  1. What you have then is a modem/router/wireless access point. Combo
  2. Youd think after him winning RMRW and ls fest with Leroy theyd step up...maybe if he can get some big boy race wins with mullet next year if that ever happens
  3. First time news poster here so sorry in advance if i get this wrong. Just ran across this on wccftech(I know, I know) large amounts of salt and whatnot. Apparently the new zen3 architecture from AMD is rumored to have SMT4 (4 threads per core) as stated by the article here, https://wccftech.com/rumor-amd-zen-3-architecture-to-support-up-to-4-threads-per-core-with-smt4-feature/ Which after digging into the wccftech article they are getting their info from a German website Hardwareluxx- https://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.php/news/hardware/prozessoren/50914-geruechtekueche-zen-3-mit-smt4-und-neue-navi-und-turing-einsteigerkarten.html The article says- While I can't say I know very much about micro architecture or if this has any plausibility or possiblity anytime soon, to me it seems like might be the next new "core wars" beginnings?
  4. I have 4 MTA's. Windows Operating System Fundamentals, Networking Fundamentals, Security Fundamentals, Windows Server Administration Fundamentals. I didn't think any of them were very hard. Only about 35 questions or so. I am about done with my associate courses in college and have messed with computers off and on my whole life so that's all the experience I have. I got lucky and landed a job in my town that I'm the "IT Guy" for out small town. I plan on getting my Comptia net+ and Sec+ this year at some point and then go for some cisco certs. MTA's aren't bad at all. Comptia tests have a time limit of 90 minutes. Comptia A+ is seen as a "bench tech" geek squad kind of cert and then the ones that start to matter for like net or sys admins are net+ on up being the next hardest.
  5. I'm not sure how many people already know about this, but for one of my classes I'm taking is going to have us use this to set up a small virtual network. It can follow everything down to routing protocols and even assign VM's and configure them. I haven't messed with it much yet but it seems pretty cool. Just thought I'd share. https://www.gns3.com/software
  6. Had a late 30's dude bring in an alienware desktop(pretty badass machine) to a store I use to work at. Had problems with it booting up and turning off. The aio was clogged full of dirt and the cpu was overheating. Anyway got it booted up and it brought back up his internet browser and all the tabs recovered.....furries...furries everywhere, even some...non clothed ones, scarred for life.
  7. Freenas or a linux distro would be good. I have my server with an i3 and 8gb ram and a boot ssd with a few TB of storage. Works fine for me. I also got server16 free from my school so I used that. Yes putting in a pcie 1Gb nic should solve your problem granted you either have a 1Gb switch in between them or the switch side of your router is 1Gb. And your running cat6 cables.
  8. I was gonna say you could've tried windirstat and see if that would've should you.
  9. That's weird. I get issues like that with edge sometimes. As soon as I close it my stuttering stops. Although the only reason I use it is that I've heard that edge supports 1080p and chrome/firefox is only 720p...not sure about the validity of that though...
  10. I got the same notification yesterday as well. Source was from Iran(I live in the states) went to ubisoft my self( never follow the email link to change password if you didnt ask for the email to be sent)from the web browser and just changed my password.
  11. i'm using handbrake to encode down to an h.264 format, but I've also heard people using h.265? Not sure what the difference is. If I don't want to wait for my i3 to encode it I'll pull it over to my main rig with a 7700k(oc's to 4.8) and use it, but it still takes a few hours(unless that's normal). As far as I can tell I'm using what I'm suppose for settings but I am hoping for someone that encodes alot to provide some input or screen shots. For now I have 2 500GB HDD in RAID 0 for storage but I want to upgrade to 3-4 1TBHDD and put them in raid 5.
  12. I think I'm gonna do that. I can get one from an old place of employment for about 100$ which as far as I can tell is a decent deal. Still wondering about the plex settings though.
  13. So lately I've been ripping some blurays to my server for plex. I3 2120, 8gb ram and an ati 6600 gpu(for shits and giggles more or less) my problem is when I try to encode them down to like h.264 it literally takes it 14 hrs for one movie. I have 3 questions. First is, are there different settings I can choose to speed up this process. Second, should I just upgrade the processor to like a 4790? Or is there something decent in the 1155 socket that's better than the 2120? I know I'd have to get a new mobo. My ram seems fine if I can stay in the ddr3 family. Thrid, What plex settings do you guys use when encoding down for no visual loss? I've looked at multiple sites and they all say varied things. What have you used with the best luck? Thanks all.
  14. Probably due to how much market share windows 7 still had/has. To use directx 12 you need windows 10 to run it. Game makers would alienate a lot of players that want to hang on to win7.
