  1. I wouldn't be too worried about your specific RAM not being on the QVL. It just means the Asus has not gotten a copy of that particular type of RAM and actually tested compatibility. Many companies do not perform as robust testing on their lower spec motherboards as they do with their expensive boards. One thing that you want to know is that neither B550 and X570 Asus boards support display port in the BIOS. You will need to plug your monitor into the HDMI port on your GPU for your first boot until you install the operating system (you also have to do this every time you update the CPU). For some reason these ASUS boards will not POST if you have the monitor plugged into display port on first boot (subsequent boot is fine though). Even worse is that the color error code is the same for a RAM error. However, if you have a QR code display, the error code is different. I mention this because you may misdiagnose a display error with a RAM error.
  2. I have a new Yamaha MG10XU with an extremely simple setup and I have 2 problems with it. I have 1 microphone run into the channel 1 in, connect via USB to my computer for output, and use the headphone monitor output to monitor what I am recording. My fist problem is that I cannot get the board effects to output through the USB. I properly select the effect I want, turn the FX button on, set the master FX RTN nob to the triangle, set the channel FX nob to the triangle, and set the parameter nob in the middle. I can hear the effects being applied in my headphones, but I cannot hear the effects in my recordings on the computer. I did plug a speaker into the stereo out and I am able to hear the effects through my speaker as well, but not on my computer. My second problem is that the sound through the USB is MUCH quieter than the output coming through the stereo out or my headphones. I set the gain to 9 (just above the noise floor, set the master stereo level to max, and set the channel level to max, but the sound through my USB is extremely quiet. I tried recording in Windows recorder and in Adobe Audition, but it is quiet in both locations. I am not using a cloudlifter, but am considering getting one. My voice is BOOMING in the standard stereo out, but quite in the USB output. My microphone is a Shure SM7B. I updated to driver version 2.0.4 in an attempt to fix the issue before posting to this forum. I am not using any COMP and I have left all the EQs flat while trying to figure out the issue. I have the PAD and HPE turned off on the line and the phantom 48 volts turned off.
  3. The motherboard in my daily driver PC went kaput. I have a temp motherboard while I am awaiting the RMA. I transferred all of my other components onto the temp board, which is a MSI B550 gaming plus. I am attempting to boot off of a Samsung 970 evo. The BIOS detects taht the drive is installed, but it will not allow me to select it a a boot option. The drive already has Windows installed on it. It transferred the drive to my mom's PC (which I'm building for her Christmas present when I visit her this winter), and was able to boot off it just fine using an ASUS motherboard. However, the MSI board will not let me boot from the M.2 SD. I have a hard drive which I boot from, and I can access files on the 970 Evo when booted from the hard drive. I set the boot mode to UEFI from CSM, but that did nothing. Can someone who is familiar with MSI BIOS help me out? system components are Ryzen 3950X, RTX 3090, G-skill 64 Trident-Z 3600 - 64GB, current hard drive is WD Gold 12 TB. Samsung 970 Evo 2TB is also installed
  4. I'll be continuing to fold, but I'm lucky enough that my power comes with the rent up to a certain point. Not sure if I'll break the max amount and have to pay this month or not, but it will be close.
  5. ohh, we're done already. Thought we were running til the end of tomorrow...
  6. I've already saved up so I can get them around launch day. Will wait for 3rd party cards and water block availability though.
  7. I'm folding with both my GPUs and my CPU. The CPU is using 30 threads and saving 2 threads for the OS and whatever else. Runs quite smooth.
  8. I am right now. Maybe it's because the LTT server has gone online???????
  9. Hmmmmmm. Maybe if we continue to do these challenges we should break things down into "leagues" or "conferences". Separate people into 3 groups.... those running professional hardware like Epyc or Xeon CPUs, Quadro GPUs, and mining farms; HEDT hardware like Threadripper and Titan cards; and people running consumer grade hardware. That would make it so you could "compete" against someone else with more similar resources.
  10. I am using Core-temp to monitor CPU and either MSI afterburner or Asus GPU-Tweak for the GPUs. (The icons are next to each other on the desktop, so which ever I click on first). The GPUs seem to hold between 1950 - 2150 MHz with voltage at max allowed by architecture. GPUs are Strix 1080ti and CPU is a 3950x @ 4.0 all cores.
  11. I got rid of all but 2 of my old GPUs after I finished my doctorate (data analytics). Had 10 running in a mining frame, but sold all but 2, a 980ti and rx570. Have them on an open "test bench" style setup with an 8086K. My actual computer has 2 1080tis and 3950x. Also have my laptop doing what it can with a 1080 max-q and mobile processor. Temps not a problem with the open test bench with OC set at 4.8 all core with tower cooler. Temps get pretty high in the case of my usual rig when everything is 100% even though I'm running with 3 radiators and Noctua fans in push/pull config and 3 fans for the case without a rad. (it is a desk/pc case, so lots of room)
