  1. i already do that. i buy old computer systems with things such as core i5 2600's in and buy lower end gpus then flip them for a slightly higher price, ism not to fussed with profit margins as i do have a second job but computers are my passion so finding a luttle workshop just to store things and have a place people can go to for repairs or to get a pc built is a dream of mine due to being in foster care and my parents passing away i lack "mainstream knowledge" so am unable to get much more than gcse equivalents in college. which is why i want to prove what im capable of.
  2. most of this i know of, and im not really looking into profile margins or anything like that. i just love computer systems as a whole and wont to share that knowledge with the community. i already have a job at a local bakery which earns a reasonable pay for under 18's but my passion is with computers even if its say £20 profit per computer thats enough to keep me motivated.
  3. i would stick with the 3200, as much as 3600 would help tgeres not really any point to go through the hastle just to save a few seconds on render time. and as you said theres not much headroom for overclocking so youre pretty much stuck at base speeds. at the end of the day its down to your chpice alone but i would save yourself the hastle and stick with 3200
  4. long time no see ? hope you're doing amazing! we have to catch up on how your oveclocking is going and how you are doing at you're job ?

  5. hey! so i recently had an idea to set up a conputer repair/building workshop in my local community and thought id get some advice to get started. there's one computer shop in my town and its pretty much run by the least tech knowhow people you could imagine, the youngest employee is 43 and when you ask for a pc the show you amazon prebuilts. i would like to set up a place where i can make custom rigs and share my knowledge of computers with the community. yes i am only 17 but i have the motovation to drive myself past what i think im capable of. if anyone has any advice on what i should do or where to find cheap but good quality parts that would be greatly appreciated.
  6. the power supply is 750 bronze? it should be good im pretty sure. the aurus master is higher priced so would most likely go over my budget and you really dont need a £100+ power supply yes its better but not needed you can run an i9 9900k on a £10 cooler if you really wanted it would thermal throttle a lot though. the cooler im using ive used before so im pretty sure it should be fine. thanks for the advice though!

oh nice i use ubuntu due to the coding side of things on my laptop as i find it really useful to have multiple different workspaces with the click of a button which you cant do on windows but when i upgrade as this laptop is incapable of anything above 60fps csgo on low and light editing i will hopefully get the i9 at a stable 5ghz and if cooling is good and silicon lottery works in my favour ill try push it higher as my i5 got 5.1 but 5.2 made it a bit unstable (using windows)
  8. ooo i look the look of that build only issue is the ram ive been using 16 gb for a while and it really limits what i can do render/graphics wise
  9. i looked into ryzen but some programs i use benefit from higher clockspeed. with ryzen ive made a threadripper build and Ryzen 7 2700x one but ive only ever used intel so have no experience with how ryzen performs in programs i use as i know it has issues with vegas pro

ay seoz long time no talking And yeah i would buy a tube of thermal grizzly as even if it doesnt fix other issues it should help with temps anyway. My pc recently got broken due to my foster brother deciding it would be a good idea to just pull the gpu out and rip the pcie socket with it. so im fully upgrading to an i9 9900k, 2080ti due to my graphics and rendering taking up tons of resources its really needed. im sticking to the white theme of your pc though hopefully =p i fell in love with it as you know cos i based my last pc off it
  12. fair, other than that is it a reasonable parts list? or would i be able to get more performance for the same price? (rendering, gaming)

  14. fair point lmao ive been thinking about this over night and will sent the parts list i made in a few minutes as i want second opinions so i dont end up wastinga load of money on parts that are not the best
  15. i love the look of that parts list just questioning some parts. with the cooler if i went for a slightly lower priced one and say an nzxt 500/500i would it make sense to get 64gb of ram instead of 32?
  16. also now questioning if i should get an i9 9900k instead due to some apps being able to benefit from integrated graphics+cpu+gpu rendering
  17. yes but there comes a point of deminishing returns. crossfire is loosing supported programs and has a lot higher power draw so would require a bigger psu. yes i wont deny the radeon is a well performing card but from experience of owning both amd and nvidia cards nvidia is more optimised for programs. i would have to have parts lists that i can compare with benchmarks though to see what would be best for my specific workloads but im not the best at compatibility when it comes to parts lists.
  18. havent watched all the way through yet but in the first 2 benchmark results rtx 2080ti is equal to the radeon and in the second its faster for youtube encoding. ill keep watching thanks for the link
  19. yes it would, but keep in mind that comes out in september. my current pc has broken so looking to buy it in august latest. the rtx 2080ti im pretty sure will have a better render speed (i may be mistaken just basing this off my friends rig) and would allow me to game with better performance.
  20. Thats what i was thinking but im only good at creating parts lists never knowing if its compatable eg i was thinking ryzen 9, rtx 2080ti and stuff but then that eliminates the price for a monitor
  21. at the moment i have a 1920x1080 monitor which isnt the best so if its not to bad of a performance impact a new monitor would be a happy adition, rgb i dont care, colour scheme white preferably but i dont really mind the case or anything just want raw performance and not to bothered about the looks as long as it isnt a really horrific case then im fine with whatever.
  22. Hey! so i have a budget of £2000-£2200 to spend on a new pc BUT im stuck between what to get. I want to do render work and graphics design but keep re-thinking my decisions. With the new release of ryzen im planning on getting the ryzen 9 3900x for £390 msrp if im not mistaken but the motherboards i dont know the prices of. the applications i use (blender, vegas pro, davinci resolve, games and a custom render program by one of my close mates that takes advantage of multi-gpu rendering) thats where im stuck multi gpu or not. if anyone could help create a parts list that would be amazing. i would prefer 32gb of ram but 16gb is ok if it means better render performance. thanks in advance
  23. so i havent been on the forums in a while due to my pc being broken by my foster brother, now i have 2 choices either, get a gaming laptop which i could use for the portability with schoolwork and graphics and still be able to game or build a gaming pc which isnt as portable but has more power which is what im stuck at a laptop with such power would be so useful but then an even more powerful pc would be amazing to, current pc parts list PCPartPicker part list: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/G6n3YT Price breakdown by merchant: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/G6n3YT/by_merchant/ CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (£144.97 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (£116.95 @ AWD-IT) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£83.99 @ CCL Computers) Video Card: Asus - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB STRIX GAMING Advanced Video Card (£401.39 @ Overclockers.co.uk) Case: Thermaltake - V200 Tempered Glass RGB Edition ATX Mid Tower Case (£57.44 @ Ebuyer) Total: £804.74 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-03-24 05:05 GMT+0000 i have the ssd, hdd and psu already but could use the ssd to upgrade the laptop and sell the psu if i dont get a pc but need your help on what to pick
  24. so i havent been on the forums for a while, the reason for that is due to my custom pc getting broken by my foster brother and now im wondering on what to do. i currently have a lenovo yoga laptop which i use for schoolwork but can hardly run simple games such as minecraft without getting over 30 fps all settings minimum, so im going to upgrade as i do graphics and gaming on top of school work but i do not know whether to buy a laptop or build a desktop. my budget is £800 maybe £1000 if i wait a little longer, i know building pcs is cheaper but a laptops portability would be useful so i do not know what to do and have come to you guys for recommendations. a laptop i could use for when im out an about for school work and on the go graphics work and game when plugged in at home, but a pc i could get better performance for the same price. would you get a laptop or pc? (i live near a locale electronic second hand shop so i can get gaming laptops slightly cheaper eg MSI GE62VR-7RF for £810) thanks for the help
  25. I can't my phone camera is broken but I think it might be the mbr because it boots fine in bios and to the windows logo but past that if you get into recovery without a blue screen it you can't reset so I don't know as ill lose a lot of data but would it be a good idea to try a fresh install of windows?
