    The G4560 and i5 8500 don't run on the same motherboards, so you couldn't upgrade that PC without changing out the motherboard.
    Alternatives to the 8500 would be the i5 7600(K), 7500 or if you are willing to go second hand you might find an i7 7700(K) for decent prices.
     
    These CPU's I mentioned support up to 2400Mhz but will work fine with 2133Mhz memory too.

    coming off what I would assume to be a laptop power adapter it would be a proprietary din connector. what is it for?
