I am currently using a logitech g230 but the soundquality is unremarkable at best and the ear cups have become sanding paper. So now i'm looking for a new one. I'd like it to be wireless and have a soft padding instead of the fabric on the g230. I don't really have a brand prference but it has to be under €100, have a mic and be over ear. Thanks in advance
  10. Hi, I am currently searching for a laptop and the surface pro 6 grabbed my attention. The only problem with it is the price... €1300 for an i5 with 256gb ssd. I am searching for something you can detach from the keyboard and has a kickstand. I would like to have at least a quad core i5, i7, ryzen 5 or ryzen 7, a 1080p screen, at least 256 gb of storage and since i'm from belgium, an azerty bep keyboard while not going above €1000. All suggestions are welcome.
  11. I know it's hard work but if you can, take all parts out of the mobo and see if it gives a code. Otherwise, rma it
  12. If you have an msi or asus mobo, try flashing your Bios with a usb stick. The last time i smelt burning plastic, my hard drive burnt up. So if you can, remove the hard drive and try to boot into the BIOS.
