Firewrath9 got a reaction from Action_Johnson in PCI-E Lanes, Zen 3, and B550
you can get a external usb hub for your non high bandwidth devices (mouse, keyboard, webcam, peripherals, etc.). any decent one off amazon should be fine.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from Zando_ in Replacing 6800K with 11400F?
no real reasons to not, unless you need the pcie lanes of an HEDT platform, and cost.

Firewrath9 reacted to Juular in Don't buy the G3
There's an opinion that problems we see with Ampere (not Turing) aren't because of too sensitive OCP in fact but due to PSU tripping it's UVP after all capacitors get emptied by high-transients and voltage drops, or perhaps a mix of both.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from Mando772004 in 5800x/5900x memory compatibility
you can always try OCing and tightening timings. With zen 3, 4000mhz dram is possible, and depending on the ICs you can easily get a CL of 16-18 at 4k.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from RealStormBringer228 in Logistics of a DIY L16 Camera-Phone
you'll need a proper software implementation and you need to really accurately measure the distance between sensors. And even if you do that its still not very good since the l16 is frankly shit for $2000.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from kelvinhall05 in (Update: F2 announcement) Beating yourself at price - Pocophone X2 + F2 found
Yeah, Xiaomi's Mi9T Pro is ~350$, has a Snapdragon 855, 1080p OLED screen, 128GB storage, 6GB Ram.
The F1 had a launch price of 300$, and if the X2/F2 launches around that price, without an OLED screen, it will get cannibilized by the Mi9T Pro.
However if it comes with OLED, it might be a viable alternative to the Mi9T non-pro.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from bowrilla in 240mm radiator
EKWB slim rads
Anyways, OP: Hardwarelabs makes the best slim rads, their GTS series (30mm thick) outperforms many 45mm class radiators at low-mid RPM. EK's slim radiators are pitiful

just MSI Max series. Newer boards probably are flashed, just no guarantee.

Firewrath9 got a reaction from Mateyyy in What's the best liquid cooler for Threadripper 3990x?
heh, maybe at stock. Once you turn up voltage and freq, you start drawing some serious power. a 3970X draws around 7W per core, while a 3990X draws around 4W. To get a 3990X to 3970X frequencies, thats over 500W of heat output. In addition, Zen 2 freq scales inversely with temperature, so lower temps = faster clocks
Thats how someone had to do to overclock their 3990X.

I'd advise against a cheap case and PSU, as a quality case and PSU will stay with you across many upgrades. Ditto with SSDs under 1TB, with such low SSD prices, no point in buying low capacity or spinning rust (unless you need like 4TB+ of storage). In addition, Crucial E-die overclocks very well, so I'd get some crucial ram as opposed to some random ram that you don't know who manufactured the ICs.

get an SSD, and a different motherboard. The MSI gaming plus max x470 is pretty good for its price.

No doubt the twin 1400 w power supplies will pull some serious power.
But it just so happens that we recently upgraded the electric in our house to 200 amp service.
New server can practically have it's own dedicated circuit breaker. lol
