    Whats with the P??

Yes please! Youtube can as it's their video encoding setting. But for describing monitor resolutions just stop it!! (I understand i'm on an uphill struggle)

    Whats with the P??

Youtube is not listing resolutions it's how the video is encoded and there 1080i and 1080p are still a thing as they come from the video industry, yes it is ALSO the resolution but you can quite happily stream 4k to a none 4k screen etc . I can encode videos in Premiere Pro H.264 in 1080i to reduce bandwidth when streaming (I'm guessing that bit as I have never actually tried it....why would I)

    Whats with the P??

Positive venders might mistakenly be but the manufacturers aren't https://www.asus.com/Monitors/VG278Q/

    Whats with the P??

I get why people use it but I think it's just wrongly been extended from the 1080p TV days It's never used by manufacturers

    Whats with the P??

You say that...but I can't find a single manufacturer using it

    Whats with the P??

No, it's REALLY not! what about the horizontal pixel count? say with ultrawide monitors? my monitor is 3440 x 1440 is that 1440p?

    Whats with the P??

I heard someone last week refer to that massdrop ultrawide monitor as 1440p so its not even pixels

    Whats with the P??

Oh I know what it is...it's just not a thing on monitors its a TV thing!
  12. I realise its probably just me but what is it with all the 'P's when people talk about monitor resolutions? I can kinda (very small kinda) get it with 1080p as a hand down from the old TV days when flat-panel TVs were just becoming a thing and we were being conned with 1080i but it this day and age I think we can drop it and 1440p or 2160p means nothing. You won't find it on a manufactures specs and website. to be honest I'm not sure interlaced flat pannels computer monitors were ever actually a thing anyway.
  13. Came across this today.....made me smile
  14. Not sure you will find an 17 R5 think they are end of life. Replaced by the new M17 then replaced by the new new M17. I have my 17 R5 replaced with an new M17 as it was having real heating issues, it was the 1080 with i9 though
  15. Don't get me wrong. I am more than happy with their support. As this was such an expensive investment I paid for 5 years next day on-site support and they have been very good. I guess it is cheaper, in the long run, to replace than just keep having to send people out, and now more than happy with their solution. It looks like they have addressed the heating problems with better power management.. it's not 100% solved but when it's not gaming its as cool as a nongaming laptop
