Yes, they're backwards compatible. There might be some bandwidth limitations if it's a 1x card, but nothing serious.

yes, it just means that the mainboard isnt completely dead. Maybe one of the CPU traces is broken, the LED can still work fine.

Great condition miners GPU is always better than gamer gpu.
Gamer GPU OC the heck out of the card to get extra fps.
Long term stable load is better than short term burst.

    Look for :
    - Working fans and working variable speed.
    - Cleanliness, no burning traces.
    - Normal temperature (not above 90c)

3DMark has stress testing facilities which are separate from benchmarking. Just open the 3DMark program and you'll be able to run the GPU stress tests.

rnhbs reacted to an actual squirrel in Audio is muffly when balance is 100 on 1&2
Well, maybe something is physically preventing a good connection from happening. Also, maybe that internal cable to the front panel of the case has the wiring mixed up. You can rule out one of these by testing with another pair of headphones.  If the audio is normal with different headphones, then it was probably an issue with the jack not getting a good connection. If the audio is still messed up, I think the wiring is mixed up on the case cable.

rnhbs reacted to Spuriae in Audio is muffly when balance is 100 on 1&2
Possibly. If pulling the channel balance over to one side or the other sounds normal but playing both only produces the "edges" (the difference between channels), that means the channels are referencing each other instead of ground.

This could be a bad jack, the front panel audio connector not being plugged in properly to the motherboard, a problem with the headphones, or a problem on the motherboard.

Check the GPU, make sure cables are in place, check if the ram is fully clicked in, make sure they are in the right slots, check your monitor. there are many things that could e wrong here, if there are integrated graphics try those and see if its the GPU. as stupid as it may seem, also check your monitor input, its happened before where it was actually just the input on the monitor and I thought I had to rebuild my pc.

Clean the RAM pins with a pencil eraser, put them back without touching the pins with your hands

Reseat the ram again.  Sometimes you need to put a little bit of muscle to get the ram into desktop mobos ram slots.  Assuming this is for your ASUS TUF PLUS-GAMING B450M and not some laptop.
If that doesn't work, try just one stick at a time to narrow down if 1 stick is causing a problem as a static discharge could have killed one.

If that doesn't work...make sure your monitor is plugged in.

-stickers, leds or buy some cheap stickon material with a pattern, similar to dbrand skins, you can buy rolls of fake carbon fiber for cars on wish, however be careful as the heat in the pc could make sticky substances melt or be less effective
-maybe even go to an arts and crafts store and see what they have, let your creativity take over you
-lots of people put toy figurines on top of their shrouds
    -mirrors
-crumpled aluminium foil (as long as its not touching any components)
    -wood

just go to your local hardware store and buy whatever the cheapest thin metal is and bend it and attach it to your case with screws or even rivests, if youre real struggle though, cardboard with some black spray paint + sticky tape

I'm assuming you mean 6+2 cable? Yes. Just make sure you replace it with a cable that is compatible with your particular model of PSU - NOT ALL CABLES ARE THE SAME!
You can check the PSU manufacturers website to see if they sell replacement cables, or try custom cables from the likes of Cablemod (and others).

rnhbs reacted to mariushm in Can I use second Pcie slot?
    The second pci-e x16 slot is connected to the chipset and it's only x4 electrically (pci-e 2.0 x4, maximum 4 x 500 MB/s = 2 GB/s) ... compared to pci-e 3.0 x16 which has a bandwidth of 16 x 970 MB/s

The page basically says if you have a single card, you should put it in the first pci-e x16 slot. If you have two cards, the second card would run at x4 speeds, so you can't use SLI because nvidia wants at least x8 slots electrically. Crossfire would work but performance would kind of suck, due to slot being only pci-e 2.0 x4.

If you use a processor with integrated graphics, like Ryzen 3 2200g, then the first pci-e slot would only run at x8 electrically instead of x16. It would still be much faster than the 2nd slot.

@rnhbs If you have a local electronics repair shop maybe ask them for the solder work, some smaller shops can do that quickly and cheap, I once cut my front IO cables by accident and it took some minutes to get it soldered back together for "just" 5€ which I was quiet comfortable with.

Yo dawg, I heard you like watercooling, so I watercooled your cooler

Jokes aside, only 280mm and 360mm AIOs are worth buying. 120mm are far too niche (either ITX builds or used on video cards), 240mm AIOs don't perform better than high end tower coolers.

And then take in account the lower reliability, more noise, more cable mess...
    Nah.

Like others have said, dont have any metal touch any components directly (Wires are fine). But that seems unlikely to me if you do a clean job anyway.
