random brain storm right now but what would be better

r7 1700

or i5 8600k

with a gtx 1060 6gb? 

i want to do video editing and gaming and dont know what one would be better i already have an i5 8600k but was wondering if it would be worth getting a r7 1700

    If you already have i5 8600k then there is no reason to get a r7 1700. Yes it has 2 more cores, but it is 3.8-3.9ghz instead of 5ghz when overclocked, so the gain is minimal. If you want to boost video render times either get the threadripper 1920x, or wait for ryzen 7nm in q1 2019.
