  1. Welcome! As a recent newcomer myself, I'd encourage you to post and interact with others. Everyone I've interacted with thus far have been great!
  2. Personally, I would abide by their wishes. If it really mattered that much to you, you could have a drink beforehand or leave before the party's end to grab something to drink. As the party is for their kid, and the parents specifically requested no alcohol, it would be disrespectful to show up to their event with alcohol.
  3. Back when I was living up in that area, when packages were going through Rockford, they always took a day or sometimes even two to depart to the next carrier facility. I would not be overly concerned unless you go three or more days without an update.
  4. Is that the only reason you use Firefox? Or are there any other reasons?
  5. Hello fellow LTT fans! I am curious what your thoughts are all on browsers - specifically between Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. I know LTT has done a video on browsers, and that chrome has the larger marketshare. However, people seem to like firefox for the anti-tracking and privacy aspects. What are your thoughts on these two browsers, which do you use and why?
  6. It's not a direct ratio of 2x faster overnight. However, there is truth in that during the hours that you are supposed to be sleeping, your metabolism is decreased. Combine this with decreased activity, simply put you are not as active in the wee hours of the morning as you would be during the day. So the eating, slower metabolism, and decreased physical activity during these hours can lead to increased weight gain. However, everyone is built differently and everyone's Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is different. But overall, it is generally a good idea to avoid food during the "sleeping" hours. If you do find the need to eat, try drinking a glass of water or some fruit and wait 20-30 minutes. This should give you a feeling of "fullness". Hope this helped!
  7. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about their parents aside from get advice from the local police department in my opinion. It is not your responsibility or place to bring that up with your friend's parents. Also, whether you should remain friends with him is up to you. If this situation makes you uncomfortable, and you think this is going to be more than a one-time occurrence, you have no obligation to tolerate it. Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would maybe ask your friend about it, and express your concern (if you have any). If the behavior continues, I would personally be unlikely to remain friends with them. But ultimately, this decision is up to you.
  8. Disregard and not let it influence you as much as possible. Or another possibility is to spend time with your friend at your house or at public places that he would not be able to drink alcohol.
  9. If that's your thought process, then the best would be to ignore it. Just do not allow yourself to get into dangerous situations or peer pressured into having a drink if they try to encourage you to (this can be VERY difficult in the moment). As long as it is not directly influencing or affecting you, then it's probably best to ignore it as best you can.
  10. If this is the case, I would say that it should be mentioned to some sort of authoritative figure that is not their parents. You could ask the local police department as it could possibly be considered child endangerment. If they won't be able to help, perhaps they could point you in the right direction.
  11. Good morning! (or afternoon) In this case and scenario, it is definitely a difficult situation to assess. On one hand, you would want to take action, and on the other you wouldn't want to report your friend. In this situation, I would definitely reach out to his parents and authorities and report this behavior. Not only is this illegal, but also is detrimental (harmful) to his health at such a young age of development. Drinking alcohol at that age could cause health and development issues during the beginning of puberty. If his actions begin to put you in danger, report his behavior immediately! Do not allow yourself to be put in harms way! Ultimately, whatever you decide, realize and understand that it is not your personal responsibility to look after his well-being. I have seen this far too often where friends will go out of their way to try and look after somebody who makes poor decisions and puts them at risk for injury and health problems. TLDR: Reach out to his parents and officials, but ultimately realize that his well-being is not your personal responsibility. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk this over more. This can be a difficult situation, and having someone to talk things through is immensely helpful for gathering and processing your thoughts.
  12. That is true, however unless Vegas Pro has some free version somewhere, I said in my original post I don't want to have to purchase a service/software.
  13. Greetings fellow forum users! This is my first post on the forum, and I hope this is in the right spot (if not, I apologize!). I am wondering for those of you who put videos on youtube, how do you create an intro scene that looks visually appealing? I don't really want to spend money to pay for a service or anything, and I'm sure there are free websites or programs out there. Let me know what you use or have heard of! Thanks ahead of time!
  14. I can understand your concern, as I am currently attending university. Here are some tips for protecting yourself in my opinion: 1) To protect against pendrives, ensure that your computer has a login with a secure password and additionally do not leave your computer laying around in public or easily accessible places. I know this is isn't exactly the answer you may be looking for, but physical attacks are immensely more difficult to prevent due to physical accessibility to your device. 2) Do not download/open email attachments or other files sent to you unless you know who it is from and you are expecting said document or file. Double checking the email contents such as the senders email and verifying with the person are two methods to ensure it is not a malicious impostor. 3) Download an antivirus software. AVG has a free version that includes file scanning through right-click, and LTT recently did a video on BitDefender. You can find the video here: Lastly, think.edu is a website that offers huge student discounts when you purchase software/items through your school-registered email address. While I'm not sure that all universities support the site (although I think it would) you can certainly check the website, as a year subscription to full BitDefender protection was $15.99. Hope this helps, cheers. EDIT: The price is currently $14.95 for 1 year protection with VPN, and available for both mac and windows OS. Additionally there is an option for 2-year total protection for 5 devices plus VPN for $39.95.
  15. I was hesitant to give this video a view after reading the comments of this thread, however I wanted to see for myself what was going on. @DarkSwordsman I think your comments on his YouTube page presented a reasonable argument and was well-spoken. IMO, it seems like this individual is trying to extrapolate a self-theory based on nothing, is misconstruing information and facts, and is using Linus and the LTT reputation as a means to boost his view and subscriber count. I have used both VPN's (even before LTT made this change) and have noted better performance and consistency/availability with PIA as opposed to TunnelBear, and am appreciative of the pricing options. Unless there is a development in the future that concretely proves otherwise (which I find doubtful) I continue to trust Linus and his company for technology-related products and information.
