Yeah I think I unsubscribed from them all eventually, I haven't gotten one in a long time.
Realistically it's in their financial interests to keep even inactive accounts from being deleted. I'm sure that's why they make it a pain.

You know what I'm going to pull out my old Dell with it's Pentium M to see if it still boots. I had it out to see if I had a SSD in it, I do not. It's weird tho, PATA HDD but SATA optical but it can't hold the boot loader on the SATA HDD in the optical to 2.5 adapter for some reason so I have GRUB on the PATA and just point to the SATA in the optical bay. I can't believe how long I used it for, I'll check some file dates. Having just one core is what crippled it, but the screen was pretty terrible too. Good speakers tho, seems like everyone forgot how to put speakers on laptops.

Managed to put a bulge in one of my rear sidewalls so new rear tyres.

Annoying as I'm planning on replacing the wheels pretty soon, but I should at least be able to run the current rear 255/35 R19s on the front with 275/30 out back.

Likely going for Japan Racing SL01 flow-formed in 8.5x19 ET33 front and 9.5x19 ET42 rear. 9kg and 9.6kg a corner respectively instead of 16 for the OEM wheels.

So far its stock other than:
M Performance slotted and grooved disks M Performance pads M Performance LSD xHP Stage 2 gearbox map "Hot climate" intake mod OEM M3 shift paddles Koni Active Red shocks on OE springs  I've got a painted M Performance style spoiler in the garage to go on but not fitted it yet. Will probably go Stage 2 (map + high flow cat) at some point for ~460bhp. Would also quite like the M Performance splitter, diffuser and side skirts in carbon fibre.

Well I guess fuck you Best Buy.

Certified Refurbished my ass. At least it seems to be empty of data so either broken and returned before it was used and missed on inspection and never even wiped or it was broken after being wiped. Currently running data recovery on it to see if there was anything left on it then I'll check disk info on it to see how much it was read/written just out of curiosity before returning it. I'd rather have a working drive than my money back.

Frog is starting to look even cooler now 🙂 I've installed the optical drive and the USB card from my paternal Uncle, the beige 5.25" floppy drive and the Soundblaster Pro 2 (for testing and seeing what the midi is like on it) from my maternal Uncle. The NOS beige 3.25" floppy drive from the shop haul a couple of weeks ago. and the IDE to Compact Flash (With a 1GB card in it) from eBay a while ago.  Didn't need any power extensions or adapters to get power to all the drives and cards.  Here's the pics..

yeah, yeah..I know, the colours are slightly off.  But it looks waaayy better than having the black drives in there...and not a DVD drive to worry my air cooled Voodoo 3 3000 AGP in sight 🙂

Congratulations babe. I know how hard you've been working on this project getting Frog up and running. I'm so happy to see your progress and follow you along in your journey.
Frog is looking amazing. I'm glad he's kept his little signature smile on his face.

I work in a corporate IT department, and if I found out someone did this, frankly, I'd have them written up or fired. Do not modify company equipment. Also, if the IT dept. is at all competent, they will find out.

Also, sorry to be a pain, but I'll probably be selling most of the stuff out of these as the plan is to built one decent retro DOS 6.22 / Windows 98 SE machine out of all three of them.  Is it worth putting the stuff in the classifieds here first for a few weeks before listing them on eBay or shall I just head straight to eBay? (I know everyone is broke at the minute with the cost and living and such but then....so am I 😛 )

You may or may not remember I managed to snag my late Uncle's Baby AT machine a while back.  It's been in storage since then but today I took it out of storage and booted it up for the first time..It was quite surprising what was in there.  I was expecting maybe a 386 or a 486 with 4-8MB of RAM..but...

The purchase sticker on the bottom dates the PC back to '94 so my uncle must have put some serious chops in to upgrading this thing over the years.  I can't get past this screen yet as I can't find my PS/2 to AT converter for my keyboard.  I guess the next step is to stand down the monitor and open the little tower up and have a dig through the cables in there

I'll create a new post, sorry.  I've opened up the Baby AT system a cleared out the mess of ribbon cables to reveal the gooey goodness inside..

It has a Gigabyte GA 586ATV Rev 4B Socket 7 Motherboard in it. Which to Gigabyte's credit they still have the manual for online here..
    https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-586ATV/support#support-manual

Compatibility in the manual list up to a Pentium 200 and a Pentium MMX 233

It also has this Cirrus Logic VC923/926 Fastware card with the GD5446 chipset which another forum lists as one of the first consumer grade parts with media acceleration built in

and finally a Creative Labs CT1690..The Creative Soundblaster Pro 2 from 1993..

I like this one cause it has the older Creative logo on the bigger chip and the newer one on the smaller chip 🙂

I got one. My mom pays several of her bills thru the bill pay section of Huntington’s online banking. I generally pay companies directly. While my folks were out of state I was handling the bills. Well my mom is secondary on my bank account. I was paying multiple bills and managed the pay the gas/ electric out of my account. All because I’ve never used the banks site to pay bills.

Today I learned that my mom was completely unaware of the 1TB HDD in her laptop that she has owned for 5 years.
She has just been filling the 256GB boot SSD up, and now there are only 31GB of free space left on it, while the HDD is completely empty.
    I am actually amazed.

I don't know if it counts as a purchase.
Found an Apple USB Superdrive and cleaned it up as I have a 2011 MacBook Air I can use it with. Just something to put in the random apple crap I don't need a collection
EDIT the picture didn't work because my iPhone saved it as a .HEIC file.

Got me some of them got damn racin car wheels for the black Hyken I just got a couple weeks ago. It's absolutely insane how much of a difference for noise these guys can make on hard flooring, and they actually make it just a little bit harder to roll around which actually makes getting in and out of the chair easier.

Also, I may or may not have spent a little more on these ones just because I liked the actual wheel design more.

"Certified refurbished by Geek Squad" 870 Evo 1TB SSD for about $20 off. I need some laptop storage that doesn't need to be blazing fast but also needs to not be a spinning disk but I also need it to be reliable, I haven't had a Samsung SSD fail me yet. Now I can easily have my /home directory on a different drive entirely should I need to do a clean install or something nukes the boot drive.

    I wish.
Nissan SUV just suddenly appeared overnight with an absolutely shredded R/R tire. Just a key. No note, not call, no information at all in the vehicle. They called at noon "is it done?" Is what done? "my car" Which car? "the nissan?" Which Nissan? "the one with the tire!" ...No it's not done, who are you? "I'm the owner, it's supposed to be done this morning!" We open at 9, you called at noon "No you're 24 hours!" No no we are not open 24 hours "The tow was taking it to a 24 hours for my tire" Even if we were open 24 hours we would have had no way to get a hold of you to approve repairs or tell you if the wheel is bent. "My wheel is bent?!?" We haven't looked at it yet. "why not! It's been there all night!" We weren't open, we had no contact information, we don't touch anything without owner permission. "so I gotta pay another hunded n fifty to tow it somewhere 24 hours!" We can look at it but we need your information and we do charge a diag fee to look at it. "look at what? it's just a tire you can see that" Sir the tire is shredded and bare wheel is touching the ground, you drove on it flat we don't know if you damaged the wheel, tire pressure sensor, suspension, etc. "I DID NOT DROVE ON IT FLAT"

On and on like that. As she's wrapping up the call like 15 minutes later "so how much the warranty pay for it?" Excuse me? "my warranty, I got warranty on it" Ok which company, what's your contract number, and what's the claim dept number? "I don't know just tell me how much they gonna pay" *she explains how a warranty claim works* "so its gonna be done before you close?"
At this point she's getting a little red in the face with this guy. Told him that it would take up to 48 hours for the claims process with the warranty company to go through and we couldn't start until we had the needed information. Guy hangs up but we had permission to at least look at the car.

So onto fuck up #2. Tell newbie to pull it in, take the wheel off, spin it on the balancer by hand to check for bends and make sure all 4 TPMS work. New guy dismounts the shredded tire. We need that rack for an alignment. I ask him if anyone told him to take the tire off the rim and after a long pause "uhhhh....no?" We have exactly ONE 18" tire, it's a low profile with a VERY hard sidewall we use to set engines and transmissions on. I help newbie mount it on the wheel so we can clear the rack. Car looks like when you put the tiniest wheels on in Mario Kart.

It's now several hours later after lunch. Owner calls in with warranty info, call claims, claims needs tread depth on the shredded tire, depth is acceptable, they pay for one tire. Won't pay for the two bald tires up front at I shit you now 2/32nds. Told front desk if they want to be a dick call the cops to ticket him for bald tires, that's illegal in our state. Front desk says they'll see how the guy is when he picks up. Guy of course only gets the single tire that warranty pays for. Fuck it, Nissan AWD can handle 3 tires with different tread depths, not my problem.
