Hi, So I was playing some CoD:BOCW tonight when suddenly my laptop's power supply made a decently loud crack sound, followed by my laptop violently turning off. I tried turning it on again (both on battery and plugged in to different outlets around the house) and got no luck. When plugged in, the laptop's charging LED doesn't even turn on, which makes me think that it is actually fried. On the other hand, when I plug in the cable that connects to the outlet and try to plug it into the brick (the cable can be separated, as often in laptops) light cracks can be heard, as if the cable and brick were shorting. Is there a way that my power brick may have come defective and may have fried my whole laptop? I bough this computer a month ago, so I'm still in warranty both for BestBuy (bought in Miami, reside in Mexico so it may be complicated) and for Asus, so I will surely contact them, just wanted to know your opinion. Thanks for your time and hope your holidays are going better than mine so far.

I was actually checking those out and really convinced me (specially the NR400), but then I came across the MSI GPU being absurdly long, so it wont really fit...

It really is, Im having a though time choosing a mATX case. I really want a compact one, preferably no dual chamber (the H400i was really a great size, yet too expensive for me) Any suggestions?

Actually this is great, since i've heard about CAM being a bit buggy. I looked into the Cooler Master ML240P Mirage, and it looks great plus is compatible with mystic light, furthermore I could use another case (since the H400i is a bit too expensive IMO). Thanks!

Mostly, I tried to choose components that can be controlled through the same software. I chose MSI because i've heard this mobo is great and has WiFi, consequently, I chose a MSI GPU and RAM which is compatible with Mystic light.

Other details: whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): The system I previously planned includes: Ryzen 7 5800X (or R9 3900X?), NZXT Kraken X63, MSI MAG B550M Mortar WIFI mATX, G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB @ 3600MHz CL16, Samsung 970 Evo Plus (or non Plus?) 1TB M.2 SSD, 2TB HDD, MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio, NZXT H400i mATX and NZXT C850 Gold PSU. As seen previously, I want a mATX build since my student's room desk is quite desk limited, and I honestly prefer their form factor. Also, I am trying to use the least amount of brands possible so the RGB software isn't a nightmare (In my build idea im only using MSI Mystic and NZXT CAM). NO peripherals are required, NO monitor is required. I will be playing at 1440p 144Hz. This build is planned for Q1-Q2 of 2021, not sure yet. Thanks for your time!

This build seems really nice TBH, I will wait for something like the R7 5700X for a build like this. I just have some doubts regards this build: Isn't a 360mm AIO a bit too much? For the OC I plan to do (if I do) I believe the 240mm from the capellix would be enough. Also, new i've heard new RTX cards support PCIe 4.0, so wouldn't a X570 board make more sense? Something like the X570 Aorus elite. Those 32GB would actually be extremely useful for my necessities, but for ryzen maybe 3600MHz? Other than that I believe this could be it!

Will definitely look into that, hope these new Ryzen processors beat 10th Gen Intel, since I really prefer AMD over Intel nowadays. Will these new CPUs launch a new chipset? X670 for example? Since I might go for X570 if not for the PCIe Gen 4. Furthermore, the true reason I planned to change my whole system is because I will be moving from Mexico to Canada, and moving pc parts is very risky (they're treated extremely roughly) but also expensive (needing to pay additional taxes as well as separate shipping), so big parts such as motherboards, AIOs and PSUs would be better to buy new.

That actually sounds reasonable, is there a release date for these CPUs? I've always preferred AMD but lately 10th Gen seems to have the lead.

Oh ok I get it now, thought the ethernet to wifi adapter was meant to be connected to an ethernet cable coming from the router, just like a WiFi extensor. Ok so this seems like a great option tbh, is there any connection loss I could suffer from this solution? Like compared to M.2, PCIE or USB, is there one better than another towards stability or speed? I really want to maintain both my gaming experience and software cloud management/downloads stable at all times.

This option seems solid, however, as I mentioned, I have my GPU Vertically mounted, meaning I have no spare PCI-E slots to connect this adapter. I guess I could cut the metal support bar and probably would be able to connect it on a PCI-E in the board without the card being in the way, yet I'm not sure if it would fit and the antennas would be a bit of a pain to connect...

My MoBo has 7 USB ports and I am actually using all of them, I might be able to use the case USB ports, yet I tend to use them for external hard drives quite often so USB is still an IDK for me. On the other hand, I'm not sure how I would be able to use an Ethernet to Wi-Fi adapter considering my room won't have an ethernet connection, just Wi-Fi.

Hello! So later this year I will be moving to my student residence which happens to not have an ethernet port, just high speed wifi. My motherboard (Asus X470-F Strix) happens to not have a built in Wifi antenna, so I need a solution for this. I have thought about PCI-E antennas, yet I am not sure if they will fit considering I have a vertically mounted GPU (Cooler Master Vertical mount in a Lian-Li 011 Dynamic), I've also thought on USB adapters, however, I've read about their not so good reliability, as well as the fact that it takes up a whole USB port, which I would really need. The last option would be a M.2 Wifi card, which seems to me as the best option so far, they are cheap and they are small, would this be it? Please share with me which would you consider to be the best solution for this situation, thanks for your time!

I've considered it, and actually have a decent CPU, MoBo, RAM, Cooler and PSU laying around, but I'm prefer selling them, to get some extra money to upgrade my main system, since I don't really found a use for a second PC.

I'm honestly on the nvidia side too, had had 3 nvidia GPUS so far, so I may just stick to them. Also, for sure will do that overclocking research, I've always thought that OC'ing is something extremely interesting and pontentially fun to do, and I've always wanted to learn the basics and a bit more of it, instead of just researching the CPUs common OC configs, I'd prefer finding them myself.

True, but by planning it I mean more of a budget plan, start allocating money for future upgrades. At this moment, I use my pc for some normal gaming and basic rendering (which the GTX 970 has handled extremely well not sure how), but next year when I will start rendering every single day, and potentially 1440p gaming, I'll need the update.

Which GPU would you recommend me? Waiting for RTX 3000? RTX 2070 Super, or 2080? Not really sure of RX cards since they lack that Ray Tracing which is crucial for 3D rendering and modelling. Also, I believe my RAM is enough so far, yet may have to upgrade in future situations when running several software at a time. Also, are there any OC'ing guides you would recommend me for my CPU? Will be a slight overclock, kinda afraid to go crazy on that.

Got it, will OC that CPU, just got my water cooler so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm not in full need of an upgrade right now, but for uni next year will for sure be, that's why i'm taking the time to calmly plan this. Which GPU would you recommend me? I know Quadros are the best for CADD and rendering, but newer RTX cards are great as far as I know, as well as cheaper and better for gaming, which still matters to me.

True, upgrading every year is not worth it, will grab some good R 4000 in a future. Also, If I'm getting my GPU around october-november 2020, should I wait to see if the new RX (if there are any) compares to the RTX 3000 if they launch?
