  1. ESD is still a problem, but the parts today are much better built and have built in counter measures to ESD, But i still use my ESD mat, with an ankle strap. That is what I would recommend. If you just get a wrist strap with an alligator clip, if your pc is not grounded, and you are not grounded yourself, you can still cause a discharge. RAM is the most common component to fail from ESD. Having worked as a Hardware Tech II (AVNET), they require ESD coats, and mats.
  2. Here is what my setup looks like, as well as my temps(at idle).
  3. Well you know my fears, lol. The PSU is a Seasonic X750. As long as there is a block for the board, i would buy mid-range, but i will have to look at EKs site, and/or whoever i could find that supports it.
  4. I already have 90% of the water cooling parts, If and when I do upgrade to AM4, i would need an AM4 CPU block, and Motherboard Block, but hopefully i can get the motherboard with the built in block.
  5. My bad on not quoting you. What about the FX-9000 series chip, I know none of the FX can compare to the new AM4 chips, but until i can get enough to get the top of the line AM4 Motherboard(only way i will upgrade my motherboard, to future proof it), the Crosshair V formula has lasted me since 2011, I want to make sure i get something that will last as long. I saw one of the linus episodes where the MB already had the VRM/MOSET set with a water block. I have found that watercooling everything you can, really does keep your components from failing, well at least in my experience. I know i dont need a threadripper(yet) so that isnt a problem, and I dont want any RAM with heat spreaders, and so far its 140 for 2x8GB. so i would say around 600-700 total, most of it will be the motherboard. Will my Seasonic 750w 80 plus gold PSU be enough? I appreciate your feedback.
  6. On average, how much does the AM4 MB, DDR4 Memory, and CPU go for? 1,000?
  7. Very much so, I am looking for a FX-8350, or an AM4 board that i can find on the cheap. and fully upgrade to ryzen. But with a baby and another on the way, It may be a while. lol
  8. I would like to show everyone my setup, and get feedback on what everyone thinks of it. I have had this system for over 8 years(proof of futureproofing) and haven't really upgraded except the gpu.
