Just asking as I'm going to get this and an i5-10400 to pair with a 3070/3080 (whichever I can get first). I want to make sure this will be a good enough motherboard to last for a decent amount of time. I'm not looking to really future proof as I expect to upgrade this in like 2-ish years, but want to make sure the two years I use it aren't horrible. Not finding a lot of reviews for it, so I came here to ask. I know motherboards are one of the least important things to worry about in the build, but I just want to make sure it isn't the worst choice.

So I had this thought in my head just a couple hours ago, and I wanted to pass it by some people here on the forums. I have a pretty decent laptop. Its an Asus ROG Zephyrus with a Ryzen Ryzen 7 3750H, and a 1660Ti build in. I was wondering if I could get something like this or this and connect a 3070 (if I can get one lol) to it. Would the 3070 be bottlenecked in anyway? Is this a bad idea in general? I was just thinking of doing this instead of investing more into a desktop, as I have this laptop and I'm doing college from home right now, so my laptop is serving me well and I see no reason to invest in both.

Pretty much the title. I bought an Aorus X570-i Pro Wifi recently for around $220. I didn't think that b450 would support Ryzen 4000, and at the time it was the best board for my money (Pcie Gen 4 and all that crap). Now that we know more about the RTX 30 series and are eventually going to learn more about the Ryzen 4000 cpus. I'm wondering what the cheapest board that I could get that is mITX would be, that still would support Ryzen 4000 cpus.

Nvidia 30 Series unveiled - RTX 3080 2x faster than 2080 for $699
M3talGod2 replied to illegalwater's topic in Graphics Cards
Nah bought it off the subreddit r/hardwareswap. I'm not stressing too much. It's also nuts over there right now, would lose like $100+ on what I paid for it since people are valuing the 2070 super so low right now. -

I'm not sweating it too much, was just a little bit of a sting to see the price of the 3070. Just means I can wait 2+ years for the 40 series and upgrade then. -

Funnily enough, I didn't know. Been out of the pc scene for a while and learned about the new gen coming out about last week, but you are right, it is a good gpu. -

Literally bought a 2070 Super like 3 weeks ago for $475. Could not have been a worse time lol. -
I was originally thinking of getting this: Acer Nitro XV340CK. Is this a good pick? Or are there other ones that are cheaper, that perform the same function? I'm pretty much looking for ultrawide 144hz, would prefer 144op as well, but if the price is right, then I'm good with 1080p. The max I would spend is $500, and that's pushing how much I feel comfortable spending.

I really only intend to do this to get some better airflow out of my H210 sff build before I bought an actual sfx PSU. I didn’t realize sfx Psu’s were that different from a regular one so thanks for the info. Might refrain from doing this just to have an extra, actual working PSU after I upgrade. Lots to think about.

So I recently opened up my old psu (hadn't been powered on for at least a year+ if anyone was worrying about safety) and realized that there was a ton of space between the actual pcb and the rest of the case to shrink it. I was wondering if I, cut the area that was unneeded if it would do anything to my psu. I would replace the fan with either a Noctua or just a good fan in general to accommodate for the shrinkage of space. Is this a bad idea? Or would my main problem be cooling over anything else? Here's a pic of the inside of the psu.

Thanks! I do have an AIO cooler coming soon, so I will have a pair of intake fans.

Nice. I didn't think about getting a vinyl cutter, but that might be a good idea, or I could just custom order them from somewhere.

Hello everyone! This is my first actual build log, so please excuse any mistakes. I'm here to show off my new build/start a new project. So you may be wondering "What does 'Dalamud' mean?", it is in reference to this. It's a "moon" that was in the game FFXIV. Towards the end of the 1.0 era of the game, Dalamud was crashing down onto the in- game world, but some plot stuff happened, and Bahamut, the legendary FF franchise summon, pops out of it and destroyed the world (literally, a cutscene played and the servers went down) and the game was reborn around a year later as FFXIV: A Realm Reborn. As you will see I went with a red aesthetic (as Dalamud was red), and will eventually be adding more in the way of FFXIV themed things as I go along with this build. So let's get into the actual build log. This was my previous build. CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Cooler: Stock Cooler Motherboard: MSI B350 Tomahawk Memory: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 1 TB Video Card: EVGA GTX 1060 SSC Case: Phanteks Eclipse P400 Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W This is my new build (with the classic spread of components). CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Master Liquid ML240L (Arriving sometime tomorrow, got delayed unfortunately) Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 I Mini Itx Motherboard Memory: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX Storage: SanDisk SSD PLUS 1 TB + WD Black 500GB M.2 SSD Video Card: Zotac RTX 2070 Super Twin Fan Case: NZXT H210i Power Supply: Thermaltake Smart BX1 650W A lot of the upgrades were more future proofing, then actually needing them. Adding more storage as games get bigger and bigger. Upgrading the gpu so I can wait another 3-4 years to upgrade to a newer one. Upgrading the motherboard so I can get a new Ryzen cpu once they come out. Upgrading/Downgrading the case, so it’s a bit more compact as my desk space becomes smaller due to online college classes. I kept my current psu because I don't anticipate my future builds needing to go any higher than 650w, but maybe when Black Friday rolls around I'll get a new one. Here is a pic of the "final" build. Now onto more of the project stuff. This is mostly in the concept stage, so I'll just list out some bullet points I plan on doing in a first to last in priority order. Tie in the red theme, i.e. red/black cables, rgb fans/strips, spray paint gpu/ssd? Either A. Get some custom stickers for the case depicting the FFXIV logo which looks like this, Bahamut, and a couple job icons or B. Spray paint them onto the case Find some more Dalamud related things to slap into/onto the case. Thanks for reading through everything (if you did)! This will be a long ongoing project that will probably stay pretty down to earth with nothing too crazy happening to it. I'll keep this updated with pretty much everything I do with it, so stay tuned!

So would a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 5700xt be able to run the games listed at 1440p pretty well?
-
I currently have a 1060, and was wondering if the 2060 super would be a good upgrade for 1440p gaming that I want to do. I am going to be playing Jedi Fallen Order, RDR2, and Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out. I've seen some videos and reviews, but want to hear it from other people who have been using it to help me out.

PROJECT - 3D printable 5L-class FlexATX/ITX GPU case
M3talGod2 replied to Kilrah's topic in Cases and Mods
@Kilrah Do you have any CAD files for this? I would love to print this myself, or even mess around with it to fit my needs. -
I'm completely upgrading my system. I got a new motherboard, a new CPU and some Ram. Should I just wipe my SSD of my current windows install and just reinstall everything? Or can I use my current install with no problems?

I have a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 mATX Motherboard, and a Gigabyte GTX 950 Windforce GPU. I'm wondering what a good mATX case would be for someone that doesn't got to LAN events often, but still wants to travel with his pc.
-
That looks really good for a scratch build! Nice job!
-
It looks amazing!! I love everything about it! I wish I could do half the things you guys are doing!

Apple really messed up this time lol. I don't think Macbooks are the worst thing ever, just overpriced, but this is just bad.

I have an AMD FX-6300, a GTX 950, and a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard. I'm wondering what I should do with it. I have a full computer worth of used computer parts. I don't want to sell it, because I know I can use it. If anybody has any suggestions, feel free to tell me. Thanks.
