  1. LTT should do a story on Racetrack Memory. I could be the next big thing, it might not but it's still interesting!
  2. It's started to be reported on Reddit that people who are now getting delivery of their shiny new Alienware M15 R5's are not getting the performance they were expecting only to then find they don't have 5120 CUDA cores as expected and seem to have 4608
  3. I'm running 20H2 and the windows hello hasn't missed a beat and I don't think Dell are allowed to touch it without getting it re-certified by Microsoft. It was MS not Dell that turned it on
  4. I suspect they are just busy with Christmas problems and low on staff over christmas/new year. A pain in the arse I know but doubt its a scam from $60 Billion a year company

  6. I bought my daughter a low'ish cpu laptop with 8gig of ram and updated it with a 1tb SSD. So just the sort of spec you are talking about. Now she is at university using it for long Word documents and huge excel spreadsheets so JUST office type stuff she is finding it very slow and wants a new one. If someone just wants a laptop for chrome there is a chrome book

  11. Hello, Iv'e just got a Alienware M17 R3 with a 4k screen. The screen is HDR compatible and is lovey in games but when I try and play 4k HDR videos in a browser it decided to use the Intel graphics card and the poor thing hits struggles at hits 100% any ideas how I can force it to use the 2080? I've set the app in Nvidia control panel but that only seems to kick in for 3d stuff. Any ideas?
  12. Thanks heat is the main problem I have had with this one and its started to get silly...TBH I think they know there is a problem with this spec as they were very quick to offer a swap Should be interesting though Alienware m17 R3 1 10th Generation Intel Core i9-10980HK (8-Core, 16MB Cache, up to 5.3GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0) 1 17.3" UHD (3840 x 2160) 60Hz 25ms 500-nits 100% Adobe RGB color gamut + Tobii Eyetracking technology 1 Palmrest for 104 Keys Keyboard (Light) 1 Lunar Light with High Endurance Clear Coat 1 32GB DDR4 2666MHz 1 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD 1 330W Power Adapter 1 6-Cell Battery, 86WHr (Integrated) 1 Power Cord - UK 1 Regulatory and Environmental Labels (330W) 1 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) RTX 2080 SUPER(TM) 8GB GDDR6 with Max Performance 1 Killer(TM) Ethernet E3000 10/100/1000Mbps/2.5Gbps NIC 1 Alienware mSeries per-key AlienFX RGB keyboard

  18. Yes please! ? Youtube can as it's their video encoding setting. But for describing monitor resolutions just stop it!! (I understand i'm on an uphill struggle)
  19. Youtube is not listing resolutions it's how the video is encoded and there 1080i and 1080p are still a thing as they come from the video industry, yes it is ALSO the resolution but you can quite happily stream 4k to a none 4k screen etc . I can encode videos in Premiere Pro H.264 in 1080i to reduce bandwidth when streaming (I'm guessing that bit as I have never actually tried it....why would I)
  20. Positive venders might mistakenly be but the manufacturers aren't https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VG278Q/
  21. I get why people use it but I think it's just wrongly been extended from the 1080p TV days It's never used by manufacturers
  22. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1440p
  23. You say that...but I can't find a single manufacturer using it
  24. No, it's REALLY not! what about the horizontal pixel count? say with ultrawide monitors? my monitor is 3440 x 1440 is that 1440p?
  25. I heard someone last week refer to that massdrop ultrawide monitor as 1440p so its not even pixels
