It's going to be unfortunate that there are so many useful posts on Reddit that will be/already gone.

For the love of god, I hope you have a backup. 4 HDDs in Raid 0 is not a great idea. If one of the drivers craps the bed, you loose everything.

Tickletehpickle reacted to Eigenvektor in How to Network thjs?
Sure, but that means your server now needs three ethernet ports, one Gigabit, two 10G. Each client machine needs to NICs as well.
Those dedicated connections will need their own IPs and you'll need to use these IPs to connect from the clients.
It would probably be easier/cheaper to set up to use 10G for everything and only have a single connection for all machines m

Tickletehpickle got a reaction from BRYVZEE in DUAL WAN - FIBER AND 5G - HELP
I had a similar set up, but instead I have mine configured as VDSL and Starlink set up in load balancing mode using PFsense. An old computer running PF/OPNSense would work in your use case.

I'd do it the same way I name all my documents and pictures. I slam down on my keyboard until the filename isn't already took.

LOLOLOLOOOOOOOOOOL OMG... dude... I can't believe I was not powering the CPU.... as you can see, one of the H100i v2 fans blocks the CPU ATX v12.... You can definitely say I am a n00b..

Tickletehpickle reacted to corrado33 in Why do people pay to be at the bleeding edge for a non-esports gaming computer?
I don't get it. Intel launches their new 7### series and this site is FLOODED with "Where can I buy i7-7###k" or "i7-7### vs i5-7###" or "7### vs 6###".
Not more than a week ago all of those 7s were replaced with 6s. Why pay the premium for a GAMING machine? Is your gaming significantly hindered by those 2-3 fps less? Is the game more "fun" with those 2-3 fps more?
Now, if you play competitive e-sports, I could see some sort of justification, but the vast majority of people don't. It doesn't make sense.
I mean, everyone is pumped for AMDs new products, but is the performance increase (if there is one) worth it? A properly built gaming rig could easily last you at least 3 years, still playing at max or close to max settings on most new games. Much more if you upgrade the GPU down the line somewhere.
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I just can't understand.

OMG, those people... It drives me nuts. 'Intel just released a new CPU that's 8% faster per clock. Should I pour gasoline on my old PC, burn it and buy the new one!? That could get me 5 more frames in my favorite game. I think I might die without those extra frames!'

Tickletehpickle reacted to skywake in Quick question about usb wifi adapters
@Jutsu
You haven't really given much information. So here are some questions you need to answer before anyone can be of much help:
1. What adaptor do you currently have? Is it N? AC? G!? ... Dual Band? What speed?
2. What access point (or router) are you connecting to?
3. How far away from the AP are you? Are you in the next room or are you 20m and 5 concrete walls away?
4. How are you measuring this speed and what speed are you getting? Is it an internet speedtest? If so how fast are your uploads when you use a cable?
Then from there here's the advice I'd give:
1. If there is no major gap between your speed and the cable speed? Call your ISP
2. If there is a major gap and the issue is the speed of your AP/Router/Card? Get a new AP/Router/Card
3. If it's clear that the issue has nothing to do with the gear or your ISP? Buy a powerline kit

no dont get that get a 6600K and a RX 470 or something, will make your life better if you dont happen to already have the 6700K in which case still dont get the 750TI because it dosent hold up in recent games anymore
*edit*
yes, the 750TI will be a huge bottleneck in this system
