  1. But why would making it UEFI-only cause a newer card to not display anything? Why did my RX 460 work with CSM disabled?
  2. I just got an RX 580 to replace my RX 460 (the fan broke ) and I am having a weird issue with the new card. With the RX 580 installed, the system powers on but shows nothing on the screen. No motherboard logo, no Windows loading, but... then Windows actually loads and everything works! I reset the BIOS, by pulling the CMOS battery, and then when I rebooted, I did get a picture on the screen during boot up. It seems that with CSM disabled, I do not get anything on the screen during boot. With with CSM enabled, then I do. I've searched around and I've seen things like "update your GPU's BIOS". It says "UEFI" in GPU-Z, and oddly enough the RX 460 didn't have this issue and worked fine with CSM disabled or not. Is there an issue with my RX 580 and do I need to RMA it? Is there a way to update the GPU's BIOS without bricking anything? Should I just leave CSM enabled even though I don't need it on? PC Specs: ASRock B450M Pro4 Ryzen 7 2700 32GB G.Skill DDR4-3200 XFX RX 580 GTS Black Core Edition 8GB
  3. Thanks! I looked into that, and it looks like I need to add money to my "roaming balance". I did that, and now I can spend $0.06/min to make calls (and $0.02/text)! ?
  4. Cool! Yeah I can totally help you out. We'll just have to pick somewhere to meet up and make sure we can identify each other. I will have access to my phone, just trying to keep it low due to high "roaming" costs. Send me a PM and I can give you my number and stuff :-D
  5. Is it worth the extra few bucks to get the 2600x over the 2600? Or is the even more extra worth it to get the 2700 (over the 3600)? I'm probably gonna get the R5 2600, but I'm still arguing with myself over what I should do >.>
  6. I didn't really consider going to an older gen Ryzen like the 1600. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into what those guys cost. I do eventually want to upgrade from the RX 460, but since I already have it, I'll keep using it for now.
  7. I already have a B450 board, since I was able to get it for cheap (+rebate). According to ASRock, the board should support the 3600. My thought was to get a 2600, as that should probably be fine, but I just wondering what people thought, and if I should buy now or wait if/for prices to drop...
  8. So, since AMD dropped their crazy new Zen2 chips, I assume prices will drop on the "old" Zen+ line. I'm in the process of building a new gaming computer, and I'm debating what processor to get. My current machine uses an Intel Xeon E5450 (basically a Core 2 Quad Q9650), 8GB DDR2 and an AMD Radeon RX 460. So, basically whatever chip I decide to buy will be an upgrade and stop bottle-necking the GPU (right?). I'm not sure what I should. Do I get a Ryzen 5 2600 for like $140? Spend a bit more to get a Ryzen 5 2600x for $160? Or drop $200 on the new Ryzen 5 3600? Or spend that same $200 on a Ryzen 7 2700? What CPU would you suggest I get? Or should I keep waiting and see if the 2600 or 2700 drop in price even more?
  9. I am going to the 7/26 1:00pm LMG office tour, and since I'll have a rental car I'll have seats to give other people a ride there. My hotel is in between the convention center and the LMG office, about a half hour from my hotel to each one. So, if anyone is going on the same tour and would like a ride, let me know. Just FYI, I'm coming from the US and my phone probably won't have service in Canada, but I'm sure I can find WiFi at a Tim's or something EDIT: I added money to my "roaming balance" to use my phone in Canada, thanks guys for suggesting I look into that. EDIT 2: I have @Kolbykheese(+1) joining me in my car, so I think we're all good here
  10. That's what I did too. I saw an open timeslot and grabbed it. Maybe you can trade with someone?
  11. Keep trying. Try a different browser. You'll get a tour
  12. THEY JUST DID! GO CHECK! MORE TOURS AVAILABLE!
  13. THERE ARE MORE TOURS AVAILABLE!!!! EVERYONE GO GET ONE!!!!
  14. I missed getting a VIP ticket or a tour I had to answer a stupid reCAPTCHA and then it told me to refresh the page and when I did they were gone. WTF Tixr, that's not nice.
  15. I tried to get a VIP ticket right as they were available, but when I clicked "buy" I saw an error telling me to refresh. When I did that, I noticed they were sold out, but it said "2 left". So, then I tried to get a tour, and when I clicked "buy" I saw an error telling me to refresh. When I did that, I noticed they were sold out, but it said "5 left". I don't know if it was because I took too long answering the stupid reCAPTCHA (having to click on pictures of cars or whatever). Are you going to offer more VIP and/or tour tickets? I'm sad that I was not able to get one.
  16. Do any of the packages contain any Floatplane subscriptions? I remember last year I got 6 months of LTT on Floatplane for buying the "delidded" ticket.
  17. Is the VIP event/dinner going to include the other Youtubers at LTX? 'cuz it would be awesome to be able to hang with those guys too, as well as the LMG team!
  18. Got a package from Madrinas coffee today! The bag looks great and now I have a sticker of a bunch of Linus' faces to do with as I please! I can't wait to brew some of this up and see how it tastes.
  19. I am creating a computer (on the cheap) to use as a media/file server. This is replacing my current "server" which is a Dell Dimension 8300 (a Pentium 4 machine). I searched eBay for parts to make a machine as cheap a I could. I knew wanted to use an AM3 or AM3+ CPU, so I got myself an ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 for a pretty good price. For a CPU, I picked an AMD Opteron 1389. It's an AM3 CPU and only cost me $15. Checking the CPU compatibility list at https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/HelpDesk_CPU, I didn't see this chip listed (I see other Opteron chips which I cannot find on eBay) but I see other similar Athlon II X4 and Phenom II X4 chips. Anyway, I tried the Opteron 1389 and the system would not POST, I got POST code 62. Unless this is a RAM issue, I think it's the CPU (I'm using DDR3-1333 RAM). I found an AMD FX-4100 for like $20, so I can get that to make sure the system boots and is on the latest BIOS. But, my question is there a way to mod/update the BIOS to support "unsupported" chips? There's an Opteron 3365 that I was considering "upgrading" to, is there a chance that will work? The 3365 is at least an AM3+ CPU.
  20. I got an email from CableMod today with the code in it. So, it seems the LMG team is just a little busy, but it looks like they are getting stuff out.
  21. I waited in line for the case toss, but I didn't wait in any of the other lines (VR, 10k gaming). I did enter the blindfolded cable management challenge and that had a signup! Like you put your name down for a specific time, then came back at that time. That may be a cool idea for the other things with long lines. Have people signup for a specific time (or block of time) and just come back at that time instead of waiting in line. I'm not sure how to make this work, like do you need to wait on a line to sign up? Do it from an app? How can this be done fairly?
  22. The challenge was really fun. I did surprisingly well at plugging in cables without being able to see! It's about feeling where the notches are All my computer cases are opaque, so I'm not sure I really need fancy colored cables... but, I could use some colorful thumbscrews I also could use more colorful ethernet and power cables...
