Wifi extender or access point, however I'm not sure how well it would play with Xfinity's router. Or, buy a bunch of ethernet cabling.

Not bad, few things. First of all, get 16 gb of ram, no question about it. I'm not too fond of the case since it won't have great air flow, shouldn't be the end of the world though. And just so you know, the cpu has a cooler included that will handle it just fine, (wraith cooler), so no need for the cpu cooler.

This or a GTX 1060. No point in pairing anything more powerful than that with the 2600k. 

5600X performs beautifully with the stock cooler imo, and if you dont OC you dont need that much more than that. But if you insist, something by the likes of Noctua NH-U12S (or its 140mm brother, NH-U14S) is going to perform well. If youre a silent freak, go for the Bequiet Dark Rock series.

As pointed out by @davemc:
Not only would you be overpaying for Ryzen 5 3600, you would also be paying near MSRP for an older generation CPU. I would recommend i5-11600K but don't go higher with i7 or i9 for this generation.
RAM
Looks fine and is rather future-proof, but if you end up with Intel you may always decide to go with cheaper modules. (I got 32GB DDR4 2666MHz for around CAD $120 so there definitely is room to save your money on, but it depends)
Motherboard
Would have to be switched if you go with Intel.
Storage
Depending on your game library or application, you might want extra storage
PSU
Wattage is likely not enough, or at risk of being not enough if you are going for GPUs around the same price point.
GPU
As pointed out by @DotzHyper:
GTX 1080Ti is not bad but should only be considered if you are buying pre-owned and not paying MSRP, try to go with more recent generations of GPUs. I would recommend RTX 3070 or 3060Ti, but in fact any recommendation regarding GPU is pretty unrealistic at the moment. (addressed at the end)
OS
You should not pay this much for Windows 10. You could try hiring a builder for you that would include it for cheaper.
Display
I would honestly recommend you go with 1440p for a new setup in this era, not a lot of extra stress on the GPU for a much better experience.
 
At this point in time (with the chip shortage), you should start with the GPU; I would even recommend you first get your hands on a GPU (literally having it in your hands), before you go ahead with the rest of the build; if things go south and you don't end up building it you will likely not even lose money reselling your GPU.

cinebench and 3dmark were fine. they never went much over 55% ram usage though. I Think that csgo is working because it doesnt take much ram

ill do both in a second. forza didnt work. it crashed at the point where i was about to go on the road into the real world (when the ram is actually needed). let me run cinebench and 3dm now

Just buy a dirt cheap key on ebay for less than $10. They work without any issues(in my experience from buying a few) and even if they did not, paypal got your back.

try shorting it, a lot of the time it's just a matter of not putting the front panel connectors in the right place.

Look for cases honestly just go with what looks good in ur eye. One quick google search if it had issues cooling but most cases are nearly tbe sane, and 5* on a big change wont kill a system. So if u like it, absolutely

That is very aggressive and if you just got it it will die in like a year. Either way that is very aggressive and I wouldn't recommend that OC whether u can cool it or not.
